    Respectfully disagree.

If you saw the sun first and declared that the sun exists (because you saw it), then I saw the sun and declared the same, does that mean i copied you? No, it doesn't. I say it because it is true.

And the same logic can be applied here. When Guru Teg Bahadur Ji Maharaj burnt all but 3 mirchaa (I'm sure you know the story) he told Aurangzeb that the Khalsa Panth would be the "Teesar Panth".

N3O can answer your questions. He is a busy man so relax, he'll get to it.

I want to shed some light on this.

Umbrella is a term which is nothing by itself. It is simply a name for various things that comes under it. So in the case of the term 'Hinduism'. There is no such thing as Hinduism, it a term used to refer to religions of Indian origin, sometimes referred to as Dharma.

Even religions that oppose each other such as Vaishnavism and Shaktyism come under this term of 'Hinduism'. Even though these are separate religions, they have principles that are opposite to each other. They still come under the umbrella term of 'Hinduism'. Why? For no reason, or you can say, for lack of understanding.

    Sanatan means puratan/ancient or original.
Even Sant Kabir ji says, "Ab man ulat sanatan hua". My mind has turned [away from the world] and has become 'sanatan' as in, it has taken the form of God.

Like Guru Nanak Dev ji says "Man tu jot saroop hain upna mool pachan". So Kabir says that "my mind has turned away from the world and has become the original mool swaroop"

So Sanatan can mean mool, the original form of something.

    Dear all,
so much we talk of impurities, but let us pause and think:

Before ponting anybody, am I myself free from impurities? Because, whatever we eat and drink, it turns out into "mal" "mootar" within us, and thus we are most the time a carrying bags of them. Then why to look and point outside when our own body is factory of waste, of impurities, on both levels, whether at the physical, or whether at the mental level.

You see, the world and creation is made in such a way, that one has to face different situations and circumstances, but the thing is, to keep in mind, I myself do not commit sins, by doing anything against Gurmat.

Someone once asked a mahapurukh, what is sin and what is virtue?

And the answer given to him in simple words was:

anything taking you away from Wahiguru is a sin, and anything taking you towards Wahiguru is virtue.

So naturally almost all of us know, it is only His Simran which takes us towards Him. And so why do we not eat and drink to the brim, His Naam Simran, which will not produce any waste of mal, mootar, or any other disease, but rather produce the pure Amrit within us, which will make us pure, paviter, and satisfy all our trishnas once and forever, which are the cause of our coming into this world, and make us fit to merge our souls in the Shabad Guru.

Brothers, let us eat His prasad of Nam Simran, then all our doubts and misconceptions shall flee away.

    Sat Sree Akal.

Interesting but I believe all religions are an umbrella of spiritual orders. Bits and pieces from here and there. Some religions like Islam try to annihilate all traces of these different spiritual orders but Hinduism honors and even encourages them.

regardless wherever india stands.. atleast from the point of view of space missions.. India needs appreciation.

CONGRAAATS to all Indians and the team which showed the hardship and dedication for this mission.

The whole mission cost was less than the cost of movie "gravity" !!!!

i did engineering and i remember when myself and my team had to spend countless nights just to program a dumb robot's movement..lol

Rather than this foki mashoori wouldn't you be more proud if India actually managed to eradicate the poverty of over half it's population rather than sending a mission to Mars?

    Sahib Jee,
meditation is the door which allows one´s soul consciousness, to trespass from the physical world into the spiritual world. There are quite a few things which are common to mankind as well as these highly spiritual beings, gurmukhs, sant janas, and as well as our very Guru Sahibans.

Meditation is one of them, it is not exclusive for any social or geographical status.

In the very begining, before Shabad manifested itself as Wahiguru or Satnam, that very Shabd was absorbed in itself in a meditative state.

The difference between us and these superior and pure spiritual beings is, that while we are full of rust of karmas and sanskaras, they are spotless and inmaculate, so naturally while we can not even think of meditating or it is as hard as like chewing iron; but for them, it just takes them to close their eyes, and wow, they are there...so quick, it is instataneous.

They are totally filled with Naam, their whole being, their rom rom, reverbeartes with Naam, nay, they are the embodiment of Naam.....

    Waaaaheguruuuuuu.

I have heard that God is always meditating upon Himself.

If you are talking about outer physical bodies of Guru Ji, they showed us the way by meditating, singing Gurbani Kirtan, singing praises of Nirankar, doing sewa, sitting on tatti tawi etcetc. They practiced what they taught us.

Forget about them being meditating, They are whom we meditate upon.

You see our consciousness is limited to our form, our body and our surroundings. It can only know that which is related to itself. It is self-centered (haumai). Try to imagine a consciousness is that is not limited to any form.

    With us it's
Calculus -> furna "I want to eat ice cream, I am so hungry. <followed by other random thoughts until we reach the fridge>" -> "ooh the box is cold... ok let me scoop it in this bowl <followed by other random thoughts>" -> proceed to eat icecream while still thinking about random stuff that we forget 2 seconds later. It's only when you pay attention will you notice all this.

Skilled meditators can minimize thought to the point where everything flows spontaneously. They'll have a craving in their belly and they'll walk over to the fridge, feel that it is cold with their hand and eat the ice cream with their mouth and taste the cold, delicious cream with their tongue (the entire thing is a savouring process). There is no intermediary dialogue or furna. Everything just happens, it just flows. (Guru Nanak Dev ji says "hukm rajai chalna" in the first pauri. This is what he is talking about.)

In the end of the day which man is infallible?

Let's just say that he did essentially 'ask for a snog' at a moment he was overcome by kaam. Yeah, this is pretty disgraceful given his position but in the context of rampant paedophilia by clergymen of other faiths, it's not as bad. That doesn't excuse this - if the allegations are true.

It will probably boil down to a case of "he said/she said" now - as the two are the sole witnesses of what happened.

Call me cynical but nothing like this surprises me anymore. And the truth is that we may NEVER know what exactly happened without doubt unless someone outright confesses - which seems unlikely (but not impossible).

Given these things people should refrain from acting like drama queens: "Ahhh, I'm so devastated!!!" Maybe a lesson to learn is NOT putting people on pedestals like that in the first place?

Just to reiterate what people already seem to know:

We have big problems with personality worship.Part of this stems of the old Panjabi problem of egotism. People want to be associated with x, y and z more to gain status from the the association than religious reasons.

Totally agree with what your saying bro. The problem is that we all want shortcuts to get the job done whilst putting in minimum effort ourselves. Gurbani places so much emphasis on Sants, Sadhus, Saadh-Sangat. We are conditioned to get close, but when you get too close you begin to see some holes or things we don't understand. Then we are told it's all about following bachan's without any question otherwise you don't get that blessing.

One who practices the Teachings of the Saints, by Guru's Grace, is carried across.

I was listening to some of the kathas at Sant Baba Isher Singh ji's (Rare Wale) Salana Barsi this weekend in West London and one of the Sants narrated a incident from Babaj ji's life. He said there was a baba ji who's name I cannot remember who used to manage the langar seva at Rara Sahib Gurdwara. One day he came to Baba ji and handed over the keys to Baba ji and said I'm leaving and going to become gristi and get married. Baba ji asked what the problem was? This mahapursh replied that many people come to the langar and my vikars/thoughts/desires are troubling me too much. Rather any kind of incident occurring and I bring this place into disrepute it is better I leave now. Baba ji called him over and placed his hand on his head for a few minutes and then asked him how he was feeling? The mahapursh replied that his mind had been totally cleaned and there were no more disturbing thoughts. Baba ji gave him back the keys and said you asked for this seva from dargah so now go back and complete the job.

Boom job done! If only it was that easy for the rest of us.

My objective in following sikhee is:

1º to become a good human being

    and

2º to work it out(sikhee), and see Him eye to eye while living along with His Grace, which is possible thankfully through Gurmat alone.

Only once one sees Him in this way, then that means, one has reached that blessed stage, that one is surley going to merge in Him.

Then the individual soul, the individual tiny drop, is ready to merge and become one with Satnam Samundar.

After eons and eons away from Him, it is a matter of just a short time.... that much short ,as one´s life left on this earth.

I have a different viewpoint. You need a reaffirmation of faith. Please make a visit to Harimandir Sahib and you will automatically get your motivation again. Now, there are people who will say " Pilgrimage is against our dharm" just ignore them and realize visiting religious places or even certain non-religious places may help you think clearer.

I was just like you myself. From dedicated Hindu to agnostic, atheist and back again.

Remember, as my signature says there is no failure or effort wasted. Even a litle bit of spirituality can help you. The method of worship or lack thereof will be decided by your own gunas. And cannot be dictated by others.

Hope that helps. Best of luck!
