All I can tell you is what my teacher said to me. If the state comes let it happen. All you can do is surrender. You will barely even be aware that it is happening. Only when your going in and out of that state do you some what realise that it is happening.
I’m not able to hold sunn state very long, as I find myself going into sehaj frequently. My teacher said I won’t be able to force sunn, so if I go into sehaj that is fine. In fact he said learn to go into this state faster and faster. If I can just go there by saying Waheguru once and boom your gone that should be the goal. Takes me much longer than that. Anything from 15 to 30 mins at the moment and that to if I lay down. If I’m sitting up it will probably take longer as relaxing is harder as legs feel the pain which keeps mind in the body.
If you can hear any kind of sehaj dhun at that time then latch on to it if you can.
I need to properly listen to this video but I think this bibi talks about sunn/sehaj.

In my early 20s I could sit in one asana from 2.5 - 3 hours motionless. I had reached a state where no thought existed, time use to stop, breath use to stop for a couple seconds. I dont know what it was. But it was like Sunn. Then I married, kids and for 20 years I was engaged in worldly activities. Now I can hardly sit motionless for 1 hour. I lost all the kamaiye. Good Luck everyone.

For everyone interested if you can understand Punjabi, please watch this
some audio issues but this is truly the best!

Now I know how to leave body, I had incorrect understanding/assumption. I haven't left so far but I'll keep practicing daily now.
Step 1. comfortable position, start Waheguru simran, saas giraas(as described in this video as well), aim significantly reduce the thoughts to reach chautha padh(turiya), call out Waheguru with certain belief that he is right there, with you, even all is Waheguru, call out with love and some bairag(yearning, craving)
             2. If you can hear anhad shabad then start listening to it and full concentration, still hearing Waheguru with breath or in anhad shabad itself, if you can't hear anhad shabad go back to step 1, read more Gurbani, it will start eventually.
             3. After hearing anhad shabad for some time now, with actual concentration(reducing thoughts even further and settling down in sehad ghar, forehead, house of mind), there you may get amrit as needed, the anhad shabad should keep increasing in sound with more successful concentration and lack of thoughts(you have separated from wind, thoughts and if a thought or 2 comes its easier to let go and stay in the chautha padh)
             4. This is what was missing for me, your Waheguru should be going on inside now, so light, so subtle, body is very relaxed now, almost about to sleep, anhad shabad is quite loud, this is Naam, your aim is to take your concentration to like the sound, this is the marriage that Gurbani talks about, of Concentration(surti) with Dhun(sounds). Power of Naam is so much it is supposed to take you in(like entering sleep but you are barely awake, a bit of shock happens like electric shock). Now you have successfully left the body, it is not like astral projection, it is concentration entering sound world, marriage of mind's concentration to the anhad shabads(Waheguru's voice i.e Naam).
The other side is a game of Concentration and sounds. I shall update as my own experience reaches closer, I'm working on the Step 4, electric shock info came from my father who was able to do the last part once. But do watch the video all is step by step explained.

He says don't strain yourself trying to create a bindu (spot). Put your dhyan gently there 3/4 inch or 2cm behind and between the eyes. A subtle light should appear around your eyes region.

Maybe a 'Meditation instructional videos' thread?

seattlesingh reacted to Ragmaala in Gurpurab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji
Thats a good observation. I have same question.logically, it should be oct 31st . Even Nanaksar calendar has gurpurab on nov 30th. I am not really sure about the reason. My guess is it has something to do with having 2 full moons in one month of oct, which is quite rare. Thats where the phrase once in a blue moon comes from. Maybe someone else can provide some insight into this ?

You can achieve power by practicing mantras. In english you could say that you 'sidh a mantra'.
    As I mentioned above:
Haumai naavay naal virodh hai. Doay na vasai khataey.

If you practice a mantra, any mantra, with the aim of getting power, anger or anything related to the five thieves or ego then it is not naam. Naam is your 'true self', the Satnaam. Man tu jot swaroop hai, aapna mool pachaan.

The examples of abuse Sikhilove is making above refer to people who get some amount of power and use it for personal gain of some sort. Not all of them do so overtly, there are gupt ones who are potentially more dangerous. By definition this is not naam even though it may involve mantra simran. Not all mantra simran is naam simran.

I would say Sidhi refers to the power, which may or may not be used selflessly. In general Sikhs are not supposed to use these at all even though a Sikh will gain the ability to access them along the path (ridh sidh nav nidh) but should leave everything to Hukam, and approach Maharaj with Ardas in case there is any issue bothering the Sikh.
