Firstly it's very unlikely that any Sikh would become a Hindu although some through ignorance of Sikh teachings will take part in Hindu rituals. Even if one did it's very unlikely that Punjab would burn as you said but you are well known to make ignorant statements so there is nothing new here.

Vikram Singh Khalsa is just following the footsteps of those brave Hindus throughout history who in order to challenge tyranny and injustice joined the Khalsa Panth. The more docile and unadventurous Hindus remained Hindu. You are the progeny of that type of Hindu.

Who the hell was even talking to you? Did I quote your post? Did I call YOU SPECIFICALLY a retard?

Fact is there are people out there that'll try and bash every single aspect of Sikhi (like the Hindu nutballs on this forum) regardless of concrete evidence being put before them. Trying to convince Sikhs they're Hindu's. That the Dasam Granth and Sarbloh Granth weren't written by Guru Ji. That Guru Ji wasn't a hunter and a warrior. Now you doubt his 52 Hukams. Next you'll be telling me it's possible he didn't write the Zafarnama.

It's ridiculous. It's not discussion, it's a misguided attempt to shake peoples faith.

Have some GODDAMN faith in your Guru you moron, that's what being a Sikh is about. Trust your Guru's words, follow them as best you can, and don't question them unless you eventually discover SOLID PROOF and reason to reject it. The burden of proof is not on Guru (who is perfect, the light of God on earth), it is on the people trying to denigrate him.

There are plenty of things in Sikhi that require a small leap of faith but we make it anyway. Sikhs believe that Baba Deep Singh (an 80 year old man) had such immense power that after being beheaded in a duel with a Muslim commander (who was also beheaded), picked his head back up, and continued to slay countless enemies with his head in one hand and swinging his 15 kilogram Khanda in the other (most swords are only 1KG).

You want VIDEO evidence of that too?

Do you realise how PETTY you sound when you say stupid crap like you said? When you doubt that Guru Gobind could have written just a short list of commandments one sunny afternoon?

"Just looks like a modern collection of random extracts to me."

THAT is what you said remember. You came into this thread with the expectation they are false.

Sikhs have had decades of research time to discover whether or not the 52 Hukams are problematic. You think YOU know better?

MOST religions are based on absolutely zero evidence or scientific awareness, to the point where you can't even conclusively prove their prophets existed or not. The Hadiths are nothing more than a buncha rumours (like a game of Telephone) written centuries after Mohammed's apparent death by eating a poisoned goat.

    That said.

The sullay are gonna follow their religion no matter what. Even if someone gives absolute proof Mohammed didn't exist. No matter how many times you tell them of Mohammed and his followers countless crimes and disgusting acts. No matter how many times you dissect the Koran and prove its ridiculous in front of them. They'll come up with a million excuses.

Frankly some Sikhs (like the kind of pacifist hippies who use Sikh forums) could use that kind of blind resolve. We'd get a lot more done.

Save your 'amazing' critical thinking ability for something that's actually positive.

Simply? OK. Please explain - Student of?

You aka "Hindu" are living on a name given by Arabs, persians & other foreigners.? What do You call yourself? Or should we say that these "other" foreigners left a mark of slavery which you are still feel "proud" of? A set of people being identified based on geographical boundaries. When did this become a "religion"? Possibly this was "gifted" by the Arabs, persians & other foreigners?

Sri guru nanak dev ji got married around Ikongkar shabad written on leaf, this is confirmed in puratan literature - pre singh sabha time. Even from vedant(end of vedas-gyan aspect in vedas) this makes total sense most vedantis will agree that sri guru nanak dev ji upheld the essence- tat-sat of everything. I mean from absolute view (advaita) perception, everything else is discarded except tat gyan (essence). Since ikongkar/omkar is essence it make perfect sense sri guru nanak dev ji upheld essence of things on foundation of sikhi- got married around shabad-ikongkar than fire or sargun rituals.

Shabad is upheld in Gurmat, whilst creation-three dieties are given respect/glorified- given credit where its due ultimately shabad and shabad gian where all creation rises/subsides in -essence are upheld over anything else.

The point to going and attending somewhere is whether you shall be able to conduct yourself with a respect and dignity that becomes a gursikh. If you shall be able to conduct yourself like a Gursikh you can go to a prom or anywhere else. At a prom probably there might be flirtations with opposite sex, there will be liberties taken, there might be alcohol or some drug or something like that. Ask yourself what kind of environment would there be? Would there be focus on looking sexy and attractive and impressing others and looking cool? All these values are not in line with being a gursikh.

Guru is more concerned about sikh intentions than just going to external places. Remember story from soraj parkash of sikhs going to mela: This is ithasik sakhi- In Sri guru gobind singh ji darbar there were two group of sikhs wanted to go to mela but one can go..one had to do seva of guru maharaj ..sri guru gobind singh ji sent one group of people to test and others were not too happy. So after themela group came back..both groups were called in guru maharaj darbar..the group that went to mela were addressed- o sikhs you guys are great, during your time spent in mela your mind was attached to my lotus feet, you were thinking about me , you guys were bairaagi you guys were gurmukh maya vich udasi now guru maharaj addressed to the group which was in hazaar nazaar in sri guru gobind singh ji hazoori doing seva, guru maharaj said even though you were physically present in guru maharaj darbar try to do seva physically, your mind was wandering in mela, have all sort of thoughts things in mela...in this way guru maharaj gave updesh to both groups.

The oldest manuscripts of Chaupa Singh have the sentence "Jo sikh, sikhni noo khande di pahul deve so tankhahyia". An oldest copy was lying in Sikh Reference Library. Fortunately it was copied before blue star. It has the sentence "Jo sikh, sikhni nu khande di pahul deve so tankhahia". It is available in print to verify.

savinderpalsingh reacted to shaheediyan in Meaning of Sarab Loh
I came across this article from a Sikhnet posting where "Sarvaloha" is translated as "all metals".

Interesting with regards to the popular/mainstream understanding that it means "pure Iron". Apologies if this sounds like a typical Tapoban discussion, I just found the historic reference very interesting.

"The powder of all the metals (sarvaloha) as red as fire, or the mixture of the powder of kumbhí (gmelia arberea, sísa (lead), trapu (zinc), mixed with the charcoal powder of the flowers of páribhadraka (deodar), palása (Butea Frondosa), and hair, and with oil, wax, and turpentine, is also an inflammable powder."

    http://www.mssu.edu/projectsouthasia/histo...ra/BookXIII.htm

    Sikhnet post:

    Waheguru ji ka khalsa
    Waheguru ji ki fateh

    <<The>>

We normally think that stainless steel is pure iron, it is not. It contains chromium and nickel alloyed with iron in significant amounts that is why it does not get rusted.

We have conveniently translated the term 'Sarab Loh' as 'Pure Iron'. In old literature 'Sarab Loh' meant all available metals other than gold. Shakats or worshippers of godess or shakti considered metals as manifestations of godess's shakti hence in addition to worshipping 'iron' or 'iron weapons' worshipped all metals and collective term 'Sarab Loh' was used for these.

Incidentally iron became known much later than other metals in India. Copper and alloys of copper especially bronze were known for making weapons much earlier in Bronze Age.

We find word 'Sarva Loha' mentioned in Chankya's Arth Shastar. See the URL below:

    http://www.mssu.edu/projectsouthasia/histo...ra/BookXIII.htm

"The powder of all the metals (sarvaloha) as red as fire, or the mixture of the powder of kumbhí (gmelia arberea, sísa (lead), trapu (zinc), mixed with the charcoal powder of the flowers of páribhadraka (deodar), palása (Butea Frondosa), and hair, and with oil, wax, and turpentine, is also an inflammable powder."

Here Chankaya is giving a recipe for coating the tip of an arrow with an incediary mixture, iginiting it, and firing towards a beseiged fort in order to set on fire to help end the siege. The relevant phrase used is 'Sarvaloha Chooran' meaning powder of Sarvloh.

Elsewhere in wikipedia under 'Arth Shastara' under the metals the Sarvloh metals listed are Silver, Iron, Zinc, Tin, and Lead.

I do agree that it was the Namadhari Baba Ram Singh ji who was the first to give Khande di Pahul to females. He, however, did not ask the initiated females to append 'Kaur' epithet to their first names. Their names we can see in letters Baba Ram Singh wrote to them from exile in Burma given in 'Kookian di Vithiya' by historian Ganda Singh. The names in letters are 'Juali', Uttami, Hukami ( a Namdhari official of 'Suba' rank), Chando, and Gurdei were female preachers, Sukkhan, Bhagan, Hukman, Sahibo, and Upma were other females whom letters weer written. Nanda, Rupa, Boli, were other females mentioned. Jassan ji was his mother and Ram Dei his daughter.

Singh Sabha Bhasaur Panch Khalsa Diwan in their writings also claim that it was they who began Khande di Pahul for females for the first time ignoring the role of Namdharis. However, they can be credited for not just Khande di Pahul for the females but also in addition giving 'Kaur' second name to females. In earlier history we do not find any categorical assertion that females be given Khnde di Pahul and given second name 'Kaur'. Although we do see 'Kaur' Sikh females, it is only among females of ruling families that makes one feel that 'Kaur' second name was more of a status symbol rather than a religious requirement.

In Sikh history we find that when Sikhs were politically struggling, or hadn't become sovereign rulers, females in the family were rarely 'Kaur'. Eg. 'Fatto' wife of Ala Singh, Bibi Padhan, daughter of Ala Singh, Rajindran, grand daughter of Ala Singh. didn't have 'Kaur' name while males all took Khande di Pahul from Dal Khalsa staying at Thikriwala near Barnala. Similar situation we find in several other families. The first female to be given 'Kaur' name in Patiala ruling house was Sahib Kaur born during second half of the eighteenth century when this royal family had become sovereign after the fear of Abdali was gone in 1760s. Sikh females with Kaur are seen in history mostly from second half of eighteenth century. We do not find any Kaur earlier. Although we do see sehajdhari Khatris do have Kaur females as well as Kaur males continuing their pre 1699 tradition.

Among decendents of Baba Buddha ji of Ramdas was Ram Kanwar later baptised by tenth Guruji as Gurbakhash Singh. He had threee wives who were without any Kaur epithet. His son Mohr Singh was married to Bibi Pardhan daughter of Ala Singh. He married another lady named Deso. Both these females had no 'Kaur' second name despite being highly respected as descendents of Baba Buddha ji and close to tenth Guruji.
In any case we have the example of Guru Mahals. Mata Jito ji being around the 1699 Baisakhi event there is no indication that she was given name with a 'Kaur' second name. Neither did Mata Sundari nor Mata Sahib Devan.

    savinderpalsingh ji
I also believe that at quite an early stage it had been agreed that females be given an alternative form of Amrit such as Kirpan da Amrit.

Please excuse my ignorance. There are several hukamnamas available written by Mata Sundari and mata Sahib Devan ji written during second decade of eighteenth century more than fifteen years after tenth Guruji passed away. Still they wrote their names Sundari and Sahib Devi. Apparently they had not taken Khande di Pahul. Had they done so they would have written their names as Sunder Kaur and Sahib Kaur. Does it mean that what Sanatan Sikhs of Amritsar Singh Sabha were writing is true that at the time of tenth Guru ji or till Singh Sabhas period females were not given Khande da Amrit. Hence, logically, females without Having taken Khande da Amrit could not partcipate in adminitering Pahul.

However now that there is no such restriction in SRM for females to receive Khande DI Pahul, there should be no ban to be a panj piari.

Both works outline the Sikh worldview which is totally contrary to the one you Hindus like to espouse of Sikhs being just a bunch of Keshdhari Hindus.
