In my opinion, this is poorly constructed question- for taking reincarnation fair/just as system of purification of soul. Who is asserting or claiming sikhi only uses reincarnation fair and just system as method? Sikhism needs to be looked at from its totality not just from sub aspects/concepts such as reincarnation. Sikhism foundation is based on Hakum-always unfolding divine will, under divine will there is always unfolding divine laws of relative world where there is action/reaction. It all starts with ignorance/illusory power of God- how one takes themselves and world as separate from absolute truth, then from that ignorance- separate I-ego is born and from Ego sense of doership is born and from sense of doership- thoughts, desires actions are born and from that actions-reactions -fruit of those actions are there in which one must go through to fruit of those actions. Reincarnation is not system of purification of soul but rather means to question one birth, actions, questions the source of their identity- I who is born and who dies?

Its part of spiritual evolution, it goes through a process. Animals/inanimate objects must go through fruition or fulfillment of desire before they move up naturally towards spiritual evolution. 2b) They cannot make consious decisions on their own while they are animal/inanimate. Everything is preordained for them as part of spiritual evolution.
No one knows. Sikhism states in gurbani itself, trying to know intellectually the start of creation how god definitely works would be undermining it. One can only submit to divine will, after submitting to divine will(connect to inner divine consciousness)- one gets intuitive understanding of divine will-hakum unfolding itself infinitely always changing but yet pure essence never changes always eternal

Sikhs don't have specific understanding method regarding this as we leave it up to hakum-divine will always unfolding to define it, redefine it do whatever with it, one thing about hakum which is always unfolding cannot be understood by logic or rational as it does not have specific pattern of change/process, specific process. Our doctrine does not define nitty-gritty details in divine will but rather simply point towards divine will as inherently present here and now fully capable of working things out. One can have intuitive understanding of hakum-divine will by meditation on NAAM (one own inner real self-inner awareness/knowledge)
Once move to higher form , sikhi talks about one goes through fruitration of higher realms such as heaven-baikhunt until fruition is done then reincarnated back as human being as part of spiritual evolution. Gurbani also forewarns, higher form is temporary, transient realms..so to recognize one real self as part of permanent end of suffering-reincarnation-samsara
Please define higher form. We acknowledge higher realm such as heaven etc but don't believe in it or have aim to achieve higher aim as only higher form we beleive is self-realization- Thy realize yourself - Know your real self. Man tu jot saroop hai, apna mool pain chain - O mind, you are pure awareness/divine knowledge recognize your root/seed. Other paths can also have same realization of their self by grace of their enlightened Guru(teacher). Point of Sikhi was to provide clear path, scripture( pure divine knowledge eternal guidance guru without any trace of dogma), pure understanding of divine, totally free from dogmatic notions, totally free from relative realities as purpose of sikhi is to seeker pure cognitive pure perception which provides divine knowledge-essence, essence of all and supreme reality essence. Point of Sikhi was to get right too the root essence of divine as other paths bought lot of dogma with it which had obscure essence true knowledge/message of divine in their respective paths.

We have to give lekha for everything. We have to give lekha for the air we breathe, for the many microorganisms we destroy, for the water we drink, for the milk we drink, for the plants we kill and for the animals we kill.

Killing animals is a greater lekha than killing plants. So as per sant mahapurash, killing animals will have a greater karmic effect than just killing plants.

There is a lekha for everything, we cannot escape, it is scary. The only time we dont give lekha is when our mind is engrossed in simran ( in simple terms). And how many times does that happen ?

So it is better to not incur so much lekha that we have to become a goat. hen etc just to get our throats slit.

Only those who themselves have reached the turiya pad etcetc can talk about such high things, because they dont incur lekha.

For dumb people like us, it is better we just follow what has been advised by the mahapurakhs and sants, instead of using our own intelligence or interpretation.

But remember there is a lekha for everything, for the plants, for the grains, for the milk and for the meat. choice is ours.

This post has been reposted in this section of the forum because I think it will get lost..

This chapter has got me totally re-evaluating what is it I'm searching for? Even though I thought I understood that god was within and outside did I really understand the message. Probably not!!!!

You teach Others but not me?

You Teach Others but Deprive Me One day I told my master, “You have been cheating me.” When we are inadequate ourselves but our ego is strong, we tend to blame others.

He asked, “What’s the matter?” I said, “You think I am still a child, and you are withholding things from me.”

“Tell me, what am I withholding?”

“You are not showing me God. Perhaps you cannot, but can only teach me about God. If that is the limit of your powers, then you should be honest.”

He answered, “I will show you God tomorrow morning.”

    I asked, “Really?”

He replied, “Most certainly . . . are you prepared?”

I used to meditate regularly before going to bed, but that night I could not. I was sure that in the morning I would get to see God, so what was the point of meditating? I was so restless and excited I did not sleep the whole night. Early in the morning I went to my master. I did not even bathe. I thought, “When my master is showing me God, why take time for a bath?” I just slapped my face, patted down my hair, and presented myself to him.

He said, “Take your seat.” I thought, “Now he is going to show me God.” I was seldom humble, but I became extraordinarily humble that morning. I bowed before him many times. He looked at me and said, “What has happened to you? What is this funny business? Why are you abnormally emotional?”

I said, “Did you forget? You promised that you would show me God.”

He said, “Okay, let me know what type of God you are prepared to see.”

I said, “Sir, are there many types?”

He asked, “What is your concept and definition of God? I’ll show you God exactly according to your conviction and definition. Everyone wants to see God without having any firm conviction of God in their minds and hearts. If you are searching and are not firm and sure regarding the object of your search, what will you find? If I tell you that whatsoever you see is God, you are not going to be satisfied. If I say God is within you, still you won’t be satisfied. Suppose I show you God and you say, ‘No, that’s not God.’ What am I going to do then? So you tell me the way you think about God and I will produce that God for you.”

I told him, “Wait a moment. Let me think.”

He said, “God is not within the range of your thinking. Go back to your meditation seat and when you are ready, let me know. Come to see me anytime you want after you have decided what type of God you want to see. I don’t lie—I’ll show you God. That is my duty, to show you God.”

I tried my best to imagine what God would be like, but my imagination could not go beyond the human form. My mind ranged over the kingdom of plants, then the kingdom of animals, then human beings. So I imagined a wise and handsome man, who was very strong and powerful. And I thought, “God must look like this.” Then I realized that I was making a foolish demand. What could I experience when I didn’t have clarity of mind?

Finally I went to my master and said, “Sir, show me that God who can free us of miseries, and who can give us happiness.”

He said, “That is a state of equilibrium and tranquility which you must cultivate for yourself.”

Without having clarity of mind, a mere desire to see God is just like groping in the dark. I found out that the human mind has its boundaries and can visualize only according to its limited resources. No human being can possibly explain what God is, or conceive of God mentally. One can say God is truth, a fountain of love, absolute Reality, or the One Who manifested this universe. But these are all abstract ideas which do not satisfy the desire to see God. Then what is there to be seen? Those who believe God is a being can imagine and see a vision, but in reality God cannot be seen through human eyes. God can only be realized by realizing the real self and then the self of all.

So when a student has the attitude “I want to see God; my teacher is not showing me God; my teacher is not giving me what I want,” he must finally realize that it is not a matter of the teacher’s duty. Find out if you are making inappropriate demands, and instead of demanding from the teacher, transform yourself from within. God is within you, and that which is within you is subject to self-realization. No one can show God to anyone else. One has to independently realize his real self; thereby he realizes the self of all, which is called God. In the state of ignorance, the student thinks that God is a particular being, and he wants to see that being exactly as he sees something in the external world. It never happens. But when he realizes that God is truth and practices truth in action and speech, then his ignorance about the nature of God disappears and self-realization dawns.

Who or what is having a conversation with who if god does not exist as a separate entity? Does these tuks still indicate a level of duality. Are you infact having a conversation with yourself or the state of many!

Maybe the only way to obtain an answer this question is to do simran and find out for ourselves.

Direct Experience Alone Is the Means

One day my master told me to sit down. He asked, “Are you a learned boy?” I could say anything to him, however outrageous. It was the only place where I could be completely frank. I was never sorry, no matter what I told him. He used to enjoy my foolishness. I replied, “Of course I am learned.”

He asked, “What have you learned and who taught you? Explain it to me! Our mother is our first teacher, then our father, and then our brothers and sisters. Later we learn from the children with whom we play, from teachers at school, and from the writers of books. No matter what you have learned, you have not learned a single thing independently of others. So far all that you have learned is a contribution from others. And from whom have they learned? They have also learned from others. Yet as a result of all this you call yourself learned. I pity you because you have not learned anything independently. You have apparently concluded that there is no such thing as independent learning in the world. Your ideas are the ideas of others.”

I said, “Wait a minute, let me think.” It was a shocking realization that whatever I had learned was nothing of my own. If you put yourself in my place you may well have the same feeling. The knowledge on which you depend is not at all your knowledge. That is why it is not satisfying, no matter how much of it you possess. Even if you have mastered an entire library, it will never satisfy.

“Then how can I be enlightened?” I asked.

He said, “By experimenting with this knowledge that you have acquired from outside. Find out for yourself, with the help of your direct experience. Finally you will come to a conclusive and fruitful stage of knowledge. All knowing is in vain if it is not direct. Indirect knowledge is of course informative, but not fulfilling. All wise people throughout history have gone through great pains in order to know truth directly. They were not satisfied by the mere opinions of others. They were not frightened off from this quest by the defenders of orthodoxy and dogma, who persecuted and sometimes even executed them because their conclusions were different.”

Since that time I have tried to follow his advice. I have found that direct experience is the final test of the validity of knowledge. When you have known truth directly, you have the best kind of confirmation. Most of you go to your friends and give your viewpoint. You are seeking confirmation in their opinions. Whatever you think, you want others to confirm it by agreeing with you, to say, “Yes, what you think is right.” But somebody else’s opinion is no test of truth. When you know truth directly you do not need to ask your neighbors or your teacher. You don’t have to seek confirmation in books. Spiritual truth does not need an external witness. As long as you doubt, it means you have yet to know. Tread the path of direct experience until you attain that state where everything is clear, until all of your doubts are resolved. Direct experience alone has access to the source of real knowledge.

    Real Knowledge Removes Suffering

Self-reliance is important. It comes when you start receiving experiences directly from within. No doubt you need a teacher, you need a guide—I am not telling you that you should not learn things from other people, or that you need not study books. But I have met people who did not even know the alphabet, and yet whenever we had difficulty in understanding some profound truth or scripture, they alone could give us a solution.

Once I was teaching the Brahma Sutras. It is one of the most abstruse books in Vedantic literature. Aphorisms which I myself did not really understand I explained to my students, and they seemed satisfied. But I was not. So in the evening I would go to a swami who had not actually studied scriptures. He couldn’t even sign his name—yet his knowledge was unmatched. He said, “You will never understand these terse aphorisms if you do not have direct experience.” Then he told me this story to help me understand the difference between direct and indirect knowledge. A master had a student who had never seen a cow nor tasted milk. But he knew that milk was nutritious. So he wanted to find a cow, milk it, and drink the milk. He went to his master and asked him, “Do you
    know anything about cows?”

The master answered, “Of course.” The student requested, “Please describe a cow to me.” So the master described a cow: “A cow has four legs. It is a tame, docile animal, not found in the forest but in villages. Its milk is white and is very good for your health.” He described the type of tail and ears it has, everything.

After this description the student went in search of a cow. On the way he came across a statue of a cow. He looked and thought, “This is surely what my master described to me.” By chance that day some people who lived nearby were whitewashing their house and there was a bucket of whitewash near the statue. The student saw it and concluded, “This must be that milk which they say is so good for you to drink.” He gulped down some of the whitewash, became terribly ill, and had to be taken to a hospital.

After he recovered he went back to his master and angrily charged, “You are no teacher!” His master asked, “What’s the matter?” The student replied, “Your description of a cow was not at all accurate.”

“What happened?” He explained, and the master asked, “Did you milk the cow yourself?” “No.” “That is why you suffered.”

The cause of suffering among intellectuals today is not because they don’t really know. They know a little. But what they know is not their own knowledge, and that is why they suffer. A little or partial knowledge is always dangerous, like partial truths. A partial truth is not truth at all. So is the case with partial knowledge. The wise directly perceive truth.

The sage who did not even know the alphabet of any language would always remove my doubt. Systematic study under a self-realized and competent teacher helps in purifying the ego; otherwise scriptural knowledge makes one egotistical. He who is called an intellectual man today only collects facts from various books and scriptures. Does he really know what he is doing? Feeding intellect with such a knowledge is like eating a food with no food-value. One who constantly eats such a food remains sick and also makes others sick. We meet many teachers and they all teach well, but a student can assimilate only that which is unalloyed and comes directly from self-experienced teachers.

Story of my life! But I still can't help not wanting to put this book down. LOL

das got a reaction from tva prasad in Different Types/stages Of Naam
The following is from Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji's Diary:
Types of Naam: There are 2 types of Naam:
Japa (Varan Atmak Bani/Naam): It is the Outer Sound Principle. It is also known as the language of the Pranas or the vital airs for it depends on different types of vibrations in the air. All these types of Japas give solace of varying degrees and one gets peace of mind of a temporary nature only, because the various bodily chakra involved in them are of a lower order, situated below Third Eye. Varn-Atmak words pave the way to Dhun-Atmak Shabd and are thus essential aids in stilling the mind of oscillations, purging it of all impurities and rendering it capable of apprehending the Dhun-Atmak current within. The Varn-Atmak words may and do differ because of lingual differences, but the Dhun-Atmak Shabd being the Life-Principle of the spirit or soul is the same throughout. It can be further sub-divided into 4 subdivisions: Baikhri: These are labial sounds or sounds which are uttered with the aid of tongue and lips. It is when God's Name is recited with tongue and lips. It is the first technique and holds 1 unit in power. Madhma: These are guttural sounds which are produced in the throat or at the back or root of the tongue and palate. It is when God's Name is recited within the throat but without the use of tongue. This is 10 times the power of Baikhri. Pashyanti: These are sounds which originate from the heart center. It is when God's Name is recited within the heart but without the use of tongue. This is 100 times the power of Baikhri. Para: These are sounds which arise through vibrations from the navel center. It is when God's Name is recited within the navel but without the use of tongue. This is 1000 times the power of Baikhri. Ajapa (Dhun Atmak Bani/Naam): This is the Eternal Sound Current reverberating endlessly in every living thing. It is an Unwritten Law and an Unspoken Language. It becomes audible, however, when a spirit rises above body-consciousness. Here one has just to listen to the all-pervading Naam or Shabd. As this Sound cannot be expressed in any symbolic form, it is expressionless. It may be contacted above the sensory plane, behind the centre of the two eyebrows. Here one starts hearing Anhad Shabad. It generally referred to as Naam down to Trikuti; and below Daswan Dwar, where the causal region extends, It is called the Trigun Bani, or Sound within the regions of the three gunas. It is also described as Brahm Janjalla, the network of Brahm, the God of creation. This Trigun Bani or Brahm Janjalla is still within the domain of Kal or Dissolution and hence must disintegrate. HE is beyond Japa, Ajapa, and Anhad. More details are posted under: http://satgur.net/Articles/Spiritual/8

    Hello Sukrit Kaur,
    Please read the following example.

[ A king wanted to choose best responsible person for his thrown, so he held a meeting with his 3 sons. He ordered his sons to undergo the journey of all religious places within one year and he also gave them 3 horses (one to each) which they had to use for travelling. First son did not start his journey and just fed his horse extremely well and converted his horse into very fat. Second son started his journey and he tried to complete the journey as soon as possible and therefore ignored the health of his horse. He over-use the capacity of his horse and eventually his horse died before completing his journey. Third son was very wise, he calculated that if he travel this much distance each day he would be able to complete his journey on time. This way he travelled pre-planned distance each day and also took care of his horse by giving him proper food and rest. Eventually he completed his journey within the provided time.

The third son who completed his journey on time by visting all religious places was chosen as next King. The one who did not start his journey was given punishment by the king. Same way, God has given us this body (as horse) so that we can complete our spiritual journey to God within this human birth time. If we did not remember God during our time on earth then we are like the first son and therefore we will be given punishment by Lord of Justice by either throwing us in Hells or giving us birth in lower species. If we act like second son and due to Virag we did hard penance of God without taking care of our body, then we might get another chance (another human birth) by God so that we can continue our journey. We are supposed to act like third son by remembering God and taking care of our body by fulfilling his needs. i.e When we were in mother's womb, everyone (regardless of caste, creed, and religion) promised God that we will do God's worship for at-least 2.5 hours out of 24 hours. This is our main duty that we have to do along with our wordly duties. ]

So, bottom line is to take care of your body so that it can help you to achieve your Spiritual goal. Believe me, it is not fun to do bhagati in illness. So, enjoy your bhagati while taking care of your body.

Best of luck bhaji, may God bless you and your family. Raab tuhade sir te hath rakh ke tuhade too path karvave.

Let me request you the following that I've learnt personally. I'm NOT suggesting you anything. Just merely stating what have been instructed by many Sants and Mahatamas.
Do Mool-mantar till "Nanak Hose Bhe Sach". Try doing 6 malas everyday of 108 beads for One Full Year. It will roughly be 236520. Do NOT miss a day. Nice to have: Would be great if you could do it, otherwise it's okay.
If possible, make sure that you do your mala each day on the same time and same place. If possible, use the mala 108 + 1 (Meru bead: It is the quiding bead, the one that marks the beginning and end of the mala.) beads. The following is NOT suggested by Sant (I haven't heard), but based upon the facts that these malas were extensively used in the past and special significance of wool in energy.
If possible, use the mala made of white wool.

das got a reaction from Sahib in Out Of Body Experiences
For the past many days, I've been trying very hard for Out-Of-Body experiences; but it seems like some Spiritual energy is blocking me for those experiences. Obviously, I was not happy and was complaining to my Guru in my mind.

And then since yesterday, I started seeing answers to my questions/frustrations via some Spiritual Kathas I was listening to. You can call it coincidences but in my understanding, there are no coincidences, it's someone (God's forces) helping you to understand something by placing you at the right time and right place and then offering you the understanding.
So, I understood that what I had already experienced twice is NOT the same what I'm trying to experience for the past couple of days. There's a big difference in those.

What I was trying now is to be out-of-body and travel places, but in this technique a silver cord (or some thread) is attached between the physical body and the body which is outside; it means that one has to take care of that cord as it should not break otherwise I can't get back to body. Secondly, I need to understand that the physical body needs to be protected from negative forces while I'm away on my travels.
But there is another out-of-body experience which does not involve the silver cord and there is no fear of losing the thread and/or body. But it is possible NOT with the force or hard-work, it is the raising of the consciousness and is dependent on the Guru's Kirpa/Grace.

Now, it finally made sense to me why I was blocked from my experiments. So, the lesson learnt is: There is 2 out-of-body experiences: One is real out-of-body where we actually come out-of-physical body but still attached to it via some cord/thread; Another is where we (may be Soul or may be some astral body or may be mind) actually travels to some other place but here there is no physical connection between the body who travelled with the physical body.

It has happened in the past also. There were many times in the past, when I try some risky/dangerous techniques/knowledge but I was always either blocked and then taught the right OR simply got instructions to stop. I love to take risks because I believe that the Guru is watching over me and will stop me going to wrong direction. But it seems like I should be careful because Guru's main concern is our Spiritual progress and if we always chose risk, Guru might choose to end our current life and give us another life where we would not do risky things as a habit, but in the process the current family member suffers.

Just sharing something that came to my mind.

Yes, bathing in Cold Water is very good for overall health.

Yes, there is Spiritual benefit. How? Basically, anything where you tame/discipline your mind (taking control of your mind instead of working as per the instructions of mind), it would help in spirituality (in terms of strong will).

Physical effects of Cold Water Bath
ICE cold water massage which opens up the capillaries and flushes the blood from the organs to the surface to the skin, and when the capillaries close down again (that is, return to normal), that blood goes back to the organs. The heart, kidneys, lungs, liver -- each organ has its own blood supply. In this way the organs get their flushing. When the organs get a flushing, then immediately the glands have to change their secretion. It is a law. And when the glands (which are the guardians of health and life) change, youth returns.
In general, not so ice cold treatment also has a special tonic-like magic of exerting a rejuvenative and healing effect on the entire system. It stimulates circulation and increases muscle tone and nerve force. It stimulates the entire glandular system. It improves digestion and speeds up general metabolism. It will increase resistance to infections and colds, if used regularly. It has a powerful influence on the central nervous system, on the brain and on all the vital organs of the body. It increases the blood count, as shown in actual studies. It has an electro-magnetic effect on the body, stimulating the flow of life energies and increasing intake of oxygen to a remarkable degree.

Cold water can help reduce even the highest fever, relieve thirst, act as a stimulant, diuretic, and anesthetic, relieve pain, and reduce constipation, increases blood pressure, and aid the elimination of toxins from the body. Cold water is restorative, reenergizing, and helps build resistance to disease.

The temperature of the water should be as cold as you can comfortably tolerate, or within 50-65 degree Fahrenheit. Cold water bath should not be more than 3 minutes. After bath rub your body with a coarse towel and put on dry clothes without any delay. Always start the cold water bath on the right foot, far away from the heart. Moreover, if you are taking shower, regulate the force of the water stream to be as forceful as possible. The harder the stream, the greater the therapeutic value of the shower. A cold shower can be taken twice a day.

Asking if concentrating on third eye is valid in Sikhism is just like asking "Is it ok to eat through right/left side of the mouth" or say that "Is it ok to drink water, because there is a Hindu semi-deity owning water".

Concentrating on third eye or on any other chakra is NOT copyright by any religion. It is a technique to concentrate. Without these techniques, we canNOT achieve GOD......it's a different story that some does follow this technique intentionally and some does not want to follow any techniques, they just do Simran but ultimately the concentration comes to some chakaras and they are not aware of this.

But when we hear of Chakras, our thinking automatically attaches Chakras to some dangerous/mysterious stuff in yoga and/or Hinduism. But this is wrong. Charkas are nothing more than to rest our concentration on. Period.

e.g Sant Baba Isher Singh Ji (Rara Sahib wale) used to say that if you want to place some cloth on a wall, then you need to have some sort of killi (hanger) on the wall where we can hang our clothes. Same way, we need some thing in order to place our concentration on and this something is Chakras created by GOD. Other than helping to concentrate on, Chakras have NO other use in our body.

Now, the most important part is:
    * Concentrating on 3rd eye or any other Chakra is just a technique to progress spiritually, but none of the technique will be effective unless given by given by the Guru or true real Brahmgyani. According to each individual's spiritual graph (from all previous births) decide that which Chakra is best for that individual.

e.g if you don't know any true real Brahmgyani, then Guru Granth Sahib Ji is there......try with PURAN shadra, either make some slips writing different techniques and do ARDAS to Guru Ji to guide you.....Guru Ji (Guru Granth Sahib Ji) will defintely guide you through another source or in your dreams or by giving you the slip as per your level.

    Thank you

As described by Sant Baba Isher Singh (Rare wale) and written up in Discourses on the Beyond vol. 3 by Sant Baba Waryam Singh ji.

What has been described as the primal sound is actually the Shabad (Divine Word). This is called the Anhad Nad the unstruck melody which is produced in the body without effort of the individual self and by the spontaneous vibrance of the vital airs (life breath) with the ether.

Kingri : Single String musical instrument Singi : Yogis hollow horn, a kind of trumpet Bheri : Kettle Drum Toor: An S shaped trumpet Beena : A type of string instrument, flute or lyre. Ek Shabad : Sound of One Word (The primal sound) Nessanu Drum Garud Shabad The mantra that effaces the poisonous effects Ghanta : Bell or Gong Ghungru : small tinkling bells Tanti Shabad : Sound of vibrating strings Runjhun : Tinkling sound, jingle, chime Babiha : Music of Rain bird
    1. Kingri : Single String musical instrument

The Guru, the detached Yogi, has enticed the hearts of all; He plays His harp in each and every heart.
mohi ga-i-aa bairaagee jogee ghat ghat kinguree vaa-ee. 907

My mind and breath are the two gourds of my fiddle, and the Lord of all the ages is its frame.
man pavan du-ay toombaa karee hai jug jug saarad saajee. 334

The string has become steady, and it does not break; this guitar vibrates with the unstruck melody.
thir bha-ee tantee tootas naahee anhad kinguree baajee. 335

In each and every heart the Music of the Lord`s harp vibrates, night and day, with sublime love for the Shabad.
ghat ghat vaajai kinguree an-din sabad subhaa-ay. 62

    2. Singi : Yogis hollow horn, a kind of trumpet

The horn of consciousness vibrates the unstruck sound current; Your Light illuminates each and every heart, Lord.
sinyee surat anaahad vaajai ghat ghat jot tumaaree. 907

    3. Bheri : Kettle Drum

The sound current of the Shabad is the sounding of the temple drums. Pause
anhataa sabad vaajant bhayree. rahaa-o. 663

    4. Toor: An S shaped trumpet

    All desires have been fulfilled.
    sagal manorath pooray.
The unstruck melody of the sound current resounds.
    baajay anhad tooray. 629

Pure are the listeners, and pure are the speakers; the True Guru is all-pervading and permeating.
suntay puneet kahtay pavit satgur rahi-aa bharpooray.
Prays Nanak, touching the Guru`s Feet, the unstruck sound current of the celestial bugles vibrates and resounds.
binvant naanak gur charan laagay vaajay anhad tooray. 922

    5. Beena : A type of string instrument, flute or lyre.

The Yogi who plays on the flute of Gods Shabad gains the Blessed Vision of the Infinitely Beautiful Lord.
beenaa sabad vajaavai jogee darsan roop apaaraa. 351

My mind is absorbed in loving devotional worship of the Lord,
har kee paraym bhagat man leenaa.
Within me every plays the flute of Divine bliss . Pause||
nit baajay anhat beenaa. rahaa-o. 622

then the celestial flutes play the unstruck melody in tranquil peace and poise.
    ta-o anhad bayn sahj meh baa-ay. 344

6.Ek Shabad : Sound of One Word (The primal sound)

The One Word of the Shabad abides within my mind; I shall not come to be born again.
ayk sabad mayrai paraan basat hai baahurh janam na aavaa. 794
He cuts off the three branches of the three qualities, and embraces love for the One Word of the Shabad.
saakhaa teen nivaaree-aa ayk sabad liv laa-ay. 66

    7. Nessanu Drum

I will meet with my Lord by the beat of the drum.
    mila-o gupaal neesaan bajaa-ee. 1164

    8. Garud Shabad The mantra that effaces the poisonous effects

If he hears the Surpreme Gurus charm, believing in the Name his soul becomes contented
If one, as Gurmukh, hears and believes in the Name, the charm against poison, his mind becomes content.
gurmukh gaararh jay sunay mannay naa-o santos. 1009

    As with the magic spell of Garuda the eagle upon one`s lips, one does not fear the snake;
garurh mukh nahee sarap taraas. 987

    9. Ghanta : Bell or Gong

His bell resounds to the four corners of the world.
ghantaa jaa kaa sunee-ai chahu kunt.
His seat is forever in heaven.
aasan jaa kaa sadaa baikunth. 393

    10. Ghungru : small tinkling bells

You shall hear the vibrations of the tinkling bells, when your mind is held steady.
ghunghroo vaajai jay man laagai. 356

Making the effort, the mind becomes pure; in this dance, the self is silenced.
udam karat hovai man nirmal naachai aap nivaaray.
The five passions are kept under control, and the One Lord dwells in the mind. |
panch janaa lay vasgat raakhai man meh aykankaaray.
Your humble servant dances and sings Your Glorious Praises.
tayraa jan nirat karay gun gaavai.
He plays upon the rebeck, tambourine and cymbals, and anklet bells and the the unstruck sound resounds. Pause
rabaab pakhaavaj taal ghunghroo anhad sabad vajaavai. rahaa-o. 381

    11. Tanti Shabad : Sound of vibrating strings

Make the Fear of God, and the Love of God, the two gourds of your lute, Yogi, and make this body its neck.
bha-o bhaa-o du-ay pat laa-ay jogee ih sareer kar dandee.

Become Gurmukh, and then vibrate the strings; in this way, your desires shall depart. ||5||
gurmukh hoveh taa tantee vaajai in biDh tarisnaa khandee.

    12. Runjhun : Tinkling sound, jingle, chime

Whoever reaches the fearless Lords Home, He ever hears the sweet and melodious celestial strain.
anhad run jhunkaar sadaa Dhun nirbha-o kai ghar vaa-idaa. 1033

    13. Babiha : Music of Rain Bird

The rainbird chirps in the ambrosial hours of the morning before the dawn; its prayers are heard in the Court of the Lord.
baabeehaa amrit vaylai boli-aa taaN dar sunee pukaar.

The order is issued to the clouds, to let the rains of mercy shower down.
mayghai no furmaan ho-aa varsahu kirpaa Dhaar.

In the Hans Upanishad, where there is the mention of Anhad Shabad (unstruck melody), it is written:

[One who does japa of the Hans Mantra (Hamsa, Hansa, Sohum, So Ham, or So Hum.), millions of times, comes to the realization of Nad. It is also stated that Nad consists of ten different types of melodies, nine of which are to be passed over, and the tenth, which resembles the sound of the thunder of distant clouds, is to be meditated upon and practiced, for It takes one to Par-Brahm.] - from my own notes and not from the book.

Chatka on hearing which all hair stand on ends Punn Punn Chann Chann on hearing all the limbs of the body are in bloom Bell on hearing mind and intellect are filled with love Conch on hearing which, ones head begins to whirl like that of an intoxicated person. Sound (note) of the harp by concentrating ones consciousness on that one feels surpreme bliss and nector seems to rain from the divine hole (top of the head). Nirakarai one feels Amrit nector in ones throat. Flute sweet note which fills every fibre of ones body with sweetness, no trace of disturbance of consciousness. Begin to get spiritual powers Pakhavaj One achieves the power to feel the musical phenomenon which is operating in ones body or that which a seeker hears within himself and begins to know its meaning. Small nafiri (energy) one is saturated with energy to the full and one acquires extremely strong power. One acquires the power to reach any place one desires physcailly or mentally. Invisibility Cloud on hearing which one sees the divine face to face.
What is commonly called the Anhad Shabad (The Divine Word, unstruck music) is the sum total of the five sounds

    The five sounds are -
Tata - Sound of vibrating Strings Vitu The sound produced by percussion on a stretched lether or membrane Ghan The sound produced by striking solid broze metal Nad The sound produced by thundering clouds Shishur or Shikar - The sound produced by blowing wind (breath) through holes

I'm so hooked to his videos for the past couple of days that it's hard not to watch. Here goes another interesting video where he describes that meditation (as we know it) won't take us beyond Causal plane and various other stuff like Mind/Kal/Time. He also explains the creation, free-will and many other things so beautifully.

Then he also explains sounds from Right vs Left ear are just preparatory sounds and not real sound.

definitely his way of explanations is so practical and helpful.
cant believe that Radha Swamis have such a better understanding of Shabad Surat Marag. whereas we sikhs are no where near.
we have forgotten the art of meditation, and its not emphasized at all.
all pracharaks say is to amrit shak and do nitnem. no one tells how to do it unless u r under close supervision of a sant.
