The following is a short passage from Gurpratap Suraj Prakash Granth [1843], written by Kavi Santhok Singh Ji. This section is found several sections after the Battle of Khindrana [December 1705], where Mai Bhago lost her husband and two brothers.
Upon meeting [Guru Gobind Singh Ji] at Mukhstar, Mai Bhago's love for the Guru increased greatly, [to the extent that she] began living naked paying no attention to the publics [thoughts of] modesty and honour.
In the Vedas there is a story of [an asetic] named Gargee who lived naked. She was known as a Paramhansni [Brahmgyani - but term also used for a section of the Sanyasi order], in this same way [Mai] Bhago was a great ascetic of the Guru.
While always remaining intoxicated in the flavour of the One Blissful Essence she would carry along with her a spear and a small metal pot in her hands. She remained naked for many months and one day when seeing the Guru, the Guru remarked:
    'ਸੁਨਿ ਮਾਈ ਭਾਗੋ ਸਚਿਆਰੀ । ਕੁਲ ਨੈਹਰਿ ਸਸੁਰਾਰਿ ਉਬਾਰੀ ।
    ਪਰਮਹੰਸ ਆਵਸਥਾ ਪਾਈ । ਤੁਝ ਕੋ ਦੋਸ਼ ਨ ਲਗੈ ਕਦਾਈ ।39।
"Listen oh truthful Mai Bhago, do not destroy your lineage and the [honour] of your In-Laws. [However] You have obtained the state of Paramhans [Brahmgyani] and you will not be blamed for anything.
You [have become comfortable] remaining naked; your mind is continuously attached to the flavour [of Paramatmaa]. The ego of your body has been destroyed in your heart; you have obtained the Highest Indestructible form.
However even then you live with us, [for this reason], put on a Kach [underwear] and on your head tie a small Dastaar [turban]. Cover your body from now on with a shawl [Chadra]."
Listening to the command of the Guru, Mai Bhago agreed and covered her body with clothing. Holding her spear always in her hand, [Mai Bhago] forever held the desire to live alongside the Guru.

It should be recited 32 times. I personally would advise to first just practice it everyday for about 15-20 mins untill you can recite with flow. Im sending a link of giani mehta singh ji so you may want to listen and read along for your practice. Also last two lines of 'eh bola hargobind ka suno khalsa beer fateh pao mehdaan meh pakar hath shamseer' should also be recited..

No veereh not in any detail. Dasam granth bani is something i looked into years ago so some things that were said to me i remember vaguely and i do not want to misinform anyone so will only write things that i can say with conviction. At that time my memory was not good. Its difficult to get info on dasam bani especially when it comes to maryada of reciting certain banis and obviously doing akhand path on the internet. Even though google is a respected mahapursh hes not yet reached the avastha of bhramgian..lol
. As your from canada i would suggest getting in touch with baba nihal singh and asking him as i know he stays out in canada for a period of time before returning to india normally just before holla. In terms of gian on dasam bani i would highly recomend giani sher singh ambala wale.
From my own understanding chandi di vaar and other dasam bani can be recited anytime.. Its a myth that if you recite chandi di vaar after sunset thins go 'wrong'..it doesnt work like that..  to increase pehra i would suggest holding shaster in one hand (any shaster, big or small) an if you can have jot with dhoop burning. If you decide to do it with jot and dhoop burning i would advise to recite at amritvela. Rest is up to you bro.

samurai got a reaction from Ragmaala in What kind of shower to take after workout ? Hot or Cold
After a workout i would recommend a cold shower it helps with muscle recovery and soreness. But it does depend on the individual as some say cold showers not cold enough to give you benefits of an ice bath.. I would say just experiment, that is what i did and be aware of the difference if any between cold and hot showers. Only so much reading we can do..trial and error veereh. :)
Generally speaking from my experience cold showers has helped me in many ways. I used to take cold showers everyday and the immediate difference i felt in myself was more awareness, higher concentration, more vibrant mood, better posture, brighter/glow in face and overall 'feel good factor' . Another thing it helped me out with was my hay fever, i no longer need to take tablets or nasal spray in summer. when i went back to warm/hot showers i felt the opposite. Not dramatically but very much noticeable. Also a big difference is that with warm/hot showers the natural oils in hair are washed away leaving it dry where as with cold showers the hair stays moist. I now have warm showers everyday but have cold showers in the evening every other day, reason i stopped cold showers is because it is really difficult getting out of bed in winter and turning that cold tap on..lol.
i would highly recommend cold showers, just be sensible in terms of your environment and more importantly your health (if you have any health issues consult doctor before taking cold showers). If you decide to take it everyday i would advise to gradually introduce your body to it, ie start warm slowly finish cold.
But in summer i stick to cold showers..This is just my opinion on cold showers from my experience.
Keep us updated if you decide to go ahead with cold showers...you may want to wait for weather to get warmer depending on where you are from.. Im from uk so winter is not that bad plus when i take cold showers i will not leave the house within the next hour of taking it but places like us and canada can be very cold this time of the year..

    Good luck!!

True...good tool for self awareness, but very rare to find any good astrologer. If I ever go to India, I will find the one sitting under the tree who looks so old and non materialistic and he can create my Chart lol. Back in mom dad days, many pundit or jyotish would come to pind and they would spend so many hours to create a chart and they would not even ask for a lot of money. One jyotish made a dad's Astro chart, it's so complicated with all that stuff but he was so right with dad's life and upcoming things. Puratan time astrology was considered a sewa and there was so no charge for that. But now it's a profession.

samurai reacted to BhagatSingh in Sikh Astrologer
When I went to India, one of my relatives showed me his janam patri, a thick book he got made from an astrologer.
He was an intelligent guy, and he told me that the writings in the book are possible life events. The book was broken down into multiple sections, where each sections was a time period of his life. The astrologer wrote about possibilities during each period in his life. Those writings formed a guideline for how to live best during that period.
He clarified that these were things that could happen. That he should watch out and learn to avoid the pitfalls and take up the opportunities.
For example, for one of the sections, it said something like, "During this time period you might face people who will get on your nerves, so you must bring awareness into your interactions and avoid conflicts. Also drive slowly and carefully to not get into accidents." I am giving a very brief summary here, it was much more detailed in the book.
I found this to be a useful tool in dealing with daily life. Reminders on small things that we might overlook. Reminders about our certain areas of our ahankar getting the best of us and how to keep it in check if it bloats up.
E.g. if you are the type of person who is easily irritated, you might need to read "people will get on your nerves, be careful" every single day, and work towards minimizing your irritation.
I read it and thought this was a good tool for developing self-awareness.
Afterall, Jyotish/Jyotik means one who gives knowledge of the self (jyoti)

This is shameful and getting embarrassing. Gurdwaras are meant to be a dharamshala  where seekers go to learn, practice and serve. This politics game is getting beyond a joke and its embarrassing that we as a community have to call the police every time there is an argument that these people cannot discuss as mature adults.
Correct me if im wrong, along with patience and humility Guru Gobind Singh ji also encouraged his sikhs to learn and practice debate skills.
sorry to say i did chuckle at first when the first bibi got floored but after that it was just silly.. also funny thing is that when i watched it i was not surprised or shocked as it seems to be a common trend to kick off in gurdwareh in us and canada..

Stated another way, Hukam is the present moment.
In simple words, Hukam is the here and now.

    From Jap ji Sahib -
"How can one realize the truth that all is impermanent?
By staying with the current of the eternal present moment one can recognize things for what they truly are.
What is the eternal present moment?
The eternal present moment cannot be stated, you can only be with it. But know that it is in the present moment in which things take form, in which living beings come to life, in which greatness is obtained, in which one becomes high or low, in which pleasure and pain is received. Everything is happening inside this eternal moment, there is nothing outside of it."

samurai reacted to amardeep in Varied Spiritual Approaches in Gurmat - Vichār Sāgar
    From the same blog:

Nichal Dās (1791-1863), author of Vichar Sagar,  was a very prominent Vedāntist scholar. His work was written in Brij Bhāshā, and quickly became apart of the curriculum amongst the traditional scholarly lineage schools, the Udasi's and Nirmala's. The main point of the book was to expound upon the philosophy of Advāitā Vedāntā, the non-dualistic approach in the Vedas. The same philosophy underpins Gurmat, hence the start of every scripture begins with ੴ. The passage above is the 'Manglācharan', the beginning passage in salutation to their focus of worship, in Vichār Sāgar. Traditionally in Sikh literature, one would find Manglācharan's to ੴ, to Devi Ma Shakti, Nanak-Gūrū Gōbind Singh, and occasionally Ganesh. However this concept of recognizing, and using the Mantra of ਸੋਹੰ [I am That], That being the Infinite Ultimate Consciousness, is present in Gurmat.

Varied Spiritual Approaches in Gurmat - Vichār Sāgar
As mentioned previously on this site, Vichār Sāgar is a very important text in the curriculum of Udāsi, Nirmalā, Taksāl groups. This passage explains the different approaches toward spiritual practices. From one perspective there is a hierarchy leaning towards formless devotion/meditation [ਨਿਰਗੁਨ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ] but this does not lessen the importance of other approaches, as they are also paths toward enlightenment [ਮੁਕਤੀ]. It should be noted that the multiple approaches are not seen as mutually exclusive from one another. Similar passages are found in Gūrū Gōbind Singh Ji's, Gōbind Gitā, and Bhāi Mani Singh Ji's, Sikhan Dian Bhagat Mālā.
