It is great for calming down before simran and it keeps your body at a very calm state throughout the day.

I wish, if only it was that easy. Compassion cannot be taught its a flower that blossoms within a pure heart. But yeah without compassion everything is useless.

I must have watched this video ages ago but this time the depth and knowledge in his words contained so much spiritual gyan that I didn't appreciate or recognise it before.

There is always a difference between the philosophy and what people practice. That's true of any faith.

If you are a bihangam full time with the jatha, then yes, celibacy may be ideal.
The idea to stay celibate during marriage is misunderstood. Gristi jeevan is fine. But too much bhog is bad for you spiritually, mentally, physically etc.
Sugar is sweet, but too much will give you diabetes.

Has anyone considered that if Dasam Granth Sahib Ji was "female bashing", what about Chandi Charitar and Chandi Di Vaar? Is Chandi/Durga not female?
    Pritham BHAGAUTI Simarke?
    What about Sri Bhagauti Astotar?
    Namo Sri BHAGAUTI Badheli Sarohi.
And Sri Sarbloh Granth starts with Sri Lachmi/Maha May Sahai.
All in the female context of Shakti.

Celibacy is not required to find God. But some groups may practice it because they feel like it creates less distraction so they can devote their lives to God.  Catholic priests and nuns are required to be celibate just as an example. But celibacy in the religion catholicism is not required actually quite the opposite.  Same for certain Buddhist monks etc.

I wasnt sure if the gurbani quote i put up as a guess made it to the thread but I think if a person wants salvation they need to earn it in this life and there is no 'nearly' or padvis like 'svarg' which are worth attaining as they are time a temporary room at a motel which you will end up getting kicked out of. Bhagat Bani Jis words stuck such an accord of dispassion when i first heard them and I live to that philosophy that salvation is gained in life and can not be found after.

Yea that bit about - withdrawing consciousness from the senses is easier than withdrawing consciousness from the ahankar. That's true.
However it is by no means "easy" to withdraw consciousness from the senses, it will be quite difficult to do for someone starting out.
But it is the first step in meditating.
There is a pauri by Guru Nanak Dev ji, where he describes the meditation process, the first step of which is - withdrawing your consciousness from your senses.
    First line of Pauri 38.
    ਜਤੁ ਪਾਹਾਰਾ ਧੀਰਜੁ ਸੁਨਿਆਰੁ ॥
ਜਤੁ - to withdraw consciousness from senses. This sets the the stage (workshop) in which you begin to meditate.

First and foremost, my response is NOT centered around so-called Man vs Women. Think in terms of 2 forces. I'm ***NOT*** interested in debating over who can do what, all these things are just a way of mind to divert the attention from the real task (which is to remember HIM).
Nothing is possible without the combination of Male/Female (Positive/Negative [charge]) but each has its own place and responsibility.
    e.g
    * Male is the creator/donar but that creation is nurtured only by the female.
    * If we want to fasten something, we do need both Bolt (Male) and Nut (Female).
    * All the sciences/religions are created (relative sense) by the Man but their religion's first followers was almost always Females.
    * It is only female who could sustain a culture, cultures are lost in couple of generations if women stop to follow it.
Bottom line is: Nothing is possible without the power of both forces. To indulge in useless talk about This-vs-That is nothing more than the useless/deceiving-exercise of the Mind; which is always played by the mind.
Mind always play the games.........he is Malabali but could be put down to work for much better purpose.......Man Tu Jot Sarup Haan, Apna Mool Pehchan

I think the forum should be available for everyone to read (no account or whatsoever needed). But in order to post or reply to anything, one should create an account......I don't think it's that much hard or lenghly process to create a simple account. That will save volunteer's time and will also filter the guests, I mean only serious (relative sense) guests will register.

SAadmin reacted to BhagatSingh in Discussion on Bullying, Nindya & How to handle Nindya like Bhagat Kabir Ji.
Well normally I don't give a shite about any of them. So why am I talking to her? She came to me in one thread and asked me why others are doing her nindya. So I advised her to not to do nindya herself because that's something she can control.
Had anyone else come to me, I'd advise them not to do nindya either.
A lot of people doing nindya on these forums bring nindya on themselves. They gladly partake in a nindya match with other members.
Look I also have some disagreements with Paapimaan on very fundamental things but we never get into a fight. Neither he does nindya of me, nor I do nindya of him. We disagree and we present the disagreements with whatever knowledge we have, then we are done. We move on.

so true, and the relation would change right after reading the lavan path. And you wouldnt see her face until the honeymoon or first night...all covered in ghoongat. Scary eh...
But there was no concept of divorce & so  they had to work it out. Sometimes heaven , sometimes hell. lol.

Well in old times, your parents decided your match based on several factors, which we are mostly oblivious to nowadays. But anyways, in those societies, all the women would be bhen ji or mata ji, until the wedding day. :D
In today's society, it's a bit different because we are doing it in a backwards, cave-man style, and picking up our own women by hitting on them. ;)
So now you feel kinda stuck between the two traditions.
I think you should Agree & Amplify to some degree but also tease her about it.
Agree that it's totally weird then call her bhen ji as a way to tease her. Tell her she is a bhen ji type. Flip it around.
She put you under a spell and made you call her bhenji. She has that effect on people.

I would say go further and make it into a running joke.
Make it a joke.  I can think of so many.
On your date, call her bhenji. On your wedding day, call her bhenji. On your honeymoon, call her bhenji. On raksha bandhan, call her bhenji. On your anniversay, call her bhenji.
Call her a rapper, Ben G.
Call her bungie. "I want to go Bhen ji jumping"
Although you don't want to go that route if she is not confident in herself and her attractiveness. Then you might come across as a meanie. Or if you push too far...
