Capital punishment was given, for example Jabar Khan had abducted a Brahmin girl and Guru Ji put him to death. There was enough evidence since his men put up fight and the women was rescued from his place. But I don't know how believable the Masand story is, the earliest reference I have found is panth parkash written 130 years after Guru Gobind Singh and it seems to be contrary to several other Sakhis. If Masands raped (like Mahants) it could be another story, but yes.

Everyday new videos appear of these kattar Sikhs beating nanga sadhus, pathis doing paath at jatheras, people questioning dasam granth etc, which is bad & has no precedence in Gur Ithaas. They behave just like extremist muslims do, no difference between them.

Just saw this cant believe it , and I dont think the panj piare would sanction them to be beat like this , but i think it would be more beneficial if these guys who were beaten , called to harimandir sahib ,

    1. asked them , if they thought they did anything wrong
    2. If no , then explained why it was wrong according to sikhi
    3. Get them to do local seva
    4. Get them to be educated
    5. After x amount of months called back and tested as to what they have learnt
    6. Monitor them for x amount of years

Then if they still fail , and do beadbi then take them call them back . The point is no one is perfect , and we all make mistakes , educate the people who make mistakes as lot of people dont know whats right from wrong .

That is known as landscape photography. Nature generally refers to wildlife.

You will need extra equipment for that like, tripod, external shutter release controls and filters.

    N3O you left out the part where the guys says - ਚੌਪਈ : ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਹੁਕਮ ਖਾਲਸੈ ਭਯੋ । ਮਸੰਦ ਭੇਟ ਚੰਡੀ ਕਰ ਦਯੋ । Satiguru ordered the Khalsa, to sacrifice all masands to Chandi.

Some were killed by weapons, others were bricked alive. Some were dragged by horses and killed, others were tortured in boiling oil.

What I find interesting here is that that this guy claims that Guru Gobind Singh ji used the same methods of execution that the Mughals used on Sikhs. I don't know what to make of that. I find that a bit hard to believe to be honest.

The other thing people have to face up to is the plain reality that right now, in our panth we have 'jungle rule', where the physically strong dominate over weaker sections of the community.

To me that should give Singhs even more motivation to train and try and be physically prepared mentally and psychologically. These 'panthic police' aren't going anywhere anytime soon. And this means that they will only really behave if they are on the receiving end of what they dish out. Just crying about them wont cut it.

Yes this can't be turned into a belief. That's not good enough. It has to be experienced. It has to be something you come to know.

Well that's the word that Guru Sahibs love.
Creation and creator are separate because that is how He created us.
Sanjog (merging) Vijog (separting) duay kaar chalavai (He operates them both)

It is a reality that we are separate from HIm but we can merge with him.

You are making an error in that you think Gurus are pure advaitists, they are not. They are vishisht-advaitists, thus "Merging back" is the perfect phrase.

Try and go full frame if you can. They have much better ISO capabilities. Otherwise a 7d mk2 is supposed to be quite good with fast frames per second count.

I picked up an EOS 550D/rebel t2i a few years ago but am not happy with it anymore. View finder is tiny and too much grain in the shots when i go 400 iso or above.

Key points that you need to pay attention to is the size of the view finder. Bigger the better. then its glass glass and more glass.

Checkout froknowsphoto.com for some recommendations. Think he compared the Nikon range not so long ago and selected the first camera he would buy.

Yesterday I got to go and watch Nanak Shah Fakir at one of the few cinemas still showing it. First of all I was real disappointed that there were only a few people in the theatre and came up with numerous reasons as to why this could be the case. Was it due to boycott, protests, fear of intimidation by groups/individuals or were the majority of Sikhs just against the concept of portraying Guru ji on the big screen?

Not to be disturbed by the lack of attendance I watched the movie anxiously amongst all the hype and controversy we had heard and seen. First of all I am no historian nor do I profess have great knowledge of intricate details, names of people, places with whom Guru ji came into contact with yet I do remember some of the basic Saakhis and the morals of the story to be taken away of the incidents that have been told to us from Sri Guru Nanak Dev’s Jis teachings.

Over the two hour plus duration of the film the viewer is given what I would call very short tasters of some of the sakhis from Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji’s life. Most of the incidents narrated and shown leave you feeling somewhat short changed, once they move on to the next scene, and that it was not to the depth that one might have heard in 1 – 2 hour kirtan, katha session where only a single story could take that much time to narrate. Did they try too hard to put too much in such a short space of time, cramming too many sakhis leaving out some of the spiritual gyan that should be imparted in the message. Most certainly one clearly realises that the life and teachings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji cannot be portrayed in only 2 hours and you are left wanting more and for the film to never end.

It is very easy to sit here and criticise the film saying they didn’t do this or they did that differently but I do have to commend the makers of the film for what they have made. I have to give credit and due praise for shooting of the movie because it is absolutely captured stunningly given various limitations and something you would expect from hollywood films. It certainly doesn’t come across as being low budget like some other dharmic movies I have seen. Makes you feel proud that some Sikh with the time and budget was able to put together a film like this. Some of the scenes in the movie leave you feeling so drawn in like being there with Guru ji which hits you in the depths of the chest and the love that built up for the founder of our faith over they years just hurts and wants to bust out with the longing for that magical darshan/vision and sheer presence even though it is only a movie. It is a joyous spiritual / emotional moment that one very infrequently experiences.

Making the film from the perspective of Mardana was a great idea and showing an actual body frame at times and giving Guru ji a voice gave the film some depth to Guru ji’s character and feeling which is cannot be gained with static cartoons or artwork like previous dharmic movies. Whilst I felt they tried to keep Guru ji’s dialog to a minimum where possible I would have preferred a lot more even if limited to seeing the back or other body portion.

I did however feel that the movie lacked some deep spiritual gyan in terms of bhagti or naam simran. Plenty a time I heard the mentioning of kirat karo and vand kay chakko but never once did I hear naam japo. The movie somewhat depicted an image that Guru ji’s primary teachings were only on these tenants and there was a lack of focus on the preaching on the remembrance of Waheguru somewhat. Yes sure there were mentions of remember the Upar Wala/One Above but that did not come clearly across from his vast teachings. This core teaching I would have wished more emphasis was given upon.

Without saying too much about the film and spoiling it for others I would say, not a bad effort at all and I am really pleased I got to see it even if it wasn’t perfect. Then again nothing ever will and can be produced which will come close or complete to the vast spiritual gyan and impression that Guru ji left us with.

    Dhan Guru Nanak Dev Ji!

It was a brilliant movie. Just saw it yesterday. The scenic beauty was awesome. Siddhs were shown as if they were truely real. What I liked was that the language used was good. Not the common punjabi used today. They used the pakistani punjabi/pathani/hindi ..the way it used to be.
I liked it, though a lot could be improved, but this was just beginning. More refinement needed from spirtual and factual side. Maybe in futurewe see a movie like "the message".

Sexual deviation or homosexuality shouldn't be mixed into sikhism because it is not about sikhi.
Sikhi is about following the guru and going from darkness to light. It's about taking that ascension into spirituality that makes way to the 'Transformation'.... the transforming of manmukh to gurmukh.

Black, white, brown, yellow, tall, thin fat, gay, obsessed with kaam, obsessed with lobh,..greed, sloth....whatever,..,we are all Human and we all have the One chance to Transform from manmukh to gurmukh.

What should we be more concerned about planting ?.....the seeds for procreation ?

    ਕਰਮ ਭੂਮਿ ਮਹਿ ਬੋਅਹੁ ਨਾਮੁ ॥
    Karam bẖūm mėh bo▫ahu nām.
In the field of karma, plant the seed of the Naam.

it's all a karam bhum-field of karma , because after so so many incarnations we get this one human life.
Therefore, it doesn't matter whether you were given the full deh/body to procreate or not, we all get what is destined as per our own karma, which is as per ego.
Gurbani says that after so so many incarnations we get this One chance.
The only seed to plant that really matters is the one of naam, not about procreating or not.

    ਚਿਰੰਕਾਲ ਇਹ ਦੇਹ ਸੰਜਰੀਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
    Cẖirankāl ih ḏeh sanjarī▫ā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
After so very long, this human body was fashioned for you. ||1||Pause

    ਕਈ ਜਨਮ ਸੈਲ ਗਿਰਿ ਕਰਿਆ ॥
    Ka▫ī janam sail gir kari▫ā. In so many incarnations, you were rocks and mountains;

    ਕਈ ਜਨਮ ਗਰਭ ਹਿਰਿ ਖਰਿਆ ॥
    Ka▫ī janam garabẖ hir kẖari▫ā.
    in so many incarnations, you were aborted in the womb;
Many many incarnations where we may evolve into full blown men and women (Adam and Eve) or we may not !
Just a note on the pangti above about being the aborted incarnation,... I heard someone once mention that people who self rid their bodies or commit suicide, are then born again and again aborted through the womb.....their karmic debt becomes such that their soul longs and begs for the deh/tanh/body of human life. ...but the only way to pay the debt is by facing the karmic shortcomings every time.

This is because eh janam tumare lekhe as bhagat ravidas says

Bahuṯ janam bicẖẖure the māḏẖa▫o ih janam ṯumĥāre lekẖe.
For so many incarnations, I have been separated from You, Lord; I dedicate this life to You.
....it is our accounts, our deeds or our lekhe that are the root of separation.

We are all born as manukhs with this ONE chance to find and merge with the One Truth.

    ਭਈ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਦੇਹੁਰੀਆ ॥
    Bẖa▫ī parāpaṯ mānukẖ ḏehurī▫ā.
This human body has been given to you.

    ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਮਿਲਣ ਕੀ ਇਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਰੀਆ ॥
Gobinḏ milaṇ kī ih ṯerī barī▫ā.
This is your chance to meet the Lord of the Universe.

This is the only thing that sikhi tells us to examine and look at because this(human life) is what we all have in common. The Transformation that sikhi is meant to make is for the human, doesn't matter if your a cannibal like kaudah raksh, a gay, a hetero pervert or a kuhsrah-hemaphrodite.........sill human....still have the mind...still have the chance to make the Transformation with the guidance of guru from darkness to light.

The prime minister comes and y'all just fight in front of him lol... Until our community doesn't start to be more professional we will always be the laughed at bunch...

If there is a Khalistan then then it will be ruled by somebody exactly like badal... Our community is pretty corrupt so once they get in power they will get corrupt even if they were pure.. If the aam Adaami party guy gets into power in dehli he too would get corrupt despite the good intentions he had. Power makes a person corrupt.. Politics is something that makes a person corrupt.

At every nagar kirtan when a political figure comes they always start talking about 1984 and I'm just like SHUT UP!!! I remember when Jason Kenney came to one of the nagar kirtans and then people started talking about 1984 and he just got up and left.. I was actually happy when he left... It should wake up our community to start talking about other issues that actually affect us today in canada but our dumb community just keeps talking about 1984 over and over again... I do believe that 1984 was terrible but if we always dwell in the past then we can't move forward in sikhi or life...
Hypothetically the people talking about Khalistan do get Khalistan do you think they would go back and move to Khalistan or stay in their cozy home in the west? Maybe 1 percent would go back but that I even doubt. Nobody want to leave these luxurious houses and cars and go back and live in a house where you gotta take a shit in a hole instead of a toilet lol.

Some sakhis related to this context:

    1. There was a masand, who used a gift (cloth) by a Sikh, for his own purpose. The only punishment he received, was that he was tied upside down from a tree.

    2. Another sakhi, which is mentioned by Bhai Saab Bhai Vir Singh jee, is that of a person named Dulcha. This happened when the tenth master was very young. He had stolen gold bangles, sent by a Sikh for Satguru jee. He was forgiven by the lord.

    3. Another sakhi, which is also mentioned by Bhai Saab Bhai Vir Singh jee, is that of a robber who stole Rs. 700 from a trader, at Anandpur Sahib. This thief was also forgiven by Satguru jee after he promised that he won't steal again.

    4. There is another sakhi, regarding a Singh, who hit a dog with a stick, for no reason. Satguru jee was not happy with him and asked him to do certain number of paaths to get forgiven.

Therefore, the above four sakhis clearly illustrate the vast amount of forgiveness inside Satguru jee, We should try to follow his teachings.

I don't think bro, the law in Canada is fair, when it comes to rape, aggravated assault and pedophilia. It is not that bad, in other cases. If we had Khalsa raaj, I am pretty sure these crimes would be punished by death. In my opinion, these three crimes are worse than killing a person instantly.
