Yeh, uncut hair is a biggie!.........I'm sure Paapiman you will find a number of references.
In simple explanations, I would say that uncut hair increases and strengthens the energy fields...as if filling in the holes of a sponge. This energy of a field around the body helps and increases the strength and connection to God. ....It's no wonder that the Rastafarians often say that their long uncut hair in dreadlocks are like "antennae" to connect with "jah" (their term for lord).
A few members that have known of me for a while, are also aware that I was always a mona and was mona when  I was trying to get into meditation about 4-5 years ago, At the time I was clueless and didn't know where to start, but all I knew was that I had to jap...>>that was the Hukam<<      I had no intention or mindset about keeping hair, rehat or even getting serous about sikhi. It's just that as I got deeper into self-spiritual learning and meditation; a strong affinity and connection with growing and keeping khes also developed. It was difficult to explain but I just started growing my hair and couldn't explain to anyone that for some reason it felt like a sacred ang of my body. Sacred in the sense, that it was helping bridge a connection to the almighty. After a series of months and some combinations of events, I began delving into gurbani and sikhi with more seriousness. Then came a day when I knew I was ready to start learning about what is and how to wear a pagg.

Most people do it in a very generic way.
That is to say - Most people do simran without any strong intention towards a goal.
So when they do simran to try to cure something, they can't cure it because their will is weak, their intention is not strong enough.
And this is why someone can do simran for 40 years and still have no clue what God is.
Because there is no intention to meet God in the simran.

This is unfortunately a norm within A LOT of Gurdwara committees

This post will be long so I apologize beforehand, but please provide some help.

Prior to going to this Gurdwara, I had heard a lot about the committee and the granthis in the gurdwara. This includes people who have observed swearing and arguments bewteen granthis and committtee meemebers in the darbar hall in the presence of SGGSJi. I also found out that they do not do Rehraas at a set time and sometimes they do it at 7:30pm. In addition to this I heard the granthis and parthaan of the gurdwara chose to completely stop langar apart from Sundays, despite there being classes on some weekdays in the evening.  Also, they use the sangats money to order pizza for the other granthis birthday but when the sangat came in they did not offer them anything and told them to eat the leftover sweets on the table. And finally, the most surprising thing, for once it was the committee members trying to fight for the correct running of the gurdwara but the granthis and parthaan shut them off. All of this spurred me to go investigate for myself..

So, about 2 weeks ago I visited a Gurdwara in the outskirts of the city center. It was midday on a Friday, so I didn't expect there to be much sangat as the Gurdwara is further away from houses. Now, when I arrived to the Gurdwara, I went in and sat in the presence of Maharaj Ji. There was a tape playing Shabads on quite low. So after a little while, the Granthi came in and told me to come and get Prashaad from the him, so I got up and put my hands together, the then proceeds to putting the Prashaad in my hands as well as fully touching my hands (he didn't know if I had washed my hands or not).

Seeing as I had just got up, I made my way into the langar hall and waited for him to come out, once he came I asked him what time Rehraas in recited in the Gurdwara. He mirrored what people had told me beforehand, he said that there isn't anytime, they do it whenever they can, even 7:30pm, I was glad that he didn't lie, that was a start I guess, but how wrong I was..

I then asked him what they do after Rehraas, he said that they do the Ardaas and that's it. I asked them if they do Shabads or the Aarti after Rehraas, but he said no. I then asked about other classes and programmes that they have (at this point we were sitting in the langar hall). He responded to me saying that the sangat and naujawan are not interested in classes of any type. But he did say that they have yoga classes and Punjabi classes on, and that the turnout is not great. I told him that if I were to get a slot and gather sangat then would that be fine - he started to hesitate and then changed the topic by saying 'well you'll have to pay for the ingredients for langar and then pay for the electricity and gas and cook yourself'. I was a bit surprised as this should be coming from the gurdwara's part as there was no talk of any akhand paath, wedding etc.

I do kirtan and shabads in different Gurdwareh and I genuinely wanted to have a slot at that gurdwara too. So I asked if there was any way that on a weekday after Rehraas I could do the Aarti or on the weekend if I could have a 10 minute slot for a shabad and if I'm lucky then an hour slot so I could do english katha for the youth. But he laughed at me and said no, he said that they already have contracts with other ragis so it's not possible. So, i pushed him into giving me a time slot during a weekdays but even then he didn't let me. He also then said that no body other than the ragis and the granthis can go on stage, indicating that i can't do anything.

I then very politely asked for half an hour to do simran only - and he had the adacity to say, why would you want to do anything here when there is no sanagat and that the darbar hall is empty. When he said this I was so shocked, I told him that it doesn't matter for the sangat as Maharaj Ji himself is present but even then he didn't take his words back. The conversation kept going back and forth and this point and i wasn't getting anywhere. I tried everything, but he laughed it all of.

Now here is the bit which aggravated me, I asked him if he was part of the committee and he said he was. He then asked me why I asked him that and whether I wanted to join the committee. Now, I had no intention of joining any committee, but just to see what his answer was going to be I said that I did want to be part of the committee - you know what he did then, he laughed in my face and said 'well I'm sorry, but you can't'. I was shocked at this but I decided to laugh back and said 'Oh, really, is it because you think I am a child?' (I'm 21 btw). He then laughed even more and said no, that wast the reason, so i asked him what the reason was and with MASSIVE smirk he said it was because I was a female. I instantly tried to argue my way around this, telling him that this is going against what out gurus say. The worst part - he didn't give a sh*t!! He said why would females be on the committee when it consists of all males who are old. I always asked about arguments during meetings and he owned up saying that they have arguments etc in the darbar hall.

So basically, i didn't get anywhere and i told him that i will be back lol.

But truth is, I have no idea what I plan to do - all I know is that I want to and that I will do something about this corruption - but this is where i need all your help. I would like you guys to give me some suggestions as to what I can do - education-wise, I think I know enough to argue their points. I'm looking for action to take place.

I genuinely appreciate all of you who have taken your time outto read this and offer advice.

Sorry, what I meant to say was that we do not know how to use proper techniques via Simran or Gurbani.
Naturally, if one is a regular Nitnemi these things wont effect in the first place.
Sometimes these things also work under Gods will then what will we do ;(

It's bigger than that. It's about having physically and mentally strong Sikhs (especially but not solely the men) who are increasingly becoming weak in both body and mind.
It's not about actively preventing attacks that can take place at any time at any place. It's about dealing with the aftermath of these.
Put simply, if some people were to angrily attempt to avenge some theoretical heinous terrorist attack and target Sikhs because of mistaken identity or just because they don't like Sikhs/foreigners, having hordes of strong tough men about will send a strong dissuasive message, as opposed to having a bunch of out of shape or undernourished weaklings - that look like sitting ducks. It's not complicated. Plus there is the health factor to work in as well. A lot of our people are well out of shape.
We need to resurrect the aspect of our culture where the majority aspire to be physical strong and are clued up to potential threats against us. Terrorists are going to do what they are going to do - we just have to be ready for the after effects.

    A few more...
On the blackboard, an English Professor wrote the words:
A woman without her man is nothing

He asked his students to punctuate it correctly.
    All the males wrote:
"A woman without her man, is nothing."
    All the females wrote:
"A woman: Without her, man is nothing."

There was a science teacher sitting in the back, and much to the male student's chagrin, he admitted the female students were correct.
Without women giving birth, men would not even be here (hmm sounds a lot like what Guru Nanak Dev Ji said!!
And then he told the male students to remember that women can function just fine on their own, while they are sleeping outside in the dog house.

    Which brings me to this:

Dictionary definition of the word "Single"

This section was meant for light hearted jokes........but in reality, both Man and Woman are part of the same universe where duality is the primary force. If we want to cross this ocean, then we've got to learn how to traverse this duality.
And where-ever (read everywhere) there is duality, it follows the following common rules:
    1. Opposition: They constantly interact with each other, hence the alteration and development of an object.
    2. Inter-dependence: They rely on each other for existence, coexisting in a singe entity. E.g If we look from space, we see that night and day actually coexist.
    3. Mutual consumption and support: Positive and Negative each give of themselves to nourish the other.
    4. Inter-transformation: Man can become Woman and Woman can become Man....one can change into the other, but it is not a random event, happening only when the time is right....may be next births depending upon the karmas.
    5. Infinite sub-divisibility
let me end this with another joke:
Husband takes the wife to a disco. There’s a guy on the dance floor giving it large – break dancing, moonwalking, back flips, the works. The wife turns to her husband and says: "See that guy? 25 years ago he proposed to me and I turned him down." Husband says: "Looks like he’s still celebrating!!"

Baba Deep Singh is mentioned many times in the Panth Prakash. His shaheedi is given in GIani Gian Singh's Panth Prakash:

    ਅਧਿਕ ਦਮਦਮੇਂ ਰਹਿ ਤਲਵੰਡੀ । ਹੁਤੋ ਬੀਰ ਬਰ ਬਲੀ ਘਮੰਡੀ ।
He would remain at Damdama Sahib in Talwandi. He was a great and brave warrior.

When hearing about the disrespect at the Gurdrawa [Harimandar], The spirit of Chandi arose within him.

Baba Ji organized an Akhand Paat and completed a Havan [before heading towards the battle] and tied a wedding bracelet around his wrist [a preparation for martyrdom as death is seen as a merging with their beloved Lord]

The battle that ensued was quite ferocious.

Arrows, Battle standards, and Double edged swords move throughout the battle field like snakes.

Giani Gian Singh continues to describe the greatness of Baba Deep Singh Ji by saying,

Shahid Deep Singh was the great king of the Panth ! Wherever he ran he caused great destruction [to the enemy forces]

Giani Ji later on speaks about the famous event where Baba Ji lost his head in battle.

The sword moved very quickly from both warriors [Baba Ji and his enemy]. Because of the strikes were at the same time, both of the warriors heads came off.

His head was picked up and placed on his left hand, and with his right hand he held his sword.

When the Jatha of Singhs arrived at Amritsar at the Ramsar sarovar the cries of victory were heard.

The loud cries of victory were yelled ! Extremely happy the Gods and Goddesses came to greet them and were dropping flowers like rain [upon the warriors]

Oh listen to the story of [Baba] Deep Singh Shaheed. Everyone over and over again cries, [Baba ji is] Blessed Blessed !

I know, it's embarrassing and it must give those goray a proper ego boost to see all our fudhoos fawning over them too.
Thing with other more shrewd communities (like saw Jews)  is that they try and use politicians to achieve their own ends (essentially manipulating them), with our pendus, they are just happy for some attention and a few mittay words - that's always been their downfall.
