Simple answer is not a yes or a no... but the question is who is the ''real pakhandi or faker''?
It's me and you mate...us... the manmukhs..that question the integrity or higher order of some other gursikh.
    ....
You may say, ''what gives the other gursikh such higher order or status ?"
Well, i would say that if there is some gursikh or bhai sahib amongst us that could teach us a thing or two, and in turn we may learn something from them..... then in turn, they would have such a higher order/status than me & you.
So if I want to be a faker and question the teacher.. then that makes me the real pakhandi.

Besides the guy doing the slating is from the group of missionaries that deny dasam bani, deny naam simran and very openly promote khula maas(from macdonalds) instead of looking at meat issue with regards to nihang/warrior/jhatka tradition.

They have the charms and persuasions of wrongly distorting gurbani for their own personal agendas.... so what deal and how difficult would it be for them to distort the lifestyle, kamayee, gyaan of some gursikh ?

    Savinderpal,

This whole issue has been discussed many times when they first started up. You can find many threads on sikhsangat about him.

But to put it simply they have a 1 year naam abhyaas course where you probably stay there and do a serious about amount of daily naam abhyaas under their guidance. At the end they give you a certificate from their institution called Brahm Gyan University stating you completed the 1 year naam abhyaas course. I don't believe it states you are now officially a "Brahmgiani", which was how people started interpreting it. Think there is also a 4 year course.

Yes they have certainly raised the bar in who can partake in Amrit. They believe one should have a certain level of kamiyee and reached a certain avasta before you should present yourself to take amrit. I'm not 100% sure but I think as a minimum you should have reached the stage of anhad shabad. Even after taking the amrit I think you have to commit to spending another year doing further strong naam abhyaas as some other jugties are taught in the amrit sanchar.

They certainly believe in quality not quantity.

Think the aim is to develop pacharaks with practical kamyeee as well as knowing teachings of Guru Maharaj.

I really like his lectures. He is one of the rare few who openly emphasized that one should do waheguru simran and you should focus your dhiyan on dhun of the gurmantar. He also discussed some very advanced stages of sunn, chota pad, dasam duar.

then why are we using a smaller one thats not even proper read shastar , without dhar and made with soft iron?

why dont we use a proper battle ready khanda like patshahi 10vi ji?
was it distorted latter by british?

please update the places where they use big 3foot khanda in sanchar

Totally agree with what your saying bro. The problem is that we all want shortcuts to get the job done whilst putting in minimum effort ourselves. Gurbani places so much emphasis on Sants, Sadhus, Saadh-Sangat. We are conditioned to get close, but when you get too close you begin to see some holes or things we don't understand. Then we are told it's all about following bachan's without any question otherwise you don't get that blessing.

jae ko bachan kamaavai santhan kaa so gur parasaadhee thareeai ||
One who practices the Teachings of the Saints, by Guru's Grace, is carried across.

I was listening to some of the kathas at Sant Baba Isher Singh ji's (Rare Wale) Salana Barsi this weekend in West London and one of the Sants narrated a incident from Babaj ji's life. He said there was a baba ji who's name I cannot remember who used to manage the langar seva at Rara Sahib Gurdwara. One day he came to Baba ji and handed over the keys to Baba ji and said I'm leaving and going to become gristi and get married. Baba ji asked what the problem was? This mahapursh replied that many people come to the langar and my vikars/thoughts/desires are troubling me too much. Rather any kind of incident occurring and I bring this place into disrepute it is better I leave now. Baba ji called him over and placed his hand on his head for a few minutes and then asked him how he was feeling? The mahapursh replied that his mind had been totally cleaned and there were no more disturbing thoughts. Baba ji gave him back the keys and said you asked for this seva from dargah so now go back and complete the job.

Boom job done! If only it was that easy for the rest of us.

The root of the problem also lies in the community where people put parcharikhs, kathavachik or gyanis/mahapursh on pedestal and do personality worship...our mentality needs to change, we need to be perceive more what's being said - message, point and follow the message than attaching our selves with pointers/messenger then get disappointed where one should have taken messenger out of equation to begin with.Only rare ones - cares about tat essence of gurmat teaching ,attached themselves with message than messenger.

Chalisa is Chali - sa, meaning 40 chaupais.
Chaupai is chau - pai, meaning 4-line poem.

Sukhmani sahib is in Ashtpadi, Asht - padi, meaning 8 steps. Each step is 10 lines.

    10 lines x 8 = 80 lines. A Chalisa is 40 x 4 = 160 lines

So my guess would be that you read 2 Ashtpadis with each Nitnem.

Anyways I don't know what the puratan maryada is so maybe someone else can chime in on that.

And just to re-emphasize once again, physical purity is just one of the many angs of the whole deal/ Bhagti.
It is necessary but not everything on its own. If one doesn't have a mental rehit, it is useless.
If he just focuses on the outer aspect, then it is just a cause of haumai/ego and obstruction in one's path.

When doing seva of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji,utmost suchamta should always be kept. Both physical and mental.

Just for the sake of argument, here it goes:
    1) Even if you use artificial methods of keeping the "stuff" within the boundaries of the skin, and prevent it from coming out, the endometrium has already sloughed off, its just being kept in there. The natural state of the body is that endometrium keeps on piling up so it can support the zygote, and then when it finds nothing it sloughs off. So once it has already sloughed off, and you are trying to conceal it with whatever methods tampons, cups or whatever...what once was part of the body is no more a part of body, the endometrial cells have separated off from the lining. They are more like urine, sweat, or excreta. So personally for me, if someone sits on Tabya, it does not look clean to me.

As for women who have reached menopause , it is not a problem for them since this process of sloughing off doesn't happen in them. Same thing with injections.

I dissected human bodies, both male and female, during my anatomy classes in medical school. The bodies and their functions don't embarass me.

[This is my personal opinion, and I am not enforcing it on anyone. Moreover, I am not female so I can't physiologically or psychologicaly relate to the process. That's why I wanted opinions of any Gursikh Females here. In the end, it truly is an individuals own responsibility. If a bibi is sitting on Tabya, I wouldn't ask her if she is menstruating or not. I think it is assumed that Bibis who do seva are mature & responisble enough to know whats best]

I agree, it is totally personal between the individual and Guru Ji. Again, I haven't seen men harassing Bibis regarding this issue. It is generally assumed that Bibian knows what is best. I haven't come across such situations.

After going through some posts here regarding suchamta I wanted to write something about it, especially when in close vicinity of Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj. This writing will be based purely on my understanding so far. Everyone is welcome to take from it whatever they like or conforms to their understanding and reject what doesn't sit well with them. Most of my understanding is from sakhis that happened in times of Dhan Baba Nand Singh Ji Maharaj, Dhan Dhan Baba Ishar Singh Ji Kaleranwale and some other Nanaksar Mahapurakhs I came in touch with.

It is very important that we maintain purity when in presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. This is to show utmost respect to Guru Ji and to see Guru Granth Sahib Ji as 'Pargat Guran Ki Deh'. Just wanted to mention here that throughout their lifetime, Baba Nand Singh Ji himself fed Prashada to Guru Nanak Dev Ji in partakh form. Whenever we enter into the room of Guru Ji, we are supposed to take permission to enter. This is done by saying ' Satnaam Ji'. Before entering the room our feet must be washed. Now if we are to do close seva of Guru Ji, our clothes should be clean meaning they shouldnt be worn during normal activities of the day. If someone has gone to washroom he/she shouldnt wear those clothes. Even if someone goes to sleep , he should change those clothes before doing personal seva of Guru Ji. When person sleeps , he dies temporarily and this is considered impure as per Baba Nand Singh Ji. So suchamta of clothes, of the body is important .

There is also a stricter maryada when it comes to Akhand Paths and certain Sampat Akhand Paths as conducted by Baba Nand Singh & Baba Ishar Singh Ji. Not sure how strictly it is enforced today. Pathi Singhs were to do keshi ishnaan & wear clean/pure clothes each time they went to do their raul. They were not allowed to talk about anything except Gurmat. This was the suchamta of the mind. Also , if a pathi was physically handicapped/ missing a limb he was not allowed to partake in Sampat Path as it had affect on the shakti of the path. Singhs were not allowed to look at themselves in mirrors, and were always accompanied by 2 sword carrying Singhs when they were going outside in the jungle to carry out their bodily functions.

Sampat Paths used to be done in peoples personal homes. But if the maryada was broken somehow ,it had a negative effect on the family. I think its alsmot impossible to do a sampat path with proper maryada at home. So I think sampat paths are only done in nanaksar thats by Mahapuraksh who are capable of doing it for Sarbat Da Pala.
One time a pathi singh was participating in a 28 day mahasampat akhand path. Apparently, he didnt do ishnaan when doing his raul. He ended up dying of suffocation from a fire in his room shortly after, Such is the effect of not keeping suchamta during a MahaSampat Path.

Baba Nand SIngh JI were strict on keeping suchamta/respect in presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib JI. He wouldnt allow Pathi SInghs to change the rhythm of the path, it was to be kept in the same rhythm throughout 48 hours, they were not allowed to lean on the bed of Guru Ji and neither to raise their knees in front of Guru Ji. No bodily air was to be let out in presence of Guru Ji. They were asked to step out so.

To summarize, utmost care should be taken when it comes to physical body purity/suchamta when performing sewa of Guru Ji. This includes ishnaan, keshi ishnaan, clean/pure clothes during sewa. So this is the physical aspect of purity. This is one of many angs of Bhagti. Obviously maintaining outer purity alone without keeping the mental rehit will become useless and a cause of haumai. So this has to go hand in hand with other angs of bhagti such as shradha, prema, love , devotion, etc.

So, the purpose of this post was that physical purity/suchamta indeed is important when doing sewa of Guru Ji. And it depends on the individual level, how far can that person go to please Guru Ji. If one of the greatest Mahapurash emphasized suchamta then there must be some weight to it.

Thus, open minded individuals will take whatever they want from this post.

On a side note, I wanted to comment on something. This is purely my thoughts/imagination/views.
The waste is inside us. There is waste in ears, eyes, mouth, and other orifices. The bones, marrow and whats inside the intestines is dirt and waste. Physically we can never be pure. We are sweating all the time. There is waste in our nose. When Jeev leaves the physical body rots and smells. There is urine being made inside the kidneys and store in bladder. Our Skin cells are shedding and the lining of the endometrium sheds every 28 days for some human beings. If we go to minute details , our mind cannot handle it grasp it and will go mad.

But given all that, all the above I said, as long as our bodily functions are maintained and contained within the physical boundaries of our bodies which is set by our skin, we should feel okay in maintaining some suchamta/purity of this body. So we should take care that our bodily fluids and bodily air is not leaking outside the boundaries of skin. And this could either be urine, post processed food, or visble red cells and lining of the endometrium.

    ______________________________________

Usually I refrain from commenting about female activities esp when it comes to their bodily functions.
But my mother never did sewa of Sri Guru Granth Sahib during certain times when I was a kid. She forced me to do Sukhasana, at that time I didnt know why, but later on understood it. This was a conscious decision on her part. So this is a decision best left to them.

Sorry for the long and broken thoughts. But had to write about it.

Hopefully some Guriskh Females can give their input about this, so it doesnt look like that Sikhi is being controlled by men. Are there none on this forum? lol

Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh:

It was month of winter year 2001. I visited Damdama
Sahib with my old mother and my son. There I met this
old Nihung Singh who was well educated and knew
English as well. He lived on very bare minimum, and
slept on Parali spread on the kacha floor of a room
without any doors. He was expert in folk
medicines (Desi Dawaees). He was well travelled a
store house of knowledge and passion for serving
humanity. I listened to him in complete raptness for
about two hours. At one point I mentioned to him that
my mother was suffering from some breathing
    irregularities.

He prepared a medicine right before my eyes and
recommended that it must be given with hot water. I
told him that we have hot water from geyser in the
room but he ran at full speed towards Langar fire pit
to heat some water and brought it back in very short
time. I wondered what was the difference between
electrically heated water or the Langar Hall's deg
heated water. Only the compassion in Nihung Singh ji's
deep penetrating eyes, and his body's erect thin old
frame knew the secret to my question. I never dared to
ask him the question: "What is the technical
difference in this hot water of the geyser and that
    hot water of Langar's degcha?"

He did this all without any consideration for any
compensation whatsoever. I asked him his name. He said
there is nothing in NAMES. "Navaan vich ki piayaa
hai?" But upon more insistence he wrote in the dust of
the ground, in English letters: "Pattiaan Wala Vaid" -
Perhaps pointing to the fact that "From dust we came
and to dust we return. He murmered in soft voice that
he is only Guru Gobind Singh's son.
My son was messmerized listening him talk for about
two hours and then give medication to my mother in
such a dramatic manner in the end.....Dhann Guru,
    Dhann Guru Piarey.

    -- -----------------------

My 16 years old son sent me the following story today
that reminded me to pen down the above episode
briefly. Please share the following with others in
Name of Satguru Nanak, Akaal-roop Gur Gobind Singh:

"I have come across an amazing life of a nameless
Akali Singh whose jeevan I feel very compelled to
share with all of you. Akali jee was 81 years old in
1973, when his life was first written. Akali jee
instructed the original author to withhold his name as
he did not like to advertise his greatness.
Akali jee always stayed in Akali baana and was never
seen without shaster (weapons). He led a very simple
life and was a great rassiya of Gurbani and
Naam. His humility was unmatched and his speech was
    sweet as honey.

He was arrested by the British government in 1916 and
till 1932 he stayed in jail for playing part in the
independence of India. After getting released, he went
to jail many times and in 1942 he was in jail with
Jawahar Lal Nehru; the first prime minister of India.
After the independence of India, Akali jee stayed
fully independent of worldly responsibilities and led
his life helping out others. He forever stayed merged
in the Naam of Vaheguru. He would stay in one place
for few months and then move on. He did not have any
attachments in the world and had no belongings to
    worry about.

In 1962, he came to the Sipri town of Madhya Pardesh
(largest state of India). Sipri town of Madhya Pardesh
was greatly infected with crime at that time. There
was a small Gurdwara Sahib in the town and Akali jee
stayed there during his stay in this town.
One evening, Akali jee finished doing his Rehraas
Sahib paath and went out for a walk. While he was
coming back from the walk and was walking by a
water tank, he heard the moaning of a woman that grew
in a loud scream as if she heard someone walk by.
Akali jee stopped and started walking towards the
back of the water tank and saw about 8-10 men removing
the clothes and jewelery of a struggling woman. He
also saw a young man tied to a tree.

Akali jee tried to stop the thugs from committing this
crime but they did not pay any attention to a old
person. How could Akali jee tolerate such
cruelty on a helpless woman right in front of him? He
did realize his age which was about 71 years at that
time, and that he was against about 10 badmaashs
(thugs). He briefly closed his eyes and remembered
Siri Guru Gobind Singh jee and reminded him of his
bachan of Sava laakh se ek laraayoon i.e. I will make
my Khalsa fight with 125,000 persons. Akali jee
felt immense power at the end of the ardaas and he
took his 2 feet long stick and started beating the
    thugs with it.

When the thugs got hurt with the stick, they all took
out their Rampuri knives and attacked Akali jee. Akali
jee who was an accomplished player of gatka,
immediately changed his paintra and took out his
kirpaan. He played gatka in such a way that no badmash
could even come near him, let alone hit
him. Many of the badmashs got severely injured with
his attack. They could not believe that they were
being beaten by a 70+ years old man. They tried
to subdue him but all in vain. Eventually they all ran
    away.

Akali jee opened the ropes of the tied young man. He
then tried to lift the half unconscious young woman,
who was constantly repeating, bachaayo bachaayo (help
me, help me). Akali jee took her head in his two
hands, brought her near his heart, like a father would
do to his distressed daughter, and said, Beta, oh
chale gaye hunn. Chal ghar chaliye. (O daughter, they
are gone now. Let us go home). Hearing his comforting
voice, she regained her consciousness and the three
started walking back to their house. They went to the
Gurdwara Sahib but the doors of the Gurdwara Sahib had
been locked and the sewadaars did not open the doors
even after heavy knocking. At this the three of them
walked towards the couple house. The relatives were
anxiously waiting for the couple as they had been gone
for a long time. When they heard how Akali jee had
saved their honour, they wanted to thank Akali jee,
but Akali jee had left for the Gurdwara Sahib by then.
He stayed outside the Gurdwara all night as the doors
    were closed.

The girl belonged to a very influential family in the
town. At the rise of the day, when everyone found out
about the incident, they all came to the Gurdwara
Sahib to get the darshan of Akali jee. The Police
chief himself came with a lot of people and the press
to see Akali jee. The girl who was saved by Akali jee
too was along with the huge crowd that came to the
    Gurdwara Sahib.
The police chief asked the girl about the person who
had saved her honour and life. Hearing this the young
woman, moved forward and tearfully hugged Akali jee
and said, Yeh mere baapoo jee hain, Inhon ne meri jaan
bachaayee thee (He is my father who saved my life and
honour). This is all that the girl could say and then
she burst into tears. The whole atmosphere became very
emotional and Akali jee comforted the girl by slowly
    patting her back.
The people gathered a large amount of money and
presented to Akali jee but Akali jee refused to accept
it. When they persisted, Akali jee took the
money and then in front of them placed the money in
front of Siri Guru Granth Sahib jee. The police chief
asked Akali jee to stay in the town and that he would
ensure that Akali jee got pension for life. Akali jee
politely declined the offer saying that after taking
the amrit of Siri Guru Gobind Singh jee he has done
naukri (job) of only Panth and did not want anything
    in return.

Hearing such high ideals of Akali jee, the whole crowd
started praising him. How could a singh of Guru Gobind
Singh jee hear his praise. The newspapers
wrote about him too. He left the town and moved on to
another unknown destination after that. This story was
originally written by Sardar Chanda Singh Bareli and
    published in 1973.
