    You guys are completely changing the topic.

    No one disagrees here about astral travel. I'm pretty sure gurbani supports it and many people on this site have experienced. It's not difficult at all, even myself (who has not progressed much at all - I don't even think I fit the criteria of naam being pargat yet) have had numerous experiences with it since the age of 12. You could probably pull an average joe off the street and he could be in Paris while his body's in mexico.
    This is what I have an issue with. He's not astral travelling. His body and mind are both in the UK. It's not like he's going to astral travel and send his mind to Punjab every day. So what effect will this have? I want something from gurbani.

    CuriousSeeker reacted to Lucky in What is Ojas?
    Good abundant supply of ojas can help raise the kundalini, but it's not the same thing as kundalini energy. It's a subtle energy throughout the body that is akin to path of cerebrospinal fluid.  Whereas Prana is a life force energy that sustains our jeev, Ojas affects you physically in terms of stamina, vitality and health.   If you have lack of stamina, and internal energy, then your ojas is depleted.   Lots of apnay have poor ojas, as apparent from spare tire waists, pot bellies and lack of muscle.
    Yogi bhajan lectures explained it quite well but I don't think you can access them online any longer. I may have some pdf's that I'll try and locate.  It's worth a look at this old thread to get a better idea...….

    These are good questions. I'm aware that you will have difficulty in getting the answers, but in time, they will come to you.  Things can get pretty tricky to explain unless one understands the experience.  Nevertheless, I can try answer them relative to my own journey and understanding. They are pretty long explanations to write down, so i will have to be a little blunt.  Whether i'm right, wrong, or if others experience different, is another discussion.

    This comes with practice.  You will start hearing shabad, alone, once naam is pargat.  There's quite a number of nishanees in gurbani for when this happens. We can discuss those then, but in the mean time it's just about practice.

    1) "Some say to sit and wait in sunn"  you asked  ..<--doesn't really apply to naam pargat in my opinion.  I'll explain briefly.......
    Now,.... I never understood sunn for ages. Even when i was in it,  I never realised where or what it was.  I have now awakened to the fact that there are 4 possible stages of sunn. The 1st is the basic sunn/sleep one that we all pass through at night before the mind falls in maya dreams. Think of it as a very short stage of dreamless and thoughtless sleep. You can practice elongating  this dreamless stage when doing jap, during moments of when you may be drifting to sleep. There is a very thin line between this void, dream sleep and being aware(in control).   Have you seen the movie 'Inception'?
    The 2nd stage is the longest part of journey and is the Sunn Mandal. This is the stage when naam CAN get pargat. A lot of transformations take place in this zone and some people may even break it up into more divisions of sunn.  You don't really sit and wait in this stage as you questioned. The sitting and waiting is done in Sehaj sunn(the 3rd stage), when all you hear is the anhad dunn in the centre and all around.

    My suggestion  is to do "saas saas".    Do this very quietly with focus on breath. Make the breathing long with antarghat or whisper "waaaaahhhhhheeeee" long pause, then  "guroooooooo',   long pause.  This is what helped me get to next levels.

    To sit and wait in sunn, isn't really going to get you far in my opinion with out naam kamayee.  What i mean is that it's much easier to sit and wait in sunn when one get's naam and  has gained naam kamayee.
    Do the saas saas above and rom rom jugtees.   These should automatically take you into the tips of sunn mandal to begin with.... Then naam gets flowing,... naam kamayee begins, ... naam gets pargat...and then Naam kamayee will  take you further into depths and experiences of the same sunn mandal towards sehaj sunn.   It is the  fastest manner I know in which  you can undergo major transformations.  I'm suggesting it because I know it works.
     Other methods of trying to rush into sunn are methods that i can't advise and don't understand how.   Gurmat emphasis that one does japna to get to naam. Naam is what helps you get deeper into sunn because you want to latch on to the shabad.

    You need to keep practicing more rom rom because it isn't pargat yet.   Get real deep and start using all that energy from heart area dissipating throughout the body with jap.    I keep stressing the importance of practicing rom rom technique after saas saas.   Rom rom makes so many thing easier when you get to later stages.   It will help you get to deep meditative zones within seconds with the anhad shabad and you will discover so many other things.

    Right or dominant side is usually at first. You wanna be able to hear the front, back and centre as well. Again, this is just practice, practice and practice.

    The KEY to the whole approach is to work at a pace, in sehaj with utmost prem. If you have conditions or you only have prem for some conditions, then you will not succeed. What i mean is that when i ask most people "why they want to jap" . They usually respond with "sukh ,shanti, peace, at ease, no life stresses" ..etc..  These intentions make the process somewhat conditional, and conditions with God don't really help except in infant stages. This is the secret that no one tells you and the reason why 95% of seekers remain stuck.

    CuriousSeeker got a reaction from Lucky in questions regarding Sri Guru Granth Sahib on how many worlds are there
    The English translations are very off.  Many people get confused with the worlds defined as planets.  When in reality Guru Maharaj ji is describing the spirtual planes(realms), the higher ones and lower ones, 14, .  Also all together they are sometimes mentioned as 3 lokas.  Any advanced seeker can tell you more about them. @Lucky  Has previously posted stuff about them before as well I believe.
    As for planets, in the scientific sense, Guru maharaj ji says anek, kot , or countless.

    ਚੰਦਨ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਰਵਰੁ ਬਿਗਰਿਓ ॥
    Cẖanḏan kai sang ṯarvar bigri▫o.
    Associating with the sandalwood tree, the tree nearby is changed;
    ਸੋ ਤਰਵਰੁ ਚੰਦਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਬਰਿਓ ॥੨॥
    So ṯarvar cẖanḏan ho▫e nibri▫o. ||2||
    that tree begins to smell just like the sandalwood tree. ||2||
    The Divine smell of sandalwood is so distinct and pure that any average wood or tree that comes within it's proximity, also begins to emanate the same divine smell of chandan. A transformation takes place in the otherwise average wood.
    Chandan is a blissful and heavenly aroma that can be sensed in the company of high avastha gurmukhs.  Kabirji gives the resemblance and explanation that any old wood can transform into the purer and blissful chandan by simply being in it's company.  We;like the ordinary wood, can also be transformed by being in the presence of a single GURU- the Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji.

    Please note the highlighted words "sang" / "nearby"  in this first couplet. It's quite important, because in the next couplet he speaks about another 'transformation' that involves "contact" and not being nearby.   The distinction is of significance because the above couplet is likened to being in the company of sangat and the divine Guru.  Hence, it's about the outward approach that we have to take at beginner spiritual levels. Whereas, the next couplet refers to the more advanced inner approach which occurs inside us once we progress to higher levels.
    ਪਾਰਸ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਾਂਬਾ ਬਿਗਰਿਓ ॥
    Pāras kai sang ṯāʼnbā bigri▫o.
    Coming into contact with the philosophers' stone, copper is transformed;
    ਸੋ ਤਾਂਬਾ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਬਰਿਓ ॥੩॥
    So ṯāʼnbā kancẖan ho▫e nibri▫o. ||3||
    that copper is transformed into gold. ||3||
    The "Paras" /philosophers stone, that is in many ancient myths and stories is about the Touch of Gold, when everything gets transformed into Gold after being touched. It's not just about undergoing a change in smell sensation as with the sandalwood, but also a change in it's physical appearance; that occurs inside us. The sukham sareer inside us becomes to make the jyot pargat. The further cleansing and abyass starts showing the HariMandar. The Golden Temple that was not seen previously; starts to glow and become radiant in it's brilliant honey colored gold. In abyaas levels, it's when we start going towards dasam duar to take darshan in Har'mandar.(hari's mandar)
    I find it very interesting that references from alchemy used in books like Harry Potter and many other stories show the relationship of elixir of life/divine nectar/fountain of youth to the philosophers stone. As per gurbani and abyaas, i believe that this nectar is the amrit that flows from Hari's mandar, bathing the transformed gold.

    ਸੰਤਨ ਸੰਗਿ ਕਬੀਰਾ ਬਿਗਰਿਓ ॥
    Sanṯan sang kabīrā bigri▫o.
    In the Society of the Saints, Kabeer is transformed;
    ਸੋ ਕਬੀਰੁ ਰਾਮੈ ਹੋਇ ਨਿਬਰਿਓ ॥੪॥੫॥
    So Kabīr rāmai ho▫e nibri▫o. ||4||5||
    that Kabeer is transformed into the Lord. ||4||5||
    Kabirji tells us that after his outer and inner transforming, he has become one and the same with God. Kabir has transformed into the almighty raam. He's completely transformed and reached the final stage of settling(nibrio ਨਿਬਰਿਓ ),...meaning that there is no further transforming and the end goal of Nirankar has been reached.

    CuriousSeeker reacted to Lucky in What is Naam?
    Solid question. Have a look at some posts in the previous topic below.
    If still not sure, then ask further questions here.
    A few key points are that Naam cannot be described to understand it, because it is has to be experienced to understand the connection with Waheguru.
    Naam is attained with efforts and is not automatically obtained in amrit sanchar or from a master.  Second most important question is usually "Why is it necessary to get naam? or "must I attain naam with naam kamayee?"    ................Answer to this is, - Naam is important because one will NOT and cannot be free from chaurasi lakh joons, unless you earn your Naam. The Mukhti from chaurasi lakh is the first type of mukthi and gurbani puts a lot of focus into this.
    Naam is like a primary stage, and only after Naam, can one progress to GurMukh. When one is connected to the words and sound coming from WaheGURU's MUKH, then they are on path of Gurmukh whilst also being Mukht from lakh chaurasi.

    Simple question , I have some confusion, as I always associated it with Gurmantra and gurbani. However was contemplating sukhmani sahib," Naam kay dhaaray ...." all the brahmands, planets, universere etc.  So what is the naam we are asking for from Guru Maharaj ji.  Would appreciate some meditators from the forum possibly helping me out.  Thanks ji

    CuriousSeeker reacted to Lucky in Confused about Kundalini /Rom Rom
    He doesn't say anything wrong directly in the video but the technique he mentions of excessive & forced navel breathing is NOT simran and not what I would recommend to anyone either.   He is correct that this can lead to a "Forced" kundalini awakening, ..but all Yoga's advise against this in general and warn students about not attempting forced kundalini awakenings.    However, the video can be misinterpreted, because he has used the term yojis, very loosely. It gives the impression that all yogi methods are forced and not gurmat. Whereas, this is clearly not the case.
    He says that people doing "waheguru waheguru" and no gurbani veechar or paaths is a false technique-> True to an extent, ..but you have to do simran to start going within,..and when you are more inwards, you will interpret gurbani at much deeper levels.  A true abyassee can usually tell if another Sikh has been practicing abyaas in gurmat, if the other's gurbani veechar and interpretation is deep enough and more profound. .Especially with bhagat bani like Kabeer ji and Naamdev..

    How has everyone else realized arguments/ effect them spirtually? For me, over the years I'm starting to get a better understanding of the energy drain that occurs.  Now I just avoid them as much as possible, that energy can be spent better elsewhere.  Another thing Ive noticed is, very rarely does once convince the other of their own perspective(in arguements/debates), rather often just a winner and loser, and the loser looks to come back with better ammunition for round two.  From my pov, spirtually they are never uplifting, but can draining and best to avoid all together.   What's everyone else's thoughts on this?

    Same time every day, same duration same asana, same mala, clean clothes, and ishnaan before japa sanjam in life one can do pranayama before starting japa types of japa : upanshu ( whispering), swaas swaas ( breath), mansik ( mental) for long mantra such as mool mantra, one can do 1 moolmantar with one breath in, and 1 moolmantra as the breath goes out. Can personally speak to the ups and downs bro.  Initially the peaks are and valleys are more extreme, but with time and steady effort they become smaller and smaller, and a more of a steady state is attained.  Key is self reflection/inquiry and and understanding the causes of the valleys, and not making the same mistake twice.  Also I know this said alot and people have different views, but a sincere ardaas to Guru maharaj ji goes a long way.  The mind likes to play tricks and the entices of maya are always attempting to pull, only way to rise above is with effort and his grace.
