You should see something before it finishes the jaap or after its done.

But i remember hearing in katha how a gursikh did sava lakh mool mantar 3 times to get darshan of Guru Sahib Ji.
The reason why he was 3rd time luckly was cos the first sava lakh cleared his past life karam of killing someone. 2nd time sava lakh cleared his account of another paap he did. And thats why 3rd time he was luckly when asked why his 3rd time jaap worked and not 1st time.

Another saakhi i remember from Sant Harnam Singh Jis jeevani is they did had started 32 malas of sir mastak rakhiya shabad for their relatives health and just a few days after starting the jaap sant ji were visted by shaheed singhs who question baba ji and told baba ji why that relative was suffering for. But on the 40th of the sava lakh jaap everything was good the health was back to normal and it worked.

Its always encouraged to do at least 125,000 from what i heard in katha and read in Sant Harnam Singh Ji Rampurkhera Wale jeevani.

I have heard that gyani thakur singh mentioned that some gursikhs have done 13 lakh jaap of brahm kavach and they have a lot of kirpa.

i personally feel that just like there are some degrees which are not achieved just by doing study for hours for eg. say if you study for 8 hours a day it still doesn't guarantee that you would be a doctor. Similarly numbers of Jaap cannot guarantee that you would be a sidh. It is still considered as a abhyas.
The Kathakaars give those examples since they want to inspire the sangat to be engrossed in Naam. Someone who does Jaap abhyaas would be lost in meditation and would lose the count. Naam Ras gives you peace and tranquil, you stop worrying about things happening around. Who will count for you ? The Jaap is nirantar inside...you will want to lose count.
Siddhis come and are a blessing of Akaal. However i personally feel that energy will only reside in that body that can hold it. There are peoople who may start seeing things and predicting future but then along with these capabilities comes haume, arrogance. This arrogance kills abhyas with time.

So rather than focussing on magic , i personally want to request you to focus on abhyaas. Let Parmatma be the decision maker, He always is , but as for now we feel we would do so and so and we would become so and so.

My 2 cents bro, Waheguru Ang Sang Sahaai.

Arsh1469 reacted to Xylitol in Baba Nand Singh Ji And The Pooranmashi Abhyaas Viddhi
I've heard that Baba Nand Singh ji gave bachan that those who remain awake the amritvela of pooranmashi will gain the merit equivalent to 1 year worth of amritvela. This is for the pooranmashi of Guru Nanak Sahib's prakash diharra. For other pooranmashi's the laaha is equal to the merit of one month of amritvela.

I would like details and elaboration from anyone who can provide any info.

Arsh1469 reacted to das in What is significance of 108 and 40
Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh

I would like to learn about the reasons behind 108 and 40. I am not raising the question against the validity of these, I just want to increase my knowledge regarding 108 and 40.

    108:
    1. Most of the time there are 108 beads in a Mala.
    2. We refer to Puran Baramgani with 108.

    40:
    1. Sometimes Puran Baramganis asks us to do some Gurbani path at some particular time (mostly before sunrise) for 40 days without interuption and that is particularly for a specific reason. (BUT we should NOT do chalisa ourself, I mean without the bachan of Puran Baramgani. I know about "Sankat Mochan - Shabad Sidhi" which we should NOT follow without Puran Baramganis bachan. These are the techiques that can be followed only with the bachans of Puran Baramgani, and Puran Baramgani usually instruct us to do this under limited circumstances. And everone knows that ).
    2. Almost every religion consider 40 as auspicious.

Therefore, there is something specific about 108 and 40.
Could anyone shed some light on 108 or 40.

I came across number of things for 108 like: there are 108 energy line connecting chakaras, there are 108 desires, 108 lies, 36*3 (previous, current and future) etc. etc., but then why we attach 108 with puran baramgani.

Any suggestions Neo, Vikaramjet and other senior members!

Maskeen Sahib has provided historical evidence from Sri Panth Prakash. There is counter historical evidence present, against meat eating too.
If we keep historical sources aside, is there any Gurbani verse which explicitly permits meat eating?
If the Shabad "Maas Maas Kar Moorakh Jagray" is used to justify meat eating, then one can even rationalize cannibalism using the very same Shabad. Satguru jee proved in that shabad that there is no difference between a vegetable, animal and a human. We are all Meat (Maas). Does that mean, we can break Maryada?

There was an incident where a person came up to Jarnail Singh Bhinderwalaya and asked him which rehit he should follow.. he said follow that of Akal Thakht... Then the DDT singhs asked him why he did'n tell him to follow the DDT rehit... then Babaji said that this rehit is only for members of this dera, while the one for Akal thakht is for the entire panth...

Background of Baba Mahaharnam Singh Ji Bhucho Bhagti : Baba ji were Dargahi Mahapurush, obviously being mere humans we cannot say anything regarding their avastha or bhagti but still to get an idea, we can write few words for Sifat Salah. Baba Maharnam Singh Ji were Avtar of Sri Ram Chandar Jee in Treta Yug. Since birth they were always in Samadhi, rarely spoke with anyone except their own Mauj. People called them Mastana.
Baba Ji came in contact with Sant Sewa Singh  & Sant Mall Singh ji who traced their lineage back to Sri Guru Gobind SIngh Ji Maharaj. Baba Ji were asked to do simran of moolmantar and Japji Sahib.  Baba ji expressed his desire to have darshan of Narsingh after having read Bhagat Bani. Sant Mall SIngh ji gave him Narsingh Kavach  to read only 5 times, after which Baba Ji himself became roop of Narsingh Avatar. Time passed, and Baba Ji completed 7.5 lakh repetition of Japji Sahib in Amritsar Darbar Sahib. He had furna of Nasingh Avtar Darshana. Baba Ji was asked to consume poison/Sankhiya maybe Arsenic ? as a diet of Narsingh Avtar.  Baba Ji had darshan. 3 times it was said Kalyug Praman Nanak Guru ,  meaning the Avtar of Kalyug is Guru Nanak Sahib now, and no one else.
I have just tried to provide a summary, the details are below.
Morale: We should just focus on Guru Nanak Sahib, and we neither have capacity or bhagti to recite Narsingh Kavach, and nor the capability to digest Sankhiya/ Arsenic in order to have darshan of Narsingh Avtar.
But we do remember Narsingh ji every evening during sunset, when we recite HAR JUG JUG BHAGAT UPAYA..HARNAKASH DUSHAT HAR MARYA PREHLAD TRAYA

    Soulfinder Jee,
brother Ragmala has given a sound reply above as seen.
Nobody can satisfy other´s hunger. If you are hungry, you have to eat and masticate the food morsels by yourself, in order to satisfy your hunger.
In that respect, waheguru has kept within all of us in same measure, the wealth of Nam, it depends on each of us, as how much dhanvaan we want to become, by gathering that true wealth of Nam within us, to which there is no limitation, nor any taxation deducted by Kal upon that income.
    Sarb rog ka aukhad Nam.
Do His chintan, His bhakti, as much as possible, and all our sins shall get washed gradually, thus our suffering will start diminishing. Remember our pain, our failures, our success, or be it any other thing, is due to our own karmas; but anyhow, the all mercifull Waheguru has also given us the medicine of His holy Name to be taken as much as possible, in order to nullify all our karmas.
That is it brother, stay blessed.

I think Bhai Gurdass is exagerating to create a better lingvistic feature - to turn it black and white to enhance his message as we say here in the cold north.

For instance we know that Guru Nanak and Guru Arjan travelled alot where as Bhai Gurdaas says that the earlier Gurus only stayed at one place.

Equally Guru Nanak was imprisooned by Babur, Guru Angad was threatened with death by Humayan and Guru Arjan was called for account by Akbar.

Its poetic features to show opposites, - not that they are historically correct but rather to enhance the obvious differences in lifestyles.

Brahm kavach is a bola of Guru Hargobind, it is part of Nihang oral tradition. It is to be recited 32 times and is supposed to protect against black magic. It is mentioned in passing in Chandi Charitra. Old gutke from warriors contains much material of that kind. Bhai Maharaj Singh's gutka for example contained mantras to invoke yoginis, female magical entities that accompany the goddes Kali or Durga.

Guru Nanak is Greater then a Puran avtar
Guru Gobind Singh Ji went on to explain the five attributes
    1 Shakti
Ram showed his powers to his mother. When his mother went to pray to Devi he replaced the image with an image of himself. To show his powers.
Krishna too did this. Krishna pretended to eat dirt so when his mother forced him to spit it out she saw his mouth and saw the whole world. The entire universe.
Guru Nanak had a different miracle. At amrit vela all the devi devta came to worship Guru Mahraj. He was put on a throne like a Maharaja. He was given massages with sandalwood. They placed flowers around his neck. They said To Mahraj ji "O protector of meek you are the true king. You are Vahguru in a Sargun roop. You will save the world and humanity. You are the protector of Devi Devta."
At this point Mata Tripta awoke who was around her son. All the Devi Devta disappeared. She saw Guru Ji in Saffron and sandalwood all over him. The smell was overwhelming. She now lnew Guru Nanak was Vahguru. To pervent his mother from finding out he put maya in his moms mind. Then Guru Ji started to cry. Mata ji forgot everything that happened.
For this reason Guru Ji can't be called less then Ram and Krishna.
He is greater because he has more then the 16 powers and abilities.
Once a cobra gave shade to Guru Nanak while he was sleeping. Once a tree gave shade even though it broke logic as teh sun was in the opposite direction. Also Guru Nanak moved Kaaba. Guru Ji stopped a Rock.
Other avtars used miracles to boost their popularity and ego Guru Nanak used them to guide people and save them. He never did miracles to boost his own ego.
He used them to destroy ego.
Krishna had 16 powers Guru Nanak had infinite.
    2 Viakti
Guru Nanak is greater then all other avtars. Ram and Krishna cut their hair in their lives. Not even in his youth did Guru Ji even dream of cutting hair. When Ram meet some royal maidens they tried to marry Ram but Ram said he will satisfy their needs in Dwapar. ( Fun Fact Satjug the Golden age is 1,728,000 years long Treta the silver age is 1,296,000 years long Dwapar the bronze age is 864,000 years long Kaljug the iron age is 432,000 years long. Numbers are from Adhyatam Parkash)
In Dwapar the maidens became Gopis and Krishna had sexual relations with many of them.
Both Ram and Krishna could not eradicate Lust.
When Guru Nanak went to Sri Lanka the beautiful women tried to enchant Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Guru Nanak destroyed their lust through Gurbani. The began to Jap Naam and became Gursikhs
The shabad Guru Nanak says is on ang 1187 of SGGS.
Guru Nanak did not fallen lust he destroyed it.
    3 Pragya
Ram made Rishi Vashisht his vidya guru. He spent 64 days with him. He then spent 8 days with Rishi Vishwamitar.
Krishna made Rishi Darbasha his vidya guru. He soent 8 days with him. He then spent 64 days with Rishi Sandipan.
For Guru Nanak the teachers did not teach him he taught them. Gur Nanak needed no Vidya Guru. He learned Shastar Vidya by himself and taught Baba Buddha Ji who would teach Guru Hargobind shastar vidya when the time was right.
    4 Kartab
Ram lived 10,000 years. He only did miracles when he was in exile. Ram made a promise that no kid should die before his parents. A son of a Brhaman later died. He acused Ram of liying and having now power. Ram said the child died because of a low caste person meditating in the jungle. Ram beheaded the low caste person.
By accident Ram fought against his 2 kids his entire army including Ram was killed. Sita later brought him back to life. Still Ram gave his reign to his children due to his attachment.
Krishna after killing the Kans named his maternal grandfather king as he had attachment towards his family.
Guru Namak however spemt the firs 28 years of their life working then were brought to Sachkhand where he was given the Mool Mantar. He never did Ustat of anyone other the Vahguru. Guru Nanak rather then killing evil people enlightened them and saved them. Unlike avtars of Vishnu.
(Fun fact Vishnu has 4 arms which all have symbolic and metaphorical menaings. First a conch shell in the upper left hand. This represents Oangkar which led to the creation of life and of Vishnu. Second a spinning disc called a chakra. It is in the upper right hand and represents destroying a persons ignorance and giving Gian. Thirdly a mace in the lower left hand. This is to represent spiritual power and to uplift purity. Finally in the right bottem hand is a lotus flower. Thsi is to represent liberation and being attached to nothing)
He had no attachment to hsi children and didn't pass the Gurgaddi to them. He made people Sants regardless of Race, cast, gender etc.
During Guru Amardas Ji's life no one in Gobindwal died of anything.
Ram live 10,000 years Krishna lived 1,000 years. Both barely traveled. Guru Nanak in 70 years nearly traveled the entire old world (Old world being Europe, Asia and Africa. Som say Australia too) Guru Nanak did so much Parchar in 70 years and gave the mantar of Sachkhand (Mool Mantar)
Guru Nanak was like no other avtar
The samgat then asked for authenticity the Guru Ji said

I originally made this on Sikhsangat time to post it here.
    Part 1
I have started reading my english tika by Sant ji and it is very deep. I will quote some parts I really liked.
    The Importance of Japji Sahib
Kavi Santhok Singh Ji says about Japji Sahib In the way a rice husk is useless without a grain of rice, a Sikh is useless without having memorized Japji Sahib.
Guru Nanak Dev Ji says to Guru Angad Dev Ji those who recite Japji Sahib with their heart will gain a seat close to me.
Guru Ji also says The individual who forgets Jap Ji knowing it divinity is commiting sucide by jumping into the lowest pits of hell
When Guru Tegh Bhadur was going to acced to sachkhand he recited Japji Sahib and his head came off even before he was executed.
I have not told all the stories as I want to focus on the main katha.
    Japji Sahib Katha
    An Introduction
One time a Sikh asked Guru Gobind Singh Ji what type of an avtar is Guru Nanak. According to the Hindu belief there are 6 types of avtars they are the following
    Ansa Avtar
An avtar who is a Dharmic Raja.
    Avesha Avtar
An avtar to give darshan to his devotees.
    Nit Avtar
God as a Sant or Mahapurkh
    Namitak Avtar
Avtars like Narsingh and Bawan who came to protect Vahgurus Bhagats
    Puran Avtar
An Avtar whohas 16 divine attributes and characteristics (Only Krishna)
    Puran Tam Avtar
Is only the Guru Sahibs as the Guru needed no teacher to teach them.
According to Bhindran Sampardama They are the following
    Ansa Avtar
    A Dharm Raja like Manu
    Avesha Avtar
An Avtar not born with powers but through meditation gains them. Example is Parasram(Parasram means Ram with an axe. He destroyed corrupt kings and destroyed ego.
    Kalka Avtar
An avtar who has some powers and has only one thing to do. Example Mach avtar who used 2 of the 16 powers to save the Vedas
    Nit Avtar
An avtar as a Sant or Bahgat
    Namit  Avtar
An avtar that disappears after doing his one task. Example Narsingh avtar.
    Puran Avtar
Ram and Krishna. Ran had 14 powers while Krishna had all 16
Tye 16 qualities are the following
Knowledge, Attention, Virtiuous Acts, Persistence, Moderation, Righteousness, Charity, Skill, Meditation, Loving acts, contol over lust, Spiritualism, mecy, Solemn Promise, intelligence and a Clear Mind
    The 16 powers are
Earth, water, fire, wind, sky, Vital air for breathing, organs, name of god, actions, faith, place in society, devotion, Incantation,  deaire, semen and physique
The the sangat asked is Guru Nanak a Puran avtar or not.
Guru Gobind Singh Ji said Guru Nanak Was Greater then a Puran avtar

When i said 'what the point' i didn't mean to come across as its irrelevant but  sometimes when you talk about direct experiences its really a case of showing off ... you may or may not get mystical experiences form this jaap... like i said it helped in my worldy affairs..it felt like knots being untied, you ever been in a position when a thin thread had a knot init and you try so hard to untie it and get nowhere then someone comes a long and unties it with relative ease, thats how i feel when reflecting on this jaap..i still do this jaap now and again.
I actually felt guilty when doing these jaaps for material gain but when i looked at spiritual people here in uk, most if not all had financial security/stability,something i've never had, and i wondered would they be so spiritual and god orientated if that worldy security was swept away from under their feet..hhmm not sure bro but also contemplating on others, maharaj has loooked after them from the start for them to enjoy his fruits.. its probably best if you start the jaap and if you feel ok about it, share it on here (something i wouldn't do, but each to their own).. be warned you will get a lot of rukaavat especially if you do ardas to complete x amout of jaap in x amount of days for a specific gain/phall..
for jaap itself, when i first started i recited with mouth (loud) over time it became mental to the point i would be doing jaap in head and working and/or doing daily activities at same time...even now sometimes that manter automatically starts in my mind and i go with it and enjoy it.. With jaap, look at your situation and be practical.. its like food, its best eaten when sitting down and in a relaxed mode eating slowly, basically enjoying the food/taste, but if your in a rush you tend to eat fast and sometimes even stand and eat...point being in both scenarios you cater for hunger and are satisfied at the end..things i would suggest is if you got time, do x amount a day sitting down maybe with dhoop/jot and water which you sprinkle around room and drink rest of it.
Have you done this jaap or started it?? don't just do it for the sake of it as you may end up being disappointed, if you have a strong natural desire and 'signs' are saying do it, then put your foot down and get on with it..
