I wouldn't say that it's about being annoyed...but it's time to move on........maybe do some serious taksali discussions on gurbani, as N30 suggests above.

I said earlier that Paapiman seems quite young and we elders know that he will learn much more with age and time.

Some of us may or may not agree with his statements...but I must say that I like the fact that he STRONGLY stands up for what he believes is right!.......
I have probably giggled at his persistence and some of his arguments, but he firmly believes what he knows as the truth and he gives it his utmost to defend it. In doing so, I haven't seen him go nutty or abusive like many other posters do!

We are all humans and we all have different qualities, strengths and weaknesses......But we do need young sikhs with these 'sher' like qualities....young sikhs that fight for what they believe is right,..what they believe is the truth......and especially in today's time when we have the realistic threat of extremists/terrorists in the name of Islam, trying to take over the world.

So, Paapiman...after seeing your little dramas on here...I can't help but say that..I admire your strength and persistence,... even though I may or may not agree.
All I can say is that you will begin to see things in a different light once you experience them...... things like marriage, women, bowing-respect. fatherhood, responsibilities......etc....and you will even,. hopefully,... one day realize that the sexual energies of lust and intimacy can be diverted towards the divine rather than our ego's (I know you won't get this yet!)

Don't assume that many of these abilities require high avasthas and are out of your reach. We can all reach them...we all have the same God/soul/jiva/jyot within us...problem is our Mind's and dhuts mask it and think they own it!

You always have to be prepared to learn more and that means to learn from our own mistakes. You should never just read a book and close it, thinking...that's it...i know it!......You have to leave it open and leave more room..... Only HUKAM closes the book and says ''That's it...times up..... let's see the lekha and kamayee"

BTW.... I think you would make a good lawyer, because you'd be good at defending the theory you have available........but I probably wouldn't suggest anything like sales or trades..as you may find it uneasy to modify and conform to customer/consumer demands

    Time to move on!

first of all, Sect, in indian context, means an organized tradition. It is different than sects in Christianity & Islam. So I will just use the word samparda. As you already know these various sampardas trace their root back in history. They all have a purpose & are not contradictory to each other. There are minor differences on the outside but inside the core principle is the same. They are needed and are very essential.

If it wasnt for these sant samaj, the sanctity & order of Banis in SGGS would not have been the same.

wow just found the perfect answer for silver cord as per Gurbani:

    Page 228, Line 18
    ਡੋਲੁ ਬਧਾ ਕਸਿ ਜੇਵਰੀ ਆਕਾਸਿ ਪਤਾਲਾ ॥੬
Dol baḏẖā kas jevrī ākās paṯālā. ||6||
Like the bucket tied to the rope in the well, you are pulled up to the Akaashic Ethers, and then lowered down to the nether regions of the underworld. ||6||
Guru Nanak Dev - view Shabad/Paurhi/Salok

There are many references to rope....this might be the silver cord you are witnessing.
Search for rope and you will find many references.

Many mythological tales are mentioned in gurbani, but the gurmat wasn't always interpreted or portrayed by brahmin masses...Instead people found it easier to understand deities....and that's the way it went!

Anyway, my take on both Prahlaad and Naamdayv(elephant story)....is about 'Naam' and 'shabad'
Prahlaad, at that young age of 5, realized to jap naam(hari)....he had awakened to the One formless -nirgun lord..If I remember correctly, his father demands to know where is this god of yours? ..and Prahlaad replies he is everywhere and in everything.

Naamdayv also japped naam of hari and, and found the lord's mansion within himself.

Gurmat messages of non-dual, formless, Truth....are there, but another important point from both of these...is that when one begins the journey of bhagti within...then they will get naam, they will get shabad,...they will overcome dualistic powers and they will begin to see the advait Waheguru within everything and everyone.......they,themselves will virtuallybe merging into the reality of Ek onkar.

However, gurbani tells us and warns us that those bhagats that take the path have to prove their devotion. They get naam, they get darshan/prakash, they get to experience the expanse of Gobind.....but they will still face obstacles...still face the tests.....every kind of brick wall can be put up in front of them and even the dead end walls of death come at the very end.. just as Prahlaad and Naamdayv encountered.
Waheguru wants to see if they continue to worship the same formless even if they can face the ultimate challenge of death...to see if they still NEVER demand that some thing saves them, but continue to worship the nirgun Truth..........AND that's when it happens.....Waheguru takes Sargun form and saves his devotee in front of everyone!

He blesses and saves the one who can prove their love with the ultimate prices.

I strongly agree with the translations forwarded by Satkirin jee.

Saints at different times have tried to explain the relation between a soul and the Lord with different relationships. Christ , described that relation, just as a one between a son and his father; Sree Ramakrishna as the one of a son and mother, and among others including our Guru Sahibans, is the one of a wife and her husband.

The strings which pull the both ends in all these relations, are absolute love and faith. That´s it. So let us not misunderstand the Bani. If a woman is attached to her husband physically, or the husband is attached to wife or any other worldy relations, it means, we are still in agyanta, because these relations create karmas, for which we shall have to come back one day to settle them, as a giver or a taker...

It is only, when we love Wahiguru, just as woman may love her husband, without looking here or there and due to the pull of His Love, we are constantly absorbed in Him.

So then naturally, what will happen?

Our true unconditional love for Him, will take us to His Darbar. This is what the two gyanis above are trying to tell us in their interpretations.

Worldly love, is an hindrance in our spiritual goal, divine love for Wahiguru, is the cause of our true freedom from the mayavee creation, and at same time, of our union or merging in Him.

We sholud love and interact with the world, only to the extent of adjusting and paying off our past karmas. Just as a maid, goes to work, but she in her innermost knows, that she has her own true home, where she has her children, husband or parents, and there she has to go at end of the day.

In a similar way, we are here because, from some we have to take, to others we have to give; all this, we must gladly perform our duties, as sons, daughters, spouses, etc....but knowing that, all this will be left behind one day, and the only Truth remaining in the end is Wahiguru Akal Purukh.

So it is unto Him, whom we should give all our hearts, minds and souls, and in return we shall get unbound grace, mercy and love ....

    The Bani beauifully says:
"Bhaee parapt manukh deh hureeya, Gobind milan kee yeh taeree bareeya"
    or
"bahut janam vichuretey Madao, ehe janam tumareh lekhey"

Bani hae Guru, Guru hae Bani.
    Sat Sree Akal.

Why should we even worry about who is or isnt a 'Brahmgyani'? Isn't that about THEIR journey? This is OUR journey... we are supposed to become Brahmgyani ourselves... we cant do that by following only what someone else says. This is our time, and our chance to meet Waheguru Ji in THIS lifetime. The tool we have is Gurbani. There are different ways to the same one truth. Maybe ours is slightly different than theirs? We can see differences between two whom we consider to be Brahmgyani now... so maybe their paths were slightly different from each other even. But that was their journey. This is ours. Why can't we instead focus on our OWN journey? And read Gurbani OURSELVES!

Can we just stop all the topics around DDT etc... We get that papimaan is pro taksali and sikh Khoi and satkiran are vehemently against the DDT etc... It's been two weeks and now it feels like we are just beating a dead horse... It's rather annoying.

In my opinion every jatha has faults but some Jathas are better then others.. For example I know that the nihangs and taksal do have some faults but in my opinion they are much closer to the Rehit prescribed in 1699...

So the reason behind this post is to just tell people just chill..

I have done/am doing the same. I love reading but have tens of books I have yet to start reading, yet I am buying more.

The 2nd point you made Neo bro, is something that crossed my mind as well. I have a book by Bawa Sumer Singh written in the 1700s "Gurbilas 10" and it is written in Brij. I would love to start working on a translation of this into English.

I'm not sure having a separate room would be gurmat, because in effect we would be creating the new 'untouchables' that were not allowed in the immediate vicinity of the core worship area.
The Gurdwara and langar area were put there to get rid of the segregation of untouchables.

I think the problem is when they have these chairs and seats set there at the back and sides.
In one gurdwara here they have the little peeriyas outside that the OAP or physical less abled can bring in or have someone bring it in and then sit on it. This way I find that only the very genuine needy persons make the effort to get the peeriyan inside and then take them back out when they leave.
Otherwise we have the chairs or seats placed in the back and some not so genuine lazy's make themselves a choice of whether to sit on floor or the chair - just because it is there and all can see it is there to be used !!

    Simran-increase dhyaan

Could we get the knowlede/wisdom of Tsingh on this one?
