you may be doing this in a slightly forced fashion
When you are going into steady state sehaj, then the breathing would be shallow and heart rate would also drop. At this stage it's quite easy to hold after an inhale and let the breath out very slowly whilst doing gurmantar. You don't wanna breath in -->hold with force-->and then exhale with relief. Trick is to breathe in, hold for few seconds or longer .-->and then let the exhalation occur very slowly.  This way, you don't end up taking a long gasp for air when letting go of breath hold.
Try the Rom Rom technique first, especially at the navel. Should feel the pulsation and doing gurmantar with it will help provide support for prana. ( ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀ ਤੂ ਮੇਰੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰੈ ॥Parabẖ jī ṯū mere parān aḏẖārai.)
Personally, I'd recommend practicing rom rom technique as it goes hand in hand with khumbak. As soon as breath is held, rom rom gets prominent and shabad gets louder instantly.

"Can you please swear on the life and health of your LOVED ones that you are being honest on this forum?"
Paapiman Ji, one of Guru Sahib's hukams under 52 hukams was not to trust a person who swears in the name of loved ones.
We may take it to the old context when Aurangzeb promised Guru Gobind Singh Ji in the name of Quran to let all Sikhs peacefully leave the fort and reach their destination but broke his promise.
But still, Rehat is universal and not bound to time. We still are to follow 52 hukams sincerely (I am a fool and don't claim to be rehitvaan but all Sikhs have to follow hukams of guru sahib).
A Sikh should neither believe in 'Kasam' nor practice this himself.
One funny thing came in my mind just now. When I was totally strange to Sikhi and a pure Manmukh (still I am), me and my friends used to steal pens and leadpencils of our classmates in school when they were a new trend and if we were suspected, we would immediately say "If I'm lying, me or my family will die!" and they would leave us.😂😂  We knew that it was just falsehood and no truth. We gathered a large collection in name of God though. Today, I regret doing that when I had Singh with my name. Anyways, main point is 'Kasam' is brahmanvaad.

And even if 'she' is female, there have been cases of female muslim girls befriending vulnerable Sikh females to then go on and help some blokes in the grooming process. This is fishy as hell. Who in their right mind, in this day and age, asks people to give them a random female's personal number??
I mean it's not like there aren't a thousand and one resources (books, online articles, youtube videos, podcasts etc. etc.) for people to learn these days.
Be careful this ain't a pervert fishing for some gullible people. The name says a lot too - 786.

I see what you mean,,  My meaning is that it is wise to have pillow in such direction so that when lying down; the head is in line with earths electromagnetic field, which is itself pointing North. If you look at a diagram showing these fields, you might remember that a straight energy line runs from North to South in the field.. The idea is to be parallel in this field. As for facing the pillow or having your back to it, many people don't think it matters because you are still sitting straight with your own energy fields being paralle-l as you have to remember that the direction is upwards and straight.(remember it is 3-D and not as in 2 dimensional diagram)
I hope you can see what I mean as it's tricky to explain and I'm not very good at wording this kind of stuff!

    @harsharan000 and @Sikhilove
Interesting topic. Without butting into a debate, I have to say that as per my understanding of "truthful living" and good deeds; I would agree with @harsharan000 .
@Sikhilove,  let me explain below on why I come to this conclusion.
Doing good deeds falls under the umbrella of Satogun behavior.. Remember that maya is divided into tamogun, rajogun and satogun. >the 3 gunas of maya..  Since maya is the creative illusion, it is also in a continuous flux of motion. Sometimes we call it Kaal's desh since this motion is relative to Time and Space.  However, it is not the Satch or absolute truth.  Yet, we also know that the Satcha Nirankar exists among us in this illusion, therefore we can say that elements of the ultimate truth are within maya but that doesn't mean that the satch is maya..    You following what i mean?
Now, the shabad you quoted above and similar shabads, all have to be taken in context to the message of Sat within the shabad..  Let's have a look at the one you quoted......
    ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਮਨੁ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਸਾਚੁ ਸਮਾਲੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
Merā mano merā man nirmal sācẖ samāle rām.
My mind, my mind has become immaculately pure, contemplating the True Lord.
    ਅਵਗਣ ਮੇਟਿ ਚਲੇ ਗੁਣ ਸੰਗਮ ਨਾਲੇ ਰਾਮ ॥
Avgaṇ met cẖale guṇ sangam nāle rām.
I have dispelled my vices, and now I walk in the company of the virtuous.

    ਅਵਗਣ ਪਰਹਰਿ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੀ ਦਰਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਚਿਆਰੋ ॥
Avgaṇ parhar karṇī sārī ḏar sacẖai sacẖi▫āro.
Discarding my vices, I do good deeds, and in the True Court, I am judged as true.

    ਆਵਣੁ ਜਾਵਣੁ ਠਾਕਿ ਰਹਾਏ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਤਤੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੋ ॥
Āvaṇ jāvaṇ ṯẖāk rahā▫e gurmukẖ ṯaṯ vīcẖāro.
My coming and going has come to an end; as Gurmukh, I reflect upon the nature of reality.

    ਸਾਜਨੁ ਮੀਤੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ਸਖਾ ਤੂੰ ਸਚਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥
Sājan mīṯ sujāṇ sakẖā ṯūʼn sacẖ milai vadi▫ā▫ī.
O my Dear Friend, You are my all-knowing companion; grant me the glory of Your True Name.

I'll elaborate a little further as per my understanding.-  In this context, the key and root of shabad is the first pangtee.  "My mind, my mind has become immaculately pure,"  Shabad mentions of how the Mann has been purified. Further, it goes on to say... since it is now purified (via simran), I can dispel my vices (ie. the 5 chor)
NOTE- one can only beat the 5 chor once the veils and dirt have been removed from the Mind.  Yes, by doing satogun deeds we can dodge and maneuver around the dhoots, but you won't actually be able to conquer them unless the Mann has been purified by Naam simran.  Why? because then the game gets governed by Naam,
The important point I'm trying to make is that  the goal is to purify the mann. The mann needs to be purifed enough so that Naam can become manifest. Once naam is pargat, then you can proceed towards revealing the mann's jyot (mann tu jyot swaroop hai).   I firmly believe and understand that the mann won't be purified enough (ie. to get naam) by doing satogunni good deeds alone.  Hope you follow what I'm saying here?

    Interesting!
Some of you may be aware that I had experienced a NDE and was in a coma for nearly a month...but I don't go into details on an open forum.
This guy was talking about it just after a year... but in all honesty...it takes more than a few years to put all the pieces together and understand it.

I can usually comprehend the genuine NDE descriptions,so I will give my opinion on this one....and it is fairly genuine, except that I think he hasn't fully understood and realized yet !

My opinion is that he did come from one of the heavenly realms before his life on earth.
The fact, that in this life, he rejected God, the power, the divine...... is why he was susceptible to all the darker and negative energies which accounted for his numerous illnesses.

The easiest way to think of how these energies work is to think of your 'SOUL' or God energy as that which exists as a white light.
The more attached to God and the more God realized ---->>then the brighter and stronger the energy of this white light.

Stronger white light in a body---->>>makes the body less susceptible to energies of dark light... this also means poot, pret, jantar mantar, curses, black magic...and all that.... are less likely to affect such body.

Then on the other hand, if a person has hardly any white divine light in them---->>> then, their bodies are more likely to be consumed by the darker and depriving energies of ill health, disease, depression...and even suicide.

Think of "GU-RU"...from darkness to light !

He witnessed the Cosmic arrangement and from what he was trying to explain as really fast travel--->>>was about the real ''interstellar'' cosmic shift through light years of space in no concept of time!... 5th dimension!
This is how "Gobind"-(Lord of the Universe)....shows you what your existence really is.
It is tailored for each individual, which is why, No two experiences are ever exactly the same !.... OR they wouldn't be called experiences.

He said that wherever he was, "in this valley"... he felt comfortable and at home to say!....... that's because he had come from there originally, which means he was already out of lakh chaurasi before birth! (not sure if some of you will get this...can explain later)

Basically, the only way that he could move up from any of those heavens to sachkhand.. was by taking birth as a human again.... and from some of the heaven loks, you can actually do this by choice or will.

Human birth-existence, means---->>> live out or bhog your karams,, which are basically the weight that hold you into a realm.

However, his denial and complete lack of dharam (one of the four padaraths)----->>> predisposed him to the darker energies of ill-being and ill health.

But the biggie for him was the Blessing of GRACE and KIRPA by Akaal Purakh..........so that he got another chance to complete his duties.
This is HUKAM--->>>None of us can ever explain how or why.

This is what happens when you get thrown back into lack chaurasi again......the jamdoots come and club you with the iron dhandey, tie you up in shackles and lead you away as Kabirji says in gurbani.
You see, this guy was already out of the lack chaurasi from his previous janam, which is why he went straight into some lower/middle heaven lok--->>>since, he cam from there originally.

The other point is that as Guru Tegh Bahadurji describes...."This janam and life is just like a dream, when we wake up(which is when we die),-->> we realize that none of this life was real."

If you just imagine that when you are in a dream---->>It all seems quite real when you are in it...the people,.....the interactions,.... everything.... will seem like a reality in the dream state...... But, when you wake up-->>You realize that it wasn't real after all,.... it was just a dream, and now you are in the reality...dam-gotta getup in 30 mins and go to work
In the same manner,.... Death is like the waking up from this matrix illusion.

A reason why there is a difference within NDE descriptions is,.. because it depends on what and where you were from in previous janams.
Lakh chaurasi is the complete universal cycle and then there are all the heaven loks that go from lower to higher realms but there are some levels after which you cannot ascend unless you have human birth.

The ascension within realms can happen, but this is in the ones where jamdoots take you, where you have to realize, learn and accept all your dark wrongdoings.
So for eg,, you may end up in the dark pit of where all the murderer jivas are.... You will enjoy their company until you realise, accept and learn your own shortcomings and sin of murdering.....in doing so, you will be able to rise above the rest, as your inner light will get brighter.... then you move on to the next lessons.....and so on.....

The MAIN point that I can stress is that, when a soul jiva is in this Human Life form---->>> This is it's only chance to jap, meditate, get the one-pointed awareness......so that it can go straight --->>> Sachkhand.
The Direct one way plane ticket that Guru Nanak Ji has taught us-->>Nanak naam jahaz hai

In the Video, Mr Jaswal has got some idea about his mind-no thoughts-...etc...because he mentioned it a few times....But he hasn't quite said that he has deciphered the message that he must Jap and meditate. This is why he was given the second chance.

As I stated above, I don't go into details about my NDE on an open forum, but I can tell you all that the main message and duty that I came back for was ...Jap, Simran ..and bhagti on His Name.
That was the ONLY thing I knew I had to do but I had never done it previously. In fact, I was never even spiritually inclined in any way.........so it took me a couple of years to work out how to get going and do bhagti.

The Dhan/Wealth of Naam is only carried forward from this realm of human life.

Below is some info on ajapa jap, which has made me pursue this approach whilst hearing the anhad naad.
It has also been referenced in some very early posts below

    http://www.sikhawareness.com/index.php/topic/7613-ajapa-jaap/

AJAPA JAAP (continuous repetition of Naam/ Waheguru) is the spiritual condition of a person when the Simran (repitition of Waheguru) goes on an auto pilot mode in your Surat (mind) and in your Hirdey (heart) as explained below. It means that Simran becomes a round the clock thing inside you, Simran doesn’t stop at any moment, it carries on and such a condition comes with Gurkirpa (God/ the guru’s blessing) and after a lot of Bhagti Kamai(meditation) or can also be attained with the Kirpa (blessings) of a Puran Braham Gyani(ascended master). The experiences of bliss follow a path such as this:

    1. Jaap (repetition) with Tounge – Rasna – this happens in Dharam Khand

    2. Jaap with the breathing – with Swaas – this happens in Gyan Khand and Saram Khand

    3. Then Naam (waheguru) goes into your mind – Surat, in your thinking, then it becomes Simran from Jaap – this is a very good stage – this happens in Saram Khand and Karam Khand. (silent jap with anhad naad begins)

    4. The next stage is when Simran goes into Hirdey – this one is even much higher stage when Naam goes into Hirdey – this is where it goes on an automatic mode, this is where the real bhagti(meditation) starts. (this is the auto Ajapa jap as mentioned )

    5. The next stage is when Simran travels to the Nabhi, when Nabhi Kamal(lotus)blossoms – Karam Khand

    6. The next Stage is when Simran goes into Kundlini – Mooladhaar Chakkar and spine – Karam Khand

    7. The next stage is when Simran travels through the spine to the brain, and back to Surat where it completes the cycle.

This is what the real Mala (rosary) of Naam (meditation) is. When this happens then the Gyan Netter and Dassam Duaar (10th Gate) opens and you form a permanent connection with Akal Purakh (God), you start to receive divine knowledge – “Braham Gyan”.- This happens in Sach Khand. Enjoyment – Anand in Smadhi and Sun Smadhi is beyond description.
That is why the enlightened souls go into very deep meditation some time for days together. You experience a lot of things during your Smadhi and Sun Smadhi, see a lot of things, meet a lot of Saints, Gurus, see Param Jyot, conversation with the Sants and Akal Purakh , it is beyond description wh at happens and through what you go when you go into deep meditation. This is the stage when all the doors – Bajjar Kapaat are opened and there is a continuous flow of Amrit, body is always full of Amrit.

    8. The Simran in Smadhi and Sun Smadhi continues until NIRGUN AND SARGUN becomes one, at this point Simran goes into rom-rom – every bit of your body does Naam Simran, your Suksham Dehi becomes as pure as gold, your entire body is filled with Naam Amrit all the time. You become Braham Leen, and reach Atal Awastha.
These stages are beyond description. Sat Chit Anand Ghar Hamare – Gurmukh Rom Rom Har Dhyae – Nirgun Sargun Nirankaar Sun Smadhi Aap, Apan Kia Nanka Apan Hi Fir Jaap and so on. One lives in Puran Parkash all the time and listens to Ilahi
Kirtan(heavenly Kirtan/singing)– Anhad Naad Dhunis (heavenly music) all the time.

I have also read that Anhad naad can begin to manifest in the transformation from Gyan khand to Saram khand.

Many higher beings advise that the nam jap should stop when anhad dhuni starts. For quite some time, i carried on with regular nam jap and trying to leave the sounds in the background !
I am getting the strong inclination that ajapa jap should be my next approach, but I could be completely wrong !

Singhji, it's a little difficult to explain but I don't think t lures you away from real bhagti.
We have to use some form of tool to help focus and put our fixation on bhagti.
When meditating, some people use a little black dot or mandala to stare at. Some use a candle flame or jyot, but as sikhs, we use the dhun of gurmantar, tikuti, focus between brows, navel..etc..
I've learned that it is trying to find the right jugti that suits each of us according to how much devotion and bairaag we have.

TBH, I've never talked too much about it in great detail.. I never even told my mother because she was way too drowned in maya. But I can tell you there are many fictional and fake versions out there, so you have to be careful what you read.
It was quite confusing for a few years because there were also a lot of things happening whilst I were in the month long coma. It took quite a few years to make sense of it since I'd also suffered significant brain and spinal injuries.
Did I believe in judgment day, the court or an after life?  I don't think I did, but probably believed in some kind of hereafter.  Prior to 2011, I was typical lad doing lots of bad stuff. and I really mean stuff that I'd be too ashamed to mention on here.  I'd do paaps and hera fairees like the rest of them among me all week long, and then go gurdwara on Sunday, giving large donations in the hope that my guilty conscience may be forgiven in some way.
The thing about getting your hasab done at the court is different for everybody depending on what karams or fates you may have faced in previous janams.  In my case, I had previously begged for another janam to go and jap naam. I had been given this jeevan to do that. However, I came, never japped naam but instead created more bad karams whilst lost in this land of maya.
I didn't have jamms beat me,  but I went past them at one stage and could see them beating others whilst hearing screams and pains of torture. I somehow knew that the ones suffering were there to learn from past deeds.
Nowadays, I understand my sole purpose in life and the certain tasks that I've been assigned to do from the higher sources. Jap naam and bhagtee are the priorities and I try to schedule everything else around that as compared to one who attempts to fit in bhagtee if and where they may have some time

    Thanks Lucky Jee.
From your post, at least a couple of conclusions can be made.
First, that no matter how much paapee one can be, there is always mercy from His side, more than deserved by any of us.
Secondly, the very essence of Sikhee, which is the bhagtee of Naam japna to free ourselves from all our entanglements and above all, to stay out of the reach of Jam doots. (There where Nam abides, not even Kal Purush dares to come near).
In this sense, I will not add anything more, let each one make an inner self consciouss exam of oneself, and see if one is doing that bhagti, of which you are an example, a witness, and that which is the true devotion performed as mentioned throughout the Bani.
It is a mark of His grace also, that you are relating us what we all ought to do, and fear a bit at least, in doing any harm/misbehaviour of any type with anybody in His creation.
    Once again thanks.
