    Good question.
The answer  or the answers are all in Gurbani.  Bani is the Guru, and the guru shows the sevak/student if they are following and treading the path to light correctly or not.  What you will find in Gurbani is "NISHANEES"...("Insignia") There are so many of them and a  lot of them are written esoterically in multilevel mystical shabads. This is because everybody's experiences will be unique and different to the student next to them.  A certain student may get an asserting confirmation as they may be able to relate to it in one way or the other.   This is why it is important to read gurbani, sing gurbani, listen to kirtan whilst doing your own inner recitations of bani as much as possible.  Bani says....Nit uth gavoh prabh ki bani, aath pahar har simrahau parani.
Many early nishanees can seem quite physical like tasting Amrit rass.
Sweet nectar of amrit before naam is usually a nishanee for a taste of whats to come and to confirm that Waheguru is listening and acknowledging. This is often mistaken with amrit that comes later (naam amrit) , which is a whole different ball game that impels many different changes.  The cycles of sounds(pavan shabads NOT anahad shabads) are also nishanees of channels/naadis opening up inside in order to activate the central sukhmana channel upwards.

Kaur Inder got a reaction from jaikaara in Simran
I just wanted to ask everyone who does naam simran. When someone do simran on a regular basis and if done properly they do get its outcome or result that we call spiritual experiences it could be anything as hearing sounds or seeing visions. I just want to ask how do they know that whatever they are experiencing is leading them to the right track. Like are there any experiences that’s the result of Kaal I know everything we experience is still a part of Maya but how would one know that they are on the right path and not getting trapped in kaal’s net. Or every experience that comes no matter what kind of is a part of our simran and is right/true..  and yes we shouldn’t be focusing too much on these experiences but I just want to make sure that whatever happens is okay and will take us to our father one day maybe in xxxx janams. And I don’t know why people don’t want to share about their experiences.. sharing can help others who are genuinely looking for help coz nowadays there’s hardly anyone who help people in true manner.

A video by SikhNet on difficult thoughts

    HOW TO
    1) Lower the eyelids until the eyes are only open 1/10th. Concentrate on the tip of the nose. Silently say, "Wahe Guru" in the following manner: "Wah" -- mentally focus on the right eye. "Hey" -- mentally focus on the left eye. "Guru" -- mentally focus on the tip of the nose.
    2) Remember the encounter or incident which happened to you.
    3) Mentally say "Wahe Guru" as in number 1.
    4) Visualize and personify the actual feeling of the encounter.
    5) Again repeat "Wahe Guru" as in number 1.
    6) Reverse the roles in the encounter you are remembering. Become the other person and experience that perspective.
    7) Again repeat "Wahe Guru" as in number 1.
    8) Forgive the other person and forgive yourself.
    9) Repeat "Wahe Guru" as in number 1.
    10) Let go of the incident and release it into the Universe.

I think, we are wrongly mixing 2 things, and we sholud separate them: one is the hygiene and the other is karmas.

Regarding hygiene, whether amritdharis or not amritdharis, all should be well conscious of its importance in heath issuses and try to act accordingly, whether in the langar, home, or anywhere else....

Secondly the karmas point, karmas do not get transferred from one to others, just like transferring or downloading an attachment file on internet, neither by shaking hands, or being in other´s company.

Karmas are created alone by one´s own actions, thoughts and behaviour.

Hygiene is on a physical level, while karmas are on a mental level.

I think, it was in Kabir Sahib´s time, that when he observed that people were going to the so called sacred rivers to bathe and think that by doing so, it will wash one´s karmas or sins...

So he said to them, take a "mirch" and dip it into that sacred waters belived by you people, and then cut it and taste it. You will see that the taste has not changed at all. So if these waters, can not even change, a physical attribute of something, how can you even think, that bathing in it, or drinking it, can wash your sins or karmas which are not material?

In the same way, our Guru Sahibans, have only stressed on His Naam, as the only washer or eraser of all our subtle filth of karmas and sins.

Once having tasted that Naam within, then one can see the changes, that one from a devil (sinner) or a manmukh, one is changed into a Gurmukh or a Saint.

After that stage, one´s speech, one´s thoughts, one´s actions, are changed drastically. We can say, one is converted from a crow which subsists on vishtaa or filth, to a swan which drinks the nectar of Naam only.

Such is the wadeeayee of Gurmat and Naam.

    Hello Sukrit Kaur,
    Please read the following example.

[ A king wanted to choose best responsible person for his thrown, so he held a meeting with his 3 sons. He ordered his sons to undergo the journey of all religious places within one year and he also gave them 3 horses (one to each) which they had to use for travelling. First son did not start his journey and just fed his horse extremely well and converted his horse into very fat. Second son started his journey and he tried to complete the journey as soon as possible and therefore ignored the health of his horse. He over-use the capacity of his horse and eventually his horse died before completing his journey. Third son was very wise, he calculated that if he travel this much distance each day he would be able to complete his journey on time. This way he travelled pre-planned distance each day and also took care of his horse by giving him proper food and rest. Eventually he completed his journey within the provided time.

The third son who completed his journey on time by visting all religious places was chosen as next King. The one who did not start his journey was given punishment by the king. Same way, God has given us this body (as horse) so that we can complete our spiritual journey to God within this human birth time. If we did not remember God during our time on earth then we are like the first son and therefore we will be given punishment by Lord of Justice by either throwing us in Hells or giving us birth in lower species. If we act like second son and due to Virag we did hard penance of God without taking care of our body, then we might get another chance (another human birth) by God so that we can continue our journey. We are supposed to act like third son by remembering God and taking care of our body by fulfilling his needs. i.e When we were in mother's womb, everyone (regardless of caste, creed, and religion) promised God that we will do God's worship for at-least 2.5 hours out of 24 hours. This is our main duty that we have to do along with our wordly duties. ]

So, bottom line is to take care of your body so that it can help you to achieve your Spiritual goal. Believe me, it is not fun to do bhagati in illness. So, enjoy your bhagati while taking care of your body.

Kaur Inder reacted to harsharan000 in Shabad Guru Surat Dhun Chela
On the majesty and inmensity of Shabad as Guru, and the relation of the soul with it, as a disciple or chela, Dhan Dhan Satguru Amar Das Maharaj, sheds some more light for us moorakhs manmukhs in His Bani in Raag Sarang :

    ਜੀਆ ਅੰਦਰਿ ਜੀਉ ਸਬਦੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਹ ਮੇਲਾਵਾ ਹੋਇ
Jeeaa Andhar Jeeo Sabadh Hai Jith Seh Maelaavaa Hoe
In all the living beings, the soul is a particle of Shabad. And through it we meet Him.

Here He cleary tells us, that all living forms, irrespective of, their sizes, colors or shapes..... as long they are alive, or their is life in them, it is because the soul as a particle of that primal energy named Shabad, is present in them for that time being.

It is not alive because it breathes, but because the soul is present there, Breathting is just a function of the body, and the breathing goes on, as long as the soul stays/remains there.

Bin Sabadhai Jag Aanhaer Hai Sabadhae Paragatt Hoe
Without the Shabad, the world is in darkness. Through the Shabad, it is enlightened.

Then He says, without this Shabad Guru, there is utter darkness in the creation. Only when this Shabad manifests itself as Shabad Guru, we get enlightment of the one Truth, Wahiguru Akal Purukh.

And when we say we get enlightment, then who are we? Are we those of a particular community, caste, color or creed?
    No.
Because as Guru Jee made clear in His first line, The enlightment is for the mind, which is an obstacle in our way towards Wahiguru. Just as in darkness, the theives steal, or the evil doers commit sins, so in agyanta, we moorakhs are entangled in manmukhta, and in name of dharam, mazab, a lot of atrocities are commited, a lot of nonsense is said and followed blindly.
Mind works in full force, while the poor soul is asleep, but once one´s soul is under the sunlight(gyan of Gurmat), the thieves run away, as now the owner of the house is awake. So it is essential for us, to take shelter of the Bani by practicing what it says, and workout our salvation in time before the yam doots come and snatch us from our hair, by not taking refuge in Naam Simran.

Panddith Monee Parr Parr Thhakae Bhaekh Thhakae Than Dhhoe
The Pandits, the religious scholars, and the silent sages read and write until they are weary. The religious fanatics are tired of washing their bodies.

In the line above, He clears our doubts even more. He says, all that is done as devotion or bhakti by means of the body such as rituals and ceremonies, or outer venerations, that is darkness which runs away, but lighting on, Gurmat in our lives.

Bin Sabadhai Kinai N Paaeiou Dhukheeeae Chalae Roe
Without the Shabad, no one attains the Lord; the miserable depart weeping and wailing.

Then in the next line as seen above, He goes one step further, and tells us, if one does not hold on to the Shabad Guru, one can never ever merge in the Lord. Then it will be too late, with no time left to rectify our foolishness. Then even if one weeps and wails, the yam doots will not stop even for a moment. These messengers of death will say stop protesting you foolish man, Wahiguru gave you a whole life, and you just waisted it after peanuts and stones.... And so what is that true wealth, to be gathered before one dies?
Or what is that holding and giving oneself to the Sahabd Guru?
Well, it is placing one´s hope only on Him, through His Shabad, and thus through His Naam Simran. As simple as that.

Naanak Nadharee Paaeeai Karam Paraapath Hoe
O Nanak, by His Glance of Grace, the Merciful Lord is attained.

And so in this His last line above, Guru Jee is saying, that soul is a wadbhagee soul, who recieves His Daya Meher, does that devotion which pleases Him the most, which is as seen, Naam Simran, thus that soul frees it chains with the wheel of the eighty four, and merges in the Lord for once and forever.

    Waheguru bless all.

Beautiful is the title of this thread by brother Truthseeker.

I was just listening a beautiful shabad kirtan, from the Bani of Fifth Patshahee in Raag Sree Raag, and though the whole shabd is beautiful and blissful, but there comes a line, in which Guru Jee reveals us our true essence as souls, as sikhs, and His true nature as True Guru.

    Here it goes:
    baah pakarh gur kaadhi-aa so-ee utri-aa paar.
Grasping him by the arm, the Guru lifts them up and out, and carries them across to the other side.

Now let us just pay attention and see the beauty and depth in it.

He is telling us, that, we by ourselves can do nothing, however much jap, tap, poojas, paaths we may do, even any outer rituals, but even then, we by ourselves can never ever get out from this mayavee creation. Because , all these types of devotion we do as manmukhs, we think we are doing it.

The thing is, in real devotion we have to dissolve our ego, our ahankaar, our sudh, our budh, only He has to exist, we simply are not.

That is why, our Guru Sahibans have stressed so much on Naam Simran. It is the only method or jugtee, by which we break the barriers of our minds and place ourselves at His Lotus Feet.

As long as we think I do this or that, He does not come into the scene. But when we take refuge at His Lotus Feet, through the devotion of Naam, then He sees our humility and likes us, He says, now you have become light by removing the weight of the haume of me, mine, mind ....

Then in the next moment, as Guru Jee tells us in the above line, the consequence of giving ourselves totally to Him, is that, He extends His powerful arm and pulls us out from this mayavee bhavsagar.

That is when Guru Jee says:Baah pakarh Gur kaadeeya

The thing and beauty of sikhee is, it makes us consciouss by realizing in a most simple way, our true spiritual nature as souls, as disciples, as sikhs, as chelas, as dhun, and the also the True status of Shabad Guru.

So, as long as we think we are so and so, from here or there, and have to do so and so.... we are bound to remain in this creation, with hardly any spiritual progress.

But the moment we realize we are the soul, trapped by the mind and maya, we shall do the bhakti as per Gurmat, then we shall shed all our outer coverings on our souls, and go in the search of the Shabad Guru who is within us, and waiting eagerly for us, so that we may reach Him there within, and thus He pulls us out from the realms of karma, of pain and misery, from the realms of maya and Dharam Rai, to the realm of Dayal Purukh.

We are not the body, as we shall have to leave it here, it is nothing but a handful of dust ....our real self is the soul, the sikh, the chela, which is in nature a drop of Satnam, and in that Satnam Samundar it has to merge and become the Ocean itself, through bhakti, not otherwise.

So if we never do Naam Simran, how will our soul reach at His Lotus Feet?

How will our surtee, be pulled out by Guru Jee within?

Some may think, I am crazy, I do stress a lot on Naam Simran, and not on other things.

But that is, because we have a very short time, and as per Gurmat, if we do not do the real thing as seen in the Bani of Fifth Patshahee, how will we save our souls?

The path of Gurmat or sikhee, is for the freedom of our souls and defeating our minds, and not for our bodies which are insentient and perishable, however we may decorate and make up them, but in the end it is nothing but clay, while our souls are His essence.

It is our souls which shall merge in Him, and become Nirankar as He is.

And when this is achieved, who is there a sikh, a khalsa, a muslim, a christian or a hindu?

Or who is an american, indian, british or chinese over there?

All these outer aspects simply do not exist there, for which we so foolishly fight and kill, and burn with the fire of haume....

He is not realized by us, by belonging to any culture, class, caste, creed or country, but by putting into action a particular discipline : Gurmat, the bhakti of Naam Simran, taught by our Guru Sahibans and all True Gurmukhs, or Sant Janas.

The relation as per the topic of this beautiful thread: Shabad Guru, surat dhun chela... is described in a very clearly and simple langauge, by Dhan Dhan Guru Arjun Dev Maharaj in His lines above.

    Waheguru.

Sri Guru Nanak dev ji said...if you want to play this game of love with me.....
so many sights and sounds to entice us in this world...yet the soul thirsts for waheguru...like a husband missing his wife...like a wife missing her husband...a mother missing her child..

this to me is the true driving force...

all methods, techniques are still in the realm of maya...love goes beyond...my love will be heard by waheguru, my thirst will be felt by waheguru, the rest is in His hands...and so comes the surrendering to his Will..surrender everything..and with it Ego will start to lose its power on you...

You/we are very lucky to be ones who are provided with a chance to read Nirankaars words/Gurbani/SGGSJ..
And now you've decided to take Amrit.I can't congratulate you in appropriate words for this.In the way you are exploring the things clearly shows your affection /love/curiosty towards Guru Maharaj.
Bhenji, Let your doubts be cleared before you do your ceremony. But Dont allow yourself to indulge in an illusion.Just think what is waiting for you..Your one step gonna remove distance of miles b/ you and your Guru. These are just opposing forces which are trying to restrict your progress.
    Okay!!
    About Amrit:
I think 5 panj pyaarey are physical representation of Guru Maharaj himself at the time. It's not like It's done after taking amrit. All depends upon spiritual awastha of panj pyaareys.Like in above saakhi light entered.I think the light entered because these males were spiritually enlightened ones. How can That divine jyot enters in a person with no spiritual qualities.
All I want to say is that dont focus on gender of panj pyaareys like they must be men or women.Just pray these 5 souls must be True Gurmukhs who have done enough kamai in their lives.I read somewhere if One of panj pyaareys is a Brahmgyani, then you wilk have a very great spiritual journey.Just do ardaas again and again "Maharaj I want to be yours.I want to achieve what I couldnt achieve in previous lives.I'm not here to differentiate between men or women.I'm here to merge in nirankaar jyot. Please send me to these Great 5 singhs who can give me what I really need.I dont want to loose this chance. This seems to be my final chance.I'm moorkh/foolish one.I've no wisdom. How can I find true gurmukhs? It's you who will send them for me.O sachepatsh!! Dasam Patsah !! All is in your hands.please show mercy upon me and send these great 5 souls for me so that I enters in your home/my true home.please!! Do an arrangement for me..Kaal is running after me.I dun want to be eaten at his hands.Give me the true Naam and then give me courage to do kamai of that Naam.I want to enjoy sehaj anand as per your words:
Anhad Shabad Dasam Dwaar Vajeyo ,teh Amrit Naam ChUaYa thaa

A thought keeps coming back that makes (my) mind restless - Just when will that auspicious moment come when these breaths will finally depart this Panch Bhootak Sareer (body made of five elements - earth, fire, water, wind and sky) and achieve bodiless form. (I) have no knowledge when or how that time will eventually arrive, but (My) mind longs for that moment with intense desperation; a desperation that surpasses manifold the impatient wait and excitment of worldly people that are about to get married. Such is the intensity with which this mind yearns for its death. But:

    ''ਲੇਕਿਨ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਕੀ ਬਾਤੇਂ ਖ਼ੁਦਾ ਹੀ ਜਾਨੇ'
    "Waheguru's Ways Waheguru only knows."

    Water merges with Water

After a Brahmgyani's body has experienced his Prarbadha Karma (set of past karams that are allocated to be reaped in this lifetime), his consciousness merges with its complete and Absolute form. A pitcher of water floating in the Ocean remains a part of the Ocean. When the pitcher breakes, the apparent difference between the ocean and water stored in the pitcher ceases to exist; this is how a Brahmgyani exists in the Ocean. That Ocean is the Absolute totality, a non-dual entity that is formless, supreme bliss, thought-free. That is the only Saroop of Brahmgyani, nothing else.

Bheekan, concept of the Beyond cannot be told or heard.
Those who experience it cannot explain, and those who explain have not experienced it.

The entity called Atma is inaccessible; Neither bani nor the mind can reach that place. It is silent and thoughtfree.

    This is Imperishable, Absolute Truth.

How then is it possible to describe in words that Atma when one is established in such avastha? It is like offering sweetmeats to a dumb person and asking about the taste.

The Glorious Praises of the Lord cannot be spoken by speaking.
They are like the sweet candies given to a mute. ||1||Pause||

    42. Lack of Knowledge

Lack of knowledge, duality, ignorance, maya, kudrat, godly miracles and mind, they are all different names of the same thing. Avidya (lack of knowledge) is when things appear totally different from actual reality. For instance, seeing snake instead of rope, or water instead of desert; snake or water do not really exist but appear real because of ignorance. Similarly, the whole world appears real because of this force of Maya.

Except 'ਓਅੰ', Oang, nothing was, is, or ever will be, but the force of ignorance shows us this world instead of the Brahm that actually exists instead. The instant this deceitful ignorance is destroyed with the power of Brahm Gyan or Knowledge of the Brahm, reality appears and only the formless, thoughtless, supreme bliss, unbound intelligence, non-dual entity that complete in itself remains.

The droplet is water, pitcher is water, well is water, baoli is water, river is water, and ocean is also water. Similarly, everything, from the mind to the limitless sky, there is only the Atma, nothing else. Atma exists along with the five characteristics - Sky represents Atma's totality, wind represents conciousness, fire represents light, water represents universality and earth represents the absolute truth. The only thing that exists in this world is the Atma along with five elements, i.e., AtmaDev becomes world-roop with its traits. Therefore, everything around us is the formless, thoughtfree and absolute bliss Atma.

    43. Universe is ignorance-roop and Atma is beyond conflicts

This world and everything in it - the pains and the pleasures - are the products of ignorance, and are like Indra-Jaal (deadly trap). Why feel happy if wealth, fame, wife, sons, etc. increase with the power of illusion, and why feel sad when they are gone? It is only because of the illusionary force of ignorance that these objects appear to increase or decrease in capacity. Ignorance makes things appear totally different from the actual reality. Thus, the universe and millions of galaxies are nothing but a play of Waheguru's Maya that appears real because of the mind. On the contrary, Atma always resides in a state of thoughtlessness, in which there is absolutely no trace of desires. It is formless, inaccessible, it is the Absolute Truth that is always Smaadh-Roop.

Nothing is born, and nothing dies.
He Himself stages His own drama.

(Ang 281, Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj)

The One has created the drama of coming and going.

    44. The power of Ek Rass

A person who is free from Heyopadh Budhi obtains powers that reside with him like queens reside with the king in his palace. These powers are:

    1. To be indifferent to worldly pleasures.

    2. To be free from pride of the body; to be fearless.

    3. To be consistent.

    4. To have control over the mind.

    5. To see Atma in everything.

    6. To have complete faith in the Knowledge.

    7. To be completely desire-free.

    8. To be completely ego-free.

    9. To forever consider one's self as the non-doer.

    10. To keep one's emotional state unaffected by external influences.

    11. To exist completely thoughtfree.

    12. To always exist as Anand Saroop.

    13. To remain in Ek Rass.

    14. To have no other thought of anything else except Self Saroop.

    15. To have compassion for all lifeforms.

    16. To remain honest.

    17. To be content with awareness of the Self.

    18. To remain in a pleasent state.

    19. To speak kind words.

A person free from Heyopadh Budhi, and those whose conciousness is established in the Atma, are also blessed with above-mentioned abilities.

    45. Thoughtfree, Non-Duality

Brahm Atma is non-dualistic, with no traces of duality,
No scene, no seer, no form, no name exists there.

That non-dual, motionless entity, which is your own Saroop, is established in itself and is beyond the the concept of 'you' and 'me'.

Why are you afraid of the mind? bring forth your ear and listen, O brave One!
This mind is only your wave, and you are the deepest Ocean.

You are the deepest Ocean, this illusionary wave is in you.
What damage can something that doesn't exist bring to you?

The Sight and the Seer are one and the same. If the Seer is formless, so is the Sight. If Seer is thoughtfree, then so is the Sight. If Seer is Supreme Bliss by its very nature, then so is the Sight. Therefore, that Supreme entity is established in itself, the entity that is formless, thoughtfree and state of Supreme Bliss. Without it, nothing ever was, is or ever will be.

Sriman Sant Isher Singh Ji Maharaj Rara Sahib Wale

    1. 6-8-65

It was 6-8-65 yesterday, this destructible, changeable, misery-roop body finished its 58th year and entered 59th year, but I (which is Soul) have no birth or death nor any age. So long as I was ignorant and kept believing myself to be body instead of Soul, my mind remained extremely sad and agitated. But with Guru's mehar, the moment I realised my true self, I have existed beyond this destructible body, in supreme bliss and free from the cycle of birth and death.

That's why age is that of the body and not of the Soul.

Thus, peace and commotion are innate dispositions of the mind and Soul is their witness. If we have two drawings on a piece of paper, one is of a still horse while other that of running horse, paper is the witness to both. Similarly, Soul is forever stationary. Concentration and negativity are both mind's states. Soul is self-existent, is absolute and Samadhi-roop. It is unique and aloof from the body.

    2. Supreme Effort

The Soul (jeev atma) has taken on this human form, which is a golden chance for it to realise Self and achieve supreme bliss; that can only happen by doing sewa, bhagti and knowledge. The supreme effort is to be able to taste the pleasure of freedom from cycle of rebirths while still being in the body, to guide others about Self, and to get a permanent formless avastha after this body withers away.

The body remains in mother's womb before blood and semen meet, then birth, childhood, youth, and old age etc. and finally it dies. But Soul, being formless, is witness to all these stages of life. It watches this play and leaves the body on death like a snake that sheds its old skin and never looks back.

The relation between body and soul is like that of house and householder or that of horse and horse rider. The horse is given to the rider to go complete a specific task and is taken back after a fixed time. Similarly, the Soul rider-roop has got possession of this body horse-roop for a short time only. Waheguru Ji, the owner, will take it back at a predetermined time. One should try to complete the task of realising God before that time is up. With GuruKirpa and blessings of Sangat, the Soul is going to make this body perform the task in the form of sewa, bhagti and knowledge. In ancient times, this task was done through intense penance and Yoga Abhiyaas but since the bodies do not have that kind of strength or the age any more, it has been substituted with Bhagti and Pranayam. Purification and concentration of mind results in BrahmGyan, and finally God is realised.

    3. Realisation of God

One does not have to go to mountains, woods, or solitary places to find God; this search is done within ourselves. Waheguru Ji is established inside every body but the journey to find Him cannot continue if there is no purity and concentration of the mind, which is something that is obtained by Guru Sewa and undying devotion to Waheguru Ji. And the blessings of sewa are gained by coming in the sanctuary of Guru Mahapurashs. And that sanctuary and Sadh Sangat is obtained with great fortunes only.

(Sorath Mahalla 5, Ang 617 SGGS Ji)

(Maajh Mahalla 4, Ang 96 SGGS Ji)

That is why this human form is considered rarest of all 84 Lakh life forms. The path becomes easy to travel when Satsang is obtained and God is easily realised through Sangat of holy men. The worldly affairs are easily handled if one knows the right way (jugat) of dealing with them. Similarly, correct jugat is needed to realise Waheguru Ji instead of force and highhandedness. Jugats like sewa and worship as told by Maharapurshs who have achieved this goal with ease are greatly helpful for the seekers.

(Raag Goojri Vaar Mahalla 5, Ang 522 SGGS Ji)

    4. Name Theory

The following four things are crux of all major spiritual Granths:

    1. Actions (ਕਰਮ),
    2. Worship (ਉਪਾਸ਼ਨਾ),
    3. Knowledge (ਰਿਆਨ); and
    4. Science, Knowledge (ਵਰਿਆਨ).

Our soul is the son of Waheguru Ji because it is a part of Him. He is a prince that has lost his identity due to ignorance. By coming in this human form, and with blessings of the Guru and Sadh Sangat, he has to realise his true self and the real and unbreakable relation between him and the Lord, so that he can finally obtain supreme bliss and peace by merging into Him. There are three faults in man that are separating him from his Waheguru otherwise He is closer than even our hand and feet. These are:

    1. Filth (ਮਲ),
    2. Posion (ਵਿਖਸ਼ੇਪ); and
    3. Achromatism (ਅਵਰਨ).

By discarding filthy actions, the poisonous fruits of which are blinding the mind, one can transform them into positive actions.

    5. Purity of Mind

Stay away from filthy deeds like Alcohol, meat, someone else's woman or man, gambling, stealing, lying, betraying, bribery, etc. and invest in good, honest actions. Be charitable, do ishnaan at Amrit Vela, keep body clean and pure, do sewa, practice restraint in kaam (ਬ੍ਰਹਮਚਰਜ). These actions clean and purify the mind. And only clean mind can become calm and enjoy the joys of absolute concentration.

(Ang 1368, SGGS Ji)

When the search of Self is done with purity and concentration of mind, one realises that the same Waheguru that once appeared as separate is one's own; in fact the entire universe appears to be one. The scene and the witness both appear to be one. Duality completely disappears and only One prevails.

    Singh Jee,
We are all sinners, and imperfect beings, He alone is Perfect.

    You mention Santpad?

Do we know what is Santpad?

    Santpad, is sikhee.

And what does sikhee say in essence? It says: Awar kaaj tere kitte na kaam, mil Sadh Sangat, bhaj, kewal Naam.

And this means that, the easiest way to swim and come out of the Mahabhavsagar, is to take refuge at His Holy Lotus Feet.

And taking refuge at His Charan Kamal, is to get imbued with the Simran of His Naam, that also, as the Bani says: aath paher = 24 hours.

At other place it also says: mein andhule kee tek, Tera Naam adhaar.

This means, it is with the power and Jot of the Simran of His name, that we can walk, and as said above swim across, otherwise, the wrappings of maya and kaal are "apaar" for any jeeva, without the support of His name, there is utter darkness.

It is only by His Name, that Light, wisdom, love, mercy, equanimity, balance, forgiveness become parghat within us.

There is no fixed time to start doing His Bhakti, as you say, everbody has an indivdual approach/relation towards Him.

So any time to start with bhakti, is good, auspicious time.

It is good that you may want to hear from others about His mahima and bhakti or prem....

But, Veer jee, all of us are "kachaas".

I would advise you not to depend on others sayings, or, do not give much importance....

Better go to the Bani of our Guru Sahibans, Bhagats, Sadh Janas, who are the masters themselves in ruhaniyat, and you will find unvaluable gems of spirituality. They are the Supreme authority.

What else can anyone say? We can not inspire each other with our "imperfect experiments".

You see, we are all more or less blind. And as we know, 1 blind + 1 blind = more darkness/agyantaa.

Better we get hold of someone with eyes/sight, and slowly and slowly we shall get pulled out.

And as said above, our only adhaar, is His Naam. Prabh ka simran, sabh teh oochaa. Jin Har japeeya, se Har hoeeya

Brother, do His Bhakti without any expectations, leave yourself completely at His will, and pray to Him earnestly, that, He may lead you to Him.

Once you do this type of bhakti, the Bani says: not only the panj doots will not come near you, even the yam doots do not come who take refuge in His Naam.

Apart from this, as per what I understand from Gurmat, there is no other way.....

    Sat Sree Akal.

Grand Conversation between twins inside the womb: Baby 1: And you, you believe in life after birth? Baby 2: Absolutely. It’s obvious that life after birth exist. We are here to become stronger and to get ready for Whatever awaits us next. Baby 1: This is absurd. There is nothing after birth! What would life look like outside the womb? Baby 2: Well, there are many stories about the other side. I’ve heard there is a blaze of light there, an intense and profound feeling of joy with deep emotions, thousands of things to live for… For example, I’ve heard that we’ll eat with our mouth, there. Baby 1: That's silly. We have an umbilical cord and that is how we eat. Everyone knows that we don’t use our mouth to eat! And, on the top of it, no one has ever come back from the other world… Those stories are all coming from naïve people. Life just ends at birth. Period. That’s the way it is and we must accept it. Baby 2: Alright, then allow me to think differently. That's for sure, I have no idea what life after birth looks like, and I can’t prove anything to you. But I like to believe, that in the next world, we’ll be able to see our mother and that she will take care of us. Baby 1: “Mother”? You mean that you believe in ‘Mother’? Oh! So where is she? Baby 2: Everywhere, don’t you see it! She is everywhere, all around us. We are part of her and it's thanks to her that we are living right now. Without her, we wouldn’t be here. Baby 1: This is ridiculous! I’ve never seen any mother so it’s obvious that she doesn’t exist. Baby 2: I don’t agree, that’s your way of seeing things. Because sometimes when everything quiets down a little bit, we can hear her sing. We can feel her hugging our world. I’m pretty sure that our life will start after birth. Read it a second time by changing some words.... Change the word BIRTH to DEATH WOMB to WORLD MOTHER to GOD... you will find a mystery unveiling... :D

KAAL KAAN KEY MARAG LAI,YA BIDH TAN KAI MAHE SAMAI:
Inward behind the ears are two paths which enter through the ears: Right side belongs to saints and left side belongs to Kaal. There is a place (inside),where the soul stops.Kaal comes and carries the soul there.

JAB VA DORR KO PAKARE JAYI,SANT SURAT KI BAITHAK BAHI:
Kaal on left side and guru on right side.when kaal wants to carry the soul with him, then what is role of sat pursh has explained further.

VAHI SATGUR KI BAITHAK PAASA,DORI SHAAR HOYE KAAL NIRAASA:
When kaal wants to carry the soul, then immediately, the great pursh/satguru sitting on right side saves the soul from mouth of Kaal.

PRANI SATGUR KI SUDH LAAVE,DORI SHAANR KAAL ALGAAVE:
Like,When any stranger passing through a forest with fear of a thief nd a brave man saves him, then he gets very happy. In same manner when kaal arrives nd soul meditates on naam ,then that true guru in form of naam comes and saves him.

(Now I'm gonna write only explanation skipping the shabad)

Persons ,who had true naam in their heart ,did meditation, had true love towards their true guru ,are saved.kaam even can't come close to such beings. These are really great souls.
Now true guru comes and carries the soul by uniting it with his soul.
All Souls without Naam get eaten by kaal .When true guru Holds the soul, then kaal has to srun away with empty hands.
Now surat meets the Shabad nd reaches the final station 'NIJ GHAR'.The final station comes according to our kamai.
This all story is for Naam abhiyasis.

Kaal doesnt leave anyone. There is only one way to get rid of this cycle, that is only naam.Yogi become skeleton doing tapsaya, but finally kaal eats.No one can be saved without NAAM.

Now heart/hirda is questioning what happens to the souls without naam .what does happen to manmukhs?how their pran leaves the body?where are they carried after death?
Says the entire world is in hands of kaal.how kaal carries the souls to his place and how he treats them?
World is so ignorant.Even no one knows who is the true master. They worship the kaal and kaal eats them.
They even dont know from where theyare brought and what's their true goal.
Mind is trapped by cage of five elements.

Now soul is praying for true knowledge. He is begging for wisdom and to remove all doubts.he is praying o true master ,show me the right path to save myself from kaal. There is only one way to be saved from kaal, and that only way is NAAM.KAal plays a wonderful game.he himself gives pains and pleasures. He himself kills and himself eats. Now here is description how kaal plays his wonderful game.

Good question and I believe this is where a lot of weight is actually held.
Personally, I feel that if you have a strategy of some sort that has some end factor or wish for worldly desire, then this can be or will be a spiritual hindrance.
A gurmukh assured me and was pretty certain that I made progress in my simran a little more rapidly because my intentions were purely out of love, without any worldly wishes or desires. It was for approaching the path with a strong belief that this was the purpose of my birth, life and the breaths that I take. Only the dhan (wealth of naam) of where my breaths are spent is what I shall leave this illusion with.

I know we have 'ardas'.. and people will argue ''what is ardas for then if I can't ask for peace, happiness,..job satisfaction, education..".....etc..
But then ask yourself "are you really walking in gurmat hukam or his bhana"?
I know it's difficult to answer and I can't tell anyone what to wish or not wish for either. ....and love can't be forced- so you can't really force yourself to delve into simran because you want to prove you have love for God. You either have the deepest love through realization or you don't....-can't be bought or forced.
He is antarjami and the inner-knower......My ardas is always for guidance, protection and shakti/power/energy in order to do his sift salah.
I strongly ask in every ardas for 'forgiveness'.- forgiveness, for mistakes I maybe aware of and those that I may not. Along with this, I also ardas for greater awareness, so that I am able to see my own faults in order to accept them. (you wold be surprised just how many faults of your own can come before your very eyes, years and years later)
It's the love that makes you walk in hukam and hukam is actually a stronger feeling of knowing you are walking in the Truth....  It's very difficult to explain this feeling of hukam............and because you know he is the antarjami, then you have more than enough faith that he will continually arrange the path in front of you. 24/7.. All he asks is that you try deal with daily battles of 5 dhoots.....do this, and he will take care of the rest and ensure you are fed and clothed.
Maya is the illusion, we should focus and direct our energies to the purest sat or truth within. ...in doing so the illusion will take care of itself.
That's my take on it... it may show ignorance and may not be the right one..... But that is what I feel at these moments of where I am in life. The future may well prove me wrong,

Kaur Inder reacted to sukrit kaur in How To Speed Up Recitation Of Japji Sahib
In my view,What I think as considering myself a person of very lowest awastha,is that number doesnt matter.Just talking about Jap Ji sahib Ji.You know what is the depth and meaning in Japji sahib???
Doing more and more paaths in lowest time,is not that worthy for an ordinary man.Gurmukhs could and they did so,coz they had understood the real meaning of japji sahib. They had divine glimpse of each word of Japji sahib in their inner -selves.They have achieved the true meaning, true essence.Talking personally,I used to do this in my childhood to do nitnem in 1 hour.It was due to lack of time ,to go to school. But what we have understood in fast recitation of gurbani??
Have we understood or felt the true meaning, true message yet.You know Jap ji sahib gurbani is just of 39 pauris ,and you can do it in as lowest time as you want to.but The depth, vastness, the reality, incredibility of these 39,pauris is just measureless. If we do a single pauri again gain again in a single day ,then we can't understand the meaning.
Why gurmukhs could do or do so??,cause they had achieved the truth
They had done paath in their souls.Means they did true darshan of paathh in higher realms. They had seen each word and each line of jap ji sahib in their souls. They know the divine saroop of jap ji sahib. That's why time limit doesnt matter for them.Like it's said, one who reaches sachkhand, then he can go there anytime and can come back any time. Now the realms at intervals do not matter for them .It's like making of bridge over lower realms to do straight journey any time.same in this case. They have achieved the true essence. Now they dont need to discuss the meanings again and again in their minds. It's some thing unspoken.but we ordinary men can do so,but not in that sense. To get the true meaning and to do the pathh by soul is the true purpose.Like
    Take e.g. of tuk
Na oh maareh naa thaage jaye
Jin kai raam vasey mann maye
These are the simple lines. But the vastness cant be described.
Okay I've read the line in just 3 seconds. But that doesnt matter. If I want to UNDERSTAND, FEEL, EXPERIENCE, in just that 3 seconds then, its not worthy.
When I'll achieve it,Then experiencing the meaning, a WAH will come out ,not just a wah that will be word of unspoken pleasure of soul.
SO ,if we do a single pauri in whole day,in order to read the experience, the depth and start talking to divine while doing so,then its much worthy than reciting so many times the whole pathh without no real experiences.
Gurmukhs did so,cause they had made a bridge. But we have not yet.so,what I'm doing these days(may be wrong),I get katha of bhai Maskeen ji of japji sahib in my lapi.katha of each pauri is app 40 min. So doing a each pauri each day, then talking to divine again again over these particular words is just a poor attempt but still not that worthy ..
So In my suggestion, just close your eyes and start doing Jap ji sahib with waheguru Ji.Start reciting each word ,each letter with an aim of getting its true meaning ,talk to guru ji.Like your doing a conversation between ur soul and almighty. Forget about time limits.Forget about everything else! Forget about urself.Just your soul and waheguru ji in terms of words.Words of jap ji sahib. Then see whether you do 108 paaths in one day or just a One Paath in 108 days.
If you have achieved the truth ,then go for you attempt.
But the anand ,pleasure and real experience we get in discussing the paathh with supreme is much much fruitful than doing infinite prayers.
    Sanak Sanat ant nhi paya
Bed parraeh parr brahmey janam gwaya
(Sanak and Sanat ,sons of brahma coulnt find the lords limits
Brahma wasted his life away continually reading the vedas)

Following is the video related to the topic of this thread, but at the same time, it is valid for anyone who looks for everlasting happiness, which emerges from the unending fountain of bliss, namely Wahiguru Akal Purukh.

The shabd by itself as always is beautiful and peaceful, the voice of the hukam pathi is sweet and melodious, the katha kartar is clear and direct in the depth of the Bani, and so it strengthens our wavering faith in Wahiguru Akal Purukh.

    Enjoy it,

    Sat Sree Akal.

    Dear brother Lunalon,
do not feel sorry at all. There is not much to be known neither. Sometimes, the more one knows, the more one gets confused.

The only thing which one has to know, undestand and keep in mind, is that : Ik Onkar, Satgur Parsad. This is all one should know, the rest matters not much.

The wavering faith, of which you talk about, is almost with all of us.

See, the Sun is always up there. Sometimes some huge dark clouds come in between, then, that area gets darkened. But that does not mean, the Sun has disappeared .

In a similar way, our karmas come out and bolck our vision of the Sun...nevertheless we should not feel disheartened and loose faith.

The clouds can not be eternal, they have to give way to sunshine one day.

Then one more thing, do not ever compare yourself to others, just keep and eye on yourself and see, if you are engaged in His devotion or not.

Your present karmas , you are not able to change them, but certainly you can start planting the seed of Naam within you, and water it as much as possible, with the water of regular abhyaas of Simran, so that in the future you can certainly drink the Amrit of Naam and merge yourself in Him, by His grace also.

Once agian, do not loose faith and hope in Him ever.

    May God bless you.

    Sat Sree Akal.

    Dear Lunalon,
we are already failed, and our condition is hopeless and of pity. So any devotion done, even for any selfish motives, in His court is accepted.

How one calls one´s father, that is not much important. He knows how weak we are. But anyhow He is such a wonderful Father, that He says, though out of pain or despair just remeber me, just call me with a sincere heart, and see I will come running to your aid.

But there is definetely a difference in calling a worldly father and a heavenly Father like Wahiguru Akal Purukh.

While our calling Him, we are elevated, our consciousness soars high in the spiritual realms. And when we thus communicate with Him in this way, we are spiritually washed, our thinking and understanding the laws of Nature undergo a drastic change, in comparison to the earthly point of view.

Now in our present condition, we may question Him about our so called problems of any type, be it may health, mental, economical ... or any other .....

But once we elevate even a little bit our consciousness within, then we shall not even ask Him any such selfish things .....

Otherwise it is more likely we blame Him as usually we do. We may not voice our thoughts, but surely more than once we may have thought, my God, why me?

Why do I not get this or that ? Or be like him /her, or even better.... and an endles such list....

We should keep in mind, He is a Perfect Being.

    He can make no mistakes.

And so, if He can not make mistakes, then, what is there for Him to rectify?

It is we, who are short sighted. And we are telling Him to do this or that, like if He was the Aladino´s genie in the lamp.

We do not try to know and understand the Nature, but rather we want the Higher consciousness, to come to our level and get involved in our selfish petty minded game... Is it not moorakhta from our side, to do something which is unlogic? Then too we harshly blame Him, for not fulfilling our expectations, and so shamelessly we say God does not exist ....

Dear Lunalon, I am not disheartening you or anyone...but it is better, if we go through the precious priceless Bani, and dye ourselves with the colors of His Beant wadeeayee . Then there will be no complaints, but only "shukur hae Sachay Patshah" on each step in our lives.

For example,Christ was nailed; Dhan Guru Arjun Dev Maharaj was ill treated badly and tortured physically ...

Just let us think a litle bit, they were the embodiments of that Supreme Power.

What could they not do if they wished to? By freeing themselves and punish their culprits...

But instead, they said: Tera bhaana meetha laage ....

In these 4 words, if paid proper attention there is a lot of wisdom for us humans to learn and apply it in our lives. Then almost all of our problems shall vanish away...

But anyhow, as brother Sat above, has soundly said: "in the house of Guru Nanak even those things can be changed".

Or even as brother Jaikaara has beautifully said: "If we can do Naam Simran abhyas ..we would achieve that level when everyting will be Gurparsaad..."

So in the end we could well say, it is all about, the attitude based on faith and devotion we adopt, to face all situations.

    Sat Sree Akal.

I always thought Gurbani says that THIS is our chance. THIS lifetime. It's not concerned about some future lifetime... what we have here and now is our chance. Otherwise, you start over again. When you can finally attain a human body again, will you even remember? Will you feel the same drive toward spirituality? Will you waste away that life? As when you enter that life you will start again with amnesia... So don't waste this one in hopes of some future life.
