Akaal Purkh is the one who controls everything from the good to the bad and everything in between. This world is a game for Akaal Purkh to play and we are just pawns in his game. It's a game for Akaal Purkh to cleanse itself of kaam,krodh,lobh,moh and hankaar. We are the parts of Akaal Purkh and through bhagti and following Akaal Purkh will we be cleansed and be able to join the part of Akaal Purkh that is clean and Sucha.

"Twareekh written by Bhai Chanda Singh Firozpuri, Gohaj Pothi and Das Gur Jot written by Giani Mall Singh prove that women took Amrit in 1699. Bhatt Vahis also prove that Amrit should be given to women and they must be named "Kaur". Twareekh Guru Khalsa Part 10 mentions many women who took Amrit. On page 159, there are two sakhis. On 160, there is a sakhi of Bibi Deep Kaur who was an Amritdhari. Rani Sada Kaur, mother in-law of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, was also Amritdhari. It is written in Guru Prem Padd Parkash that in 1702 Guru Sahib married Mata Sahib Devan and gave her Amrit. She became Mata Sahib Kaur. Sant Attar Singh gave Amrit to women equally. Sant Gurbachan Singh Ji gave Amrit to women and rejected giving Kirpan amrit to women. Read Gurbani Paath Darshan written by him."

In my opinion when the nihangs had to escape persecution and gave the gurdwaras to the Hindu mahants that is when the malicious things crept into the panth cause there were no real chardi kala gursikhs left to implement Sikhism to its fullest. In my opinion that is why our grandmothers where not asked to take Amrit cause the British and Hindus wanted to weaken the panth. My great grandmother had taken Amrit. This was before the Singh sabhia's I believe. Also my grandmother took khanda da Amrit at hazur sahib in 1980 not Kirpan the Amrit. My brother in law's cousin sister took khandey da Amrit from hazur sahib last year. They did not take Kirpan da Amrit.

In my opinion guru Ji 100% guarantee that he gave his wives, mothers etc Amrit. I guarantee it. If I get far sham of guru Ji I will ask him and I guarantee he would say yes. Why do I have such firm belief? Because my guru was an equal fair guru who did not discriminate.

Guru do kirpa naal I woke up today

If Sri guru gobind Singh ji did practice sarblohi bibek then I would thin all the gurus would have to. But in a sakhi of Sri guru har Rai sahib ji guru ji was on his horse and met a old bibi who made roti and guru ji ate it. There was no sarbloh or sucham at all. The singhs asked guru ji why he did that and guru ji said I saw prem and pyaar in that food. We have to have a balance and guru ji shows it again and again. Probably in one sakhi guru ji does one thing and another sakhi he does another. He does opposite things to break pakhand and hankaar.

If you can keep sarblohi bibek go for it but I am not strong enough to do it. I have all the respect for somebody who can and will never break the rehit. I have seen many people who do sarblohi bibek and a year later they eat at McDonald's etc.

I met baba ji this year at bhucho and when I went to see baba ji I was really sick. I was coughing and sneezing everywhere and my. Ise was running. I met baba ji after he did his rehras sahib in front of the Sangat in the divan hall. My masar was introducing me to him and all of a sudden baba ji grabbed my arm. I was startled and surprised why he did that. He then walked and talked with me and my masar and I started to feel different. Remember I was saying I was sick? Well I was completely not sick at all after he grabbed my arm!! I was completely blown away! I did not tell anybody till the next day. He made me not sick!!! I was blown away at the shakti he did on me!

Veer ji I do not know much. I would be blessed to be the dust of the saints feet but in my lowly opinion without the Amrit of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj first the Amrit of naam cannot come. A person has to become a sikh of the guru and the only way to become a Sikh of the guru is becoming amritdhari. I agree that to destroy your past sins and become one with Akaal purkh bhagti of the naam is a must but without becoming a sikh of the guru it does not matter.

ਮਨ ਮੇਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਿ ਆਵੈ ਤਾ ਨਿਰਮਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥O my mind, coming to the Sanctuary of the Guru, you shall become immaculate and pure.

ਮਨਿ ਮੈਲੈ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥With a polluted mind, devotional service cannot be performed, and the Naam, the Name of the Lord, cannot be obtained.
ਮਨਮੁਖ ਮੈਲੇ ਮੈਲੇ ਮੁਏ ਜਾਸਨਿ ਪਤਿ ਗਵਾਇ ॥ The filthy, self-willed manmukhs die in filth, and they depart in disgrace.

A manmukh can do as much bhagti as they want but it is pointless until they become a gurmukh. How does one become a gurmukh? The only way to become a gurmukh is to take the Amrit our father Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj has given us. What was the need of Sant Baba Nand Singh Ji Kaleran Vale to take Amrit? He is one of the few people who probably did the most bhagti in the last century. Why did he still need to take Amrit? Because that is the gurus hukam even if it might be ritualistic. 99.999999999999999% of mahapurkhs and sants were all amritdhari. I'm not counting Christian sants or Hindu or Muslim sants etc.

I live in toronto and I frequent a taksali gurduwara and I see bibis doing parshad seva to chaur sahib seva etc every single day. I also know of other taksali gurduwaras doing the same. This year the taksali gurduwara I frequent had a whole day sukhmani sahib reading smagam from Sri guru Granth sahib ji in the main hall for Mara sahib kaur birthday. My sister participated.

The Singhs from DDT are in a taksal(school) which doesn't have any women so all the singhs have to do the seva. That's could be possibly another reason why Singh is written all over the place.

English translations are crap by the way. If you want to know the meaning of gurbani to the full extent than the only way is by reading them in punjabi. One of the best steeks is the faridkot Vala teeka but the punjabi is so hard that it's even hard for me to understand!

Guru Gobind Singh Ji says to wash hands after doing number 1 or 2. Most goray don't even wash their hands! That's disgusting!

The demand to allow baptised Sikh women to perform kirtan and seva inside the sanctum sanctorum of the Golden Temple raised a controversy again at a seminar organised by the Global United Sikh Women Organisation here today.

When Dr Mohinder Kaur Gill, a Sikh scholar, wanted the inclusion of baptised women among Panj Piyare ( Five Beloved Ones), Jathedar, Akal Takht, Giani Gurbachan Singh chided her for raising such sensitive issues publicly. He, however, said such matters should have been taken up by the sub-committee of SGPC representatives, Akal Takht, Sikh intellectuals and baptised women.

Rajinder Singh Mehta, member, executive committee, SGPC, at the function said women could not be allowed to participate in Panj Piyare or perform kirtan/seva due to a variety of reasons. He said the Almighty had differentiated man from woman at the time of birth, hence nobody should raise such a demand.

Dr Mohinder Kaur, contradicting her own point, said the SGPC had given certain administrative reasons for disallowing women to clean the sanctum sanctorum or carry Guru Granth Sahib in a palanquin, but there was no valid reason to deny them a chance to perform kirtan.

Bibi Jagir Kaur, after taking over as SGPC chief in 1999, had announced to treat baptised women on a par with men for discharging religious duties in the Golden Temple. Earlier, then acting Jathedar, Akal Takht, Prof Manjit Singh had taken a jatha of baptised women to perform seva in the sanctum sanctorum, along with wife of Harbhajan Singh Yogi. Later, notwithstanding her announcement on February 3, 2003, Bibi Kiranjot Kaur, a former general secretary, SGPC, could not arrange kirtan in the sanctum sanctorum.

Gender discrimination in the Golden Temple was highlighted at the international level on February 15, 2003, when two England-based Sikh women were allegedly assaulted by SGPC sevadars during sukhasan (carrying Guru Granth Sahib in palanquin) in the Golden Temple .

Earlier, at the seminar Dr Upinderjit Kaur, education minister, said to preserve moral and ethical values in society, women should have to do introspection to awaken society ethically, morally and artistically by eradicating social evils.

Women and organisations, including GND University, Punjabi University, SGPC, Kendri Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Chandigarh, and Naad Pargaas Sri Amritsar participated in the seminar. The minister congratulated Dr Jasbir Kaur, president, and said such seminars would help form an ideal society.

If sitting crossed legs is hard try sitting bir assan for more than 7 mins without pain. The panj pyare have to sit for more than 45 mins in bir assan position.
