    Good stuff
If we think of Nirankar as a huge sargun God figure, lets say with head, body and feet.  For us to experience God, we have to rise up to meet him and be at his upper head level in order to encounter his max grandeur entirety.  We are so distanced and lower down that the first part we can grab to take this climb is his charan. His charan are the most extreme and farthermost part of SATch that can reach us lowly earthlings! These charan are the ultimate part of Nirankaar that we may experience first. They are "Naam" and the anhad shabad itself.
We want to grab hold of this naam as if a ship, and let it carry us through maya and the turbulent bhavsagar. Hence, "Nanak naam jahaaz hai"

Gurbani tells us that we can only start getting purified once we start drinking the amrit that washes the layers off filth on our Mind. For this we need to be holding the shabad(charan)........
    ਹਰਿ ਚਰਣੀ ਤੂੰ ਲਾਗਿ ਰਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਈ ॥
Har Charanee Thoon Laag Rahu Gur Sabadh Sojhee Hoee ||
So grasp the Lord's lotus feet; through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, you shall come to understand

Panj Shabad, Anhad Bani and Sehaj Dhun

The terms used in the chapter include panj Shabad, anhad bani and
sehaj dhun. These are in the form of music tunes. Panj shabad
means the five divine sounds. They resound in the house of mind
and also with Truth. The divine speech of Truth is known as Anhad
Bani. It is the best of all the speeches. Truth Himself gives this
speech. Sehaj dhun is the divine Word of Truth. It is the divine
command for our minds and is also known as Hukam.

Truth in His grace and mercy reveals His secret Shabad – the
insignia of His existence- (Anhad Bani or Sehaj Dhun) to some
blessed souls. The Guru gives the Gurmantra and through Gurman-
tra the secret Anhad Sabad (Word of Truth) is revealed to the
    seeker.

The Sukhmana channel, located in the center of the spine travels
upward making six circles (chakras). These six chakras are called
khat chakras (six homes or six doors). These are the six places
where the channels of Ida and Pingala meet with the Sukhmana
channel. When the divine light of our soul travels through these
circles, different types of sounds are produced. Gurbani says:

kr kir qwl pKwvju nYnhu mwQY vjih rbwbw ]
krnhu mDu bwsurI bwjY ijhvw Duin Awgwjw ]
inriq kry kir mnUAw nwcY Awxy GUGr swjw ]1]
rwm ko inriqkwrI ] pyKY pyKnhwru dieAwlw jyqw swju sIgwrI ]
With the entry of divine light in the six chakras, the divine melody
of drum beat appears and eyes act as tambourines. The sound
    LONGING LOVE FOR TRUTH
    25
of the guitar is heard in the forehead area. The sweet flute music
resounds in the ears. The mind starts to dance is reflected by
presence of sound of shaking ankle bracelets. This is the rhyth-
mic dance of mind for the Truth. The Truth, sees all the make-up
and decorations of such a mind.
    (SGGS 884)

These sounds resemble the tones and tunes of a cricket, flute, gong,
conch shell, horn, tinkling bells, trumpet, rebeck, singing cicadas in
the silence of the night, and a falling bronze vessel. Other than five
sounds, many more melodies manifest. On the opening of the sixth
chakra, the Shabad enters the Gagan (the Tenth Sky). This
continuously reverberating melody at the Tenth Sky is called Sehaj
Dhun or Anhad sabad. When our mind enters the stage of
UnnMunn (inward mind), all the doors open and the tunes and all
    the shabads start to sound.

    vwjy sbd Gnyry ]
The divine melody of the Shabad vibrates.
    (SGGS 917)

The combined symphony of these sounds is called Anhad Bani.
When these melodies are very loud and fast they are called Taar
Ghor Bajaantar (The grand orchestra of divine music). All these
melodies reverberate at the Tenth Door in the Sukhmana and are
called the divine music in the house of Sukhmana “Sukhman De

The True Guru is the All-knowing Primal Being; He shows us
our true home within the home of the self. The Panch Shabad, the
Five Primal Sounds, resonate and resound within; the insignia of
the Shabad is revealed there, vibrating gloriously. Worlds and
realms, nether regions, solar systems and galaxies are
wondrously revealed. The strings and the harps vibrate and
resound; the true throne of the Truth is there. Listen to the music
at the Sukhman channel and concentrate in the sunn. Contem-
plate the Unspoken Speech, and the desires of the mind are
dissolved. The heart-lotus is turned upside-down, and is filled
with Ambrosial Nectar. This mind does not go out; it does not get
distracted. It remembers truth without chanting and the mind is
immersed in the Primal Truth of the ages. All the companions of
this path are blessed with the five shabads. The Gurmukh minds
dwell in their homes. Nanak is the slave of that one who seeks the
Shabad and finds their home within.

Well done! You've accomplished a few things here. You may noticed that your body was dong simran whilst your mind was just enjoying doses of anand. These are just the beginnings of the true anand that is yet to come. I'm still trying to swallow whatever comes along my path.
You've smashed through some barriers now and shed some layers of ego and dirt. In terms of spiritual energies. you will also have had some newer energy nadis blasting open and doing jap.
Huge amounts of energy are coming down to you and it is important that you utilise and gear these towards the right direction. Practicing brahmacharya (conserving semen), is highly recommended. I'm pretty certain that because your anand has been rising, then the kaam influences wouldn't have found any routes into your mind either, because your mind will have risen over the 5 dhoots.
Believe me, it's no lack of sleep and I know it leaves you wondering "why am I not tired?"  You may have many days and weeks when all you will have is 2-3 hours sleep a night, Yet, you will feel completely energised!  To be honest, I never understand it at first and got worried thinking It were some kind of insomnia.
You may have noticed something different when you looked in the mirror during those few days?
Indescribable....Yes. Can you really explain it?......No.  However, you may be able to confirm to yourself that in such state of mind, you are above both pain and joy.  Whilst you will also get a sense of "feeling" hukam, rather than just knowing it as a term that is used.

A few different techniques can be tried and some are extremely tough to grasp. You can pm me if you are having some difficulties, as I may be able to help on one's that I've worked on and practiced myself.  But yes,.. I think you should definitely have a crack at some deeper meditative jugtees where you can sit in absolute silence.

I hope everyone is doing well.

An experience happened a little while ago which I thought I might share.

A few days ago something happened where I was wide awake but felt some of the experiences I've only felt during deep meditation. It started around 12 am and lasted until around 6 am. For the entire night I sat there, wide awake, just taking in everything that was happening. There was no boredom, no desire to do anything. But reality felt very joyful and an extreme emotional feeling of love took over.

It felt as if extreme amounts of energy were pouring into the body (these feelings of love and energy happen regularly but that night it was at its peak). Vibrations were at full intensity all throughout the body. Ears blasting a deep tone sound.

I didn't have time to sleep the next day so I ended up being awake for a total of 41 hours. There wasn't really any tiredness but I did eventually just put myself to sleep. I'm not sure if the lack of tiredness had to do with anything. It might just have been my body being used to not sleeping because of school.

But overall, it was very indescribable. I'm curious to see if it ever happens again.

Reading week is next week so I'll have a week off of school. The plan is to experiment around. Might try using that technique by Baba Isher Singh Ji that was posted in the Anhad Naad conversation.

I guess it is possible that as your mind turns inwards some of the desires it once had are slowly let go.
I'm feeling similiar in other aspects, as if my mind is becoming numb. The mental chatter it once had seems to be drifting away and I can sit at times and just be brain dead so to speak. Even trying to force it to do mental simran feels like a strain. It's like my mind doesn't care about anything or anyone anymore.

    Lucky is 100% correct.
Its all about the huge steps one has to take to have union with Waheguru. To be honest when I read the laava now I can't even relate them to the physcial marriage ceremony. I'm like how are these relevant to us in our marriage when most of us can't even fulfill the requirements of the first laav.
I think these would be more suitable in an initiation ceremony when one becomes a Guru Wala and wants to partake on the spiritual journey of self realisation.

Yogi Amandeep Singh is a very down to earth humble guy. I had the privilege of having a short chat with him today about my simran experiences to date and he was able to confirm that the experiences were normal and encountered on the path within. He was also able to clear up some questions and doubts I was having especially with regards to anhad sounds and the views expressed by him were very encouraging indeed.

They are good for shabad or mool mantar jaap but I wouldn't use it for waheguru jaap.

I think I know what you mean.

This love is a very powerful thing. When this mindset lasts for a few days, a lot of extraordinary things begin to happen. ie even as of now, just cherishing each breath is very intoxicating. It's a feeling that cannot be described, its as if the entire body is tasting some sort of "sweetness". When just closing the eyes and sitting in silence - it feels as if energy is just radiating through every part of the body. The vibrations arise but with the breath, another type of tingling sensation arises as well. It's very hard to describe.

It's a very selfless love where there is no desire to receive. But you know this energy will continue to build the more you express this emotion of love. Experiences come and go just like thoughts (and thoughts come and go just like clouds in the sky). No desire to associate with anything. Everything just is as it is. There is a desire to express nothing but love even to the people who I've had bad experiences with.

Within the mind, everything begins to drop. Every idea of identity, religion, relationship and attachment begins to fade. The world is seen through the eyes of a witness or perceiver (if those words are appropriate). The mind literally feels like its dissolving.

    Go for it kid!!
You are experiencing some of the very many changes that occur in your normal day.  You will hopefully get to realise that "anand" has a very different meaning to what most people assume.  The only reason I can say is, Waheguru is showering you with the many blessings.
Just last night I was talking to my wife about how I want to go back and experience that avastha experience and mind-set again! It lasted for months and starts with shorter periods of few days first few times.
My advice is too stay quiet whilst watching and observing all around you.  You should begin to find many answers of truth coming your way and and also many signals and hints for any decisions you may need to make.  Before you can see the brahm jyot in everyone and everything, Gobind makes you aware that he is working in every single living thing and object around you!

We attended a wedding there on the 5th of November. The explanation of the lavaa was very deep. It was the first time I actually felt that I understood the meanings of lavaa. There was simran going on until I think about 10 or 11.
I heard one lady exclaim that she did not understand a word of it. Therefore you need to be a seeker first. Read Gurbani as much as possible to understand what we are actually required to do and practice in real life.
There was a sevadhaar who requested total silence as we need to respect the SGGS, in whose presence we were. No one talked in the hall and gave vadhaiya. We all walked our silently and talked outside. It was a magical experience. It just shows how much we have taken for granted in our Guradwaras. The moment the program is over, we forget where we are and start making all the noise without regard to the presence of our Guru Ji.
Its a must visit Guradwara I would say, in order to get that divine experience.

This experience happened again today. Except I was just sitting down focusing on my breath. It started off with this feeling of intoxication and then it started...
I went deeper this time. Up to the point where I had no sense of what was happening physically anymore. I could not hear sounds on a physical level.
But once again.. the fear kicked in and it ended. This is the farthest I've gotten. Any suggestions on how to keep going deeper without getting scared?

As described by Sant Baba Isher Singh (Rare wale) and written up in Discourses on the Beyond vol. 3 by Sant Baba Waryam Singh ji.

What has been described as the primal sound is actually the Shabad (Divine Word). This is called the Anhad Nad the unstruck melody which is produced in the body without effort of the individual self and by the spontaneous vibrance of the vital airs (life breath) with the ether.

Kingri : Single String musical instrument Singi : Yogis hollow horn, a kind of trumpet Bheri : Kettle Drum Toor: An S shaped trumpet Beena : A type of string instrument, flute or lyre. Ek Shabad : Sound of One Word (The primal sound) Nessanu Drum Garud Shabad The mantra that effaces the poisonous effects Ghanta : Bell or Gong Ghungru : small tinkling bells Tanti Shabad : Sound of vibrating strings Runjhun : Tinkling sound, jingle, chime Babiha : Music of Rain bird
    1. Kingri : Single String musical instrument

The Guru, the detached Yogi, has enticed the hearts of all; He plays His harp in each and every heart.
mohi ga-i-aa bairaagee jogee ghat ghat kinguree vaa-ee. 907

My mind and breath are the two gourds of my fiddle, and the Lord of all the ages is its frame.
man pavan du-ay toombaa karee hai jug jug saarad saajee. 334

The string has become steady, and it does not break; this guitar vibrates with the unstruck melody.
thir bha-ee tantee tootas naahee anhad kinguree baajee. 335

In each and every heart the Music of the Lord`s harp vibrates, night and day, with sublime love for the Shabad.
ghat ghat vaajai kinguree an-din sabad subhaa-ay. 62

    2. Singi : Yogis hollow horn, a kind of trumpet

The horn of consciousness vibrates the unstruck sound current; Your Light illuminates each and every heart, Lord.
sinyee surat anaahad vaajai ghat ghat jot tumaaree. 907

    3. Bheri : Kettle Drum

The sound current of the Shabad is the sounding of the temple drums. Pause
anhataa sabad vaajant bhayree. rahaa-o. 663

    4. Toor: An S shaped trumpet

    All desires have been fulfilled.
    sagal manorath pooray.
The unstruck melody of the sound current resounds.
    baajay anhad tooray. 629

Pure are the listeners, and pure are the speakers; the True Guru is all-pervading and permeating.
suntay puneet kahtay pavit satgur rahi-aa bharpooray.
Prays Nanak, touching the Guru`s Feet, the unstruck sound current of the celestial bugles vibrates and resounds.
binvant naanak gur charan laagay vaajay anhad tooray. 922

    5. Beena : A type of string instrument, flute or lyre.

The Yogi who plays on the flute of Gods Shabad gains the Blessed Vision of the Infinitely Beautiful Lord.
beenaa sabad vajaavai jogee darsan roop apaaraa. 351

My mind is absorbed in loving devotional worship of the Lord,
har kee paraym bhagat man leenaa.
Within me every plays the flute of Divine bliss . Pause||
nit baajay anhat beenaa. rahaa-o. 622

then the celestial flutes play the unstruck melody in tranquil peace and poise.
    ta-o anhad bayn sahj meh baa-ay. 344

6.Ek Shabad : Sound of One Word (The primal sound)

The One Word of the Shabad abides within my mind; I shall not come to be born again.
ayk sabad mayrai paraan basat hai baahurh janam na aavaa. 794
He cuts off the three branches of the three qualities, and embraces love for the One Word of the Shabad.
saakhaa teen nivaaree-aa ayk sabad liv laa-ay. 66

    7. Nessanu Drum

I will meet with my Lord by the beat of the drum.
    mila-o gupaal neesaan bajaa-ee. 1164

    8. Garud Shabad The mantra that effaces the poisonous effects

If he hears the Surpreme Gurus charm, believing in the Name his soul becomes contented
If one, as Gurmukh, hears and believes in the Name, the charm against poison, his mind becomes content.
gurmukh gaararh jay sunay mannay naa-o santos. 1009

    As with the magic spell of Garuda the eagle upon one`s lips, one does not fear the snake;
garurh mukh nahee sarap taraas. 987

    9. Ghanta : Bell or Gong

His bell resounds to the four corners of the world.
ghantaa jaa kaa sunee-ai chahu kunt.
His seat is forever in heaven.
aasan jaa kaa sadaa baikunth. 393

    10. Ghungru : small tinkling bells

You shall hear the vibrations of the tinkling bells, when your mind is held steady.
ghunghroo vaajai jay man laagai. 356

Making the effort, the mind becomes pure; in this dance, the self is silenced.
udam karat hovai man nirmal naachai aap nivaaray.
The five passions are kept under control, and the One Lord dwells in the mind. |
panch janaa lay vasgat raakhai man meh aykankaaray.
Your humble servant dances and sings Your Glorious Praises.
tayraa jan nirat karay gun gaavai.
He plays upon the rebeck, tambourine and cymbals, and anklet bells and the the unstruck sound resounds. Pause
rabaab pakhaavaj taal ghunghroo anhad sabad vajaavai. rahaa-o. 381

    11. Tanti Shabad : Sound of vibrating strings

Make the Fear of God, and the Love of God, the two gourds of your lute, Yogi, and make this body its neck.
bha-o bhaa-o du-ay pat laa-ay jogee ih sareer kar dandee.

Become Gurmukh, and then vibrate the strings; in this way, your desires shall depart. ||5||
gurmukh hoveh taa tantee vaajai in biDh tarisnaa khandee.

    12. Runjhun : Tinkling sound, jingle, chime

Whoever reaches the fearless Lords Home, He ever hears the sweet and melodious celestial strain.
anhad run jhunkaar sadaa Dhun nirbha-o kai ghar vaa-idaa. 1033

    13. Babiha : Music of Rain Bird

The rainbird chirps in the ambrosial hours of the morning before the dawn; its prayers are heard in the Court of the Lord.
baabeehaa amrit vaylai boli-aa taaN dar sunee pukaar.

The order is issued to the clouds, to let the rains of mercy shower down.
mayghai no furmaan ho-aa varsahu kirpaa Dhaar.

In the Hans Upanishad, where there is the mention of Anhad Shabad (unstruck melody), it is written:

[One who does japa of the Hans Mantra (Hamsa, Hansa, Sohum, So Ham, or So Hum.), millions of times, comes to the realization of Nad. It is also stated that Nad consists of ten different types of melodies, nine of which are to be passed over, and the tenth, which resembles the sound of the thunder of distant clouds, is to be meditated upon and practiced, for It takes one to Par-Brahm.] - from my own notes and not from the book.

Chatka on hearing which all hair stand on ends Punn Punn Chann Chann on hearing all the limbs of the body are in bloom Bell on hearing mind and intellect are filled with love Conch on hearing which, ones head begins to whirl like that of an intoxicated person. Sound (note) of the harp by concentrating ones consciousness on that one feels surpreme bliss and nector seems to rain from the divine hole (top of the head). Nirakarai one feels Amrit nector in ones throat. Flute sweet note which fills every fibre of ones body with sweetness, no trace of disturbance of consciousness. Begin to get spiritual powers Pakhavaj One achieves the power to feel the musical phenomenon which is operating in ones body or that which a seeker hears within himself and begins to know its meaning. Small nafiri (energy) one is saturated with energy to the full and one acquires extremely strong power. One acquires the power to reach any place one desires physcailly or mentally. Invisibility Cloud on hearing which one sees the divine face to face.
What is commonly called the Anhad Shabad (The Divine Word, unstruck music) is the sum total of the five sounds

    The five sounds are -
Tata - Sound of vibrating Strings Vitu The sound produced by percussion on a stretched lether or membrane Ghan The sound produced by striking solid broze metal Nad The sound produced by thundering clouds Shishur or Shikar - The sound produced by blowing wind (breath) through holes

These jokes were probably made up by a group of gay, sexist, men who had issues with women. They should not be put up on a forum. Sit in a secluded place and for 2.5 hours, closing eyes and keeping back straight at 90 degrees.
Keep on listening to the sound ringing in both ears and be intoxicated with it. One should hear this sound for 8-10 days.
After that one should direct one's consciousness to on the right ear. An extremely fine and sweet sound sound will begin to be heard from the right ear.
After about 10 days one should withdraw one's consciousness and cease to hear the sounds, ringing in the two ears.
After some effort one would be able to hear a sound from the Agya-chakkar (at the root of the two eyes and the nose). It is the same sound that one used to hear from the right ear.
After concentrating on the Agya chakkar, one should keep on hearing this music for 1 month or 2 and recognize it as the symbol of the Formless God.
Then one should uplift ones consciousness and listen to the music from the point where the eye-brows begin. After practicing for 2-3
months with full concentration one should raise the consciousness to up to the head, to the point where 4 parts of the oranium join which is called the palate. This point is also called the tenth gate.
After practicing this for 3 months one should hear the music from the back of the head, at the point where the backbone (spine) touches the Sukhmana Nadi. One should practice here for 5-6 months.
After this when the seeker becomes full adept, he should concentrate his consciousness on the tip of the nose. At his point he would see strange supra-worldy sights and one acquires carious kinds of power. This practice will take some two years. But there is a supreme need to keep watch on the instructions ordained here. Eager enthusiasm is required beyond limit. Under these activities, one would see different kinds of lights, strange sights of secret worlds and hear strange musical strains.

Here is some more from the book:

In addition to auditory perceptions, there are several related physical sensations that can accompany the sound current. These would include:

Fizzing – This is similar to static electricity on your skin, like the kind caused by a wool sweater when the humidity is low or by clothes just out of the dryer.

Vibrating – This is energy running in the body. It feels like mild electric current.

Tetany – This is an exaggerated version of the fixing and vibrating. Numbness, cramping and pain may accompany it.

Pressure Over the Ears – This feels like the sensation of taking off in a airplane or as if some has cupped her hands over your ears, but there is usually no sensation of actually being touched. Outer sounds may be muffed along with the sense of pressure.

Tunnel Vision – Peripheral vision may disappear. The sensation is that of looking through a tunnel. There may be an accompanying felling of movement through the tunnel. The walls of the tunnel may appear dark or seem to be made of light or branded light that can streak by with apparent motion.

Visual Hallucinations – Close contact with the sound current can completely alter one’s state of awareness. You may see sounds as light or enter into a visionary state. Experienced guidance is advisable in the “mystical” encounters, but be aware that you possess you own inner guide.

The Extraordinary – Because the perception of the sound current feeds the mechanism of perception itself, extraordinary experiences may occur. It is for this reason that techniques for perceiving the sound current have, in the past, been guarded by mystery schools. These secret practices were shown only to specially prepared “initiates” or devotional students.

Everyone has access to the sound current. I feel that everyone instinctively understands the sound current, but will allow our fears and desire for control to overwhelm our natural growth.

A flower blooms in its time. Spiritual growth should not be dictated. Each of us needs to discover his or her inner truth and spiritual powers. In spiritual matters, we need to learn to relax and listen to our innermost feelings.

This is especially true in the case of fear. Though fear is a natural response to the unknown, it can prevent us from passing through gateways to our evolution. This is often the situation people find themselves stuck in when it comes to the extraordinary sensations accompanying the sound current.

Do not be afraid of the sound. Be prepared to step into the extraordinary. If you need help, ask for it. If you ask, it will manifest.

The sound current is a gateway to enlightenment. It is also the foundation of reality, the primal tone of creation. It holds limitless power.

When is a person wise enough to bathe in such power? Maybe never. Sometimes you must begin on faith and proceed to wisdom. Wisdom comes through experience. You must allow yourself to wade into water before you can learn to swim.
