    Guilty.

I have done/am doing the same. I love reading but have tens of books I have yet to start reading, yet I am buying more.

The 2nd point you made Neo bro, is something that crossed my mind as well. I have a book by Bawa Sumer Singh written in the 1700s "Gurbilas 10" and it is written in Brij. I would love to start working on a translation of this into English.

There is disturbing trend among many sikhs, including unfortunately sikhs youths- i was also victim of this at one point, who are obsessive in collecting audio/books but when it comes to actually reading, translating some of it sharing the wisdom, applying the wisdom teachings we all fall short.

There is nothing wrong with collection, digitizing etc for preservation purposes for generation to come thats great we have to do that but true full advantage of it is to actually read it , provide commentary-translate and apply it in our daily lives. If we can do it on a personal level than we can encourage others to do the some to raise collective consciousness of our community into actual Guru's standard-Gurmat.

Kam (kam1825)-gurmatveechar.com/kam podcast, among singhs behind mahapurakh.com, gursevak.com, simran.info and I, amrit, tsingh, dalsingh, shaheediya, niranjana among many others by maharaj kirpa here on sikhawareness- spent many years online since 2003 to get stuff out there whether kam efforts to bringing full media collection on Gurmatveechar.com or whether its serious efforts by team on mahapurakh.com to actually do audio books of great books and translating material, or whether at here at home- sikhawareness.com many providing their own research, deep understanding of gurmat providing commentary, posting commentary screenshot from puratan japji sahib teeka.

I really hope young generation sikhs also make good effort - listening, applying deep layers of gurmat, sharing which is aleady available on gurmatveechar.com, mahapurakh.com and here at home sikhawareness.com.

But unfortunately it appears young generation sikhs are more concerned about just hoarding stuff , argue over some arbitrary nitty gritty differences in the panth, or controversy and fixate themselves to that instead. Thats why we will find more hits on controversial topics than deep layers of gurmat topic which are all deserted.

I can seriously vouch amount of deep gurmat material is out here on online web, you will rarely find in real life- western gurdwaras. So make best of cyber dharamsala (learning of gurmat-online learning center) guys.

I can't see the fuss over it myself. It seems that some Sikhs just need an "issue" to go vent some anger over.

Personally, given the acclaim that "Mahabharat" (the original), Ramayana (2 years ago) and "Devo ke Dev Mahadev" recieved, and the immense joy and learning I received from watching them, I always hoped that one day the Sikhs cold have replicated this. Sadly it may not be so.

Amount of Sikhs bickering, fighting among each other, attacking each other verbally in cyber space, in real life is flabbergasting. We have soo many problems in the community and we are only 25 million, if things keep going like that it will go much worst once we hit 1 billion mark.

Here are some of real life case:

It never ceases to amaze me how Sikhs act to one another and how quickly they cross lines but at the same time if faced with an outsider or a bit of authority become the meekest of cats.

Anybody out there (irrespective of religion), who thinks that physically abusing another human being is acceptable because they don't behave/think the way you want them to, needs a deep introspection.

Indeed very powerful video its stark reminder how death can hit anyone in any moment. Death has profound power in its relative-sargun context. Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji reminds us over and over again to raise avastha/mindset of seeker- in sri dasam granth sahib ji that akaal purkh/maha kaal- destructive power- kal power spares no one this five elemental body belongs to kaal-destructive parkriti, once life parkriti run its course it will be gone... kal will totally swallow/consume it.

So really we have two choices - either we keep identifying ourselves with this body/mind keep going through this cycle of samsara- immense suffering pain of birth and death or follow sri guru gobind singh ji updesh- realize our real self-jot saroop by meditating on it/abiding in it

No one's agreeing with breaking the law here.

But when the establishment starts crying tears over muslim girls going to Syria and offering rehabilitation and lenient prison sentences to muslim men (who have killed and raped for ISIS in Syria/Iraq before missing fast food and not liking American/Persian firepower and decided to come home) - I have to ask why things like these Sikhs have done are punished harder. Some of the above have longer sentences than the paedos!

I dont know how Gurdwaras in Leicester are run, but why do we always have to find the Panj Pyare? Surely they should lead and not hole themselves away from the Sikh masses?

I think a lot of people have forgotten details of this case. A Midland Sikh community told not to rock the boat even though the explosion of Mulism fundamentalists setting up shop in their town was leading to massive tension in the schools and streets. Kaljug SIngh and I both talked about how HUT types down south were leaving due not being able to afford to live here and wherever they ended up North would lead to a massive increase in grief for any Sikhs who live there. Luton and Leicester had some of the biggest house price falls in 2009 and large housing stock at the time of the benefit cuts. Look how horrendous the grooming situation is there now.

A girl who's family problems were exploited by devious men who made things worse. A social service and police force who reinforced the abuse and humilated the family and community. A last cry of help from the family desperate to stop their girl being sucked into a pernicious and barbaric alien community. The communities reaction to stop being used as human shield by the establishment to protect their core communities from the extremists.

The trial where the fewest who could be prosecuted where held to account. On the verge of a massive case and another example of Islamic Lawfare the girl pre-empted it all by living truthfully and not holding back. Accounts of her being driven into a Gurdwara car park and made to have sex along with exposing just how many outstanding pillars of the local muslim community where happy to pay to have sex with a 16 year old SIkh girl were enough to get the few on trial to admit their guilt before their whole community ended up on trial.

After all that it was somehow still our fault. Where as poor muslims and whites never seem to be blamed for their actions, we are blamed when someone else does it to us. If young muslim men cant be to blame for beheading civlians how on earth are these men guilty for what they did? Exactly how many more underage Sikh girls and boys must be sacrificed at the altar of 'community cohesion' before we say enough is enough?

To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize.

I'm surprised you are so late. Its take longer to research the truth, than it takes to find a lie.

    Who carried out this survey?

There are only 13,000 villages in Panjab, and not that many towns or cities where there could be deras in double numbers. So even if we assumed that every village had at least one dera in it, that would still leave at least 2,000 dera's to be divided in Panjabs towns and cities.

I would look again at this information you have brought here. Something is not right.

Panjab has had alcohol problems from decades before these deras even took root in Panjab. Still from my own experience there are dera's that are actively combating this problem. If they weren't there then the problems could be worse.

Why blame the Dera's for Panjabs problems? Do you think that they promote eve teasing and female foeticide?

I met him during the eighties in a seminar in Amritsar. He was very polite and reserved, and would give his opinion in very precise words. I really admired him for his objective approach. There wasn't any history postgraduate claas at Khalsa College Jallandhar but Pajabi MA. However, he was invited to give special talks to undergraduate students on Sikh history. I remember listening to him about Persian sources such as Tuzak-i-jahangiri on Guru Arjan Dev ji's martyredom. Satbir Singh had been telling us alwats about Chandu and Pirthi Chand.

They were not Hindus and not Mahants. Mahant-dom came during a later phase of the degeneratyion of the Udasi Samprdaye.

Think about it, on the one hand we fondly quote 52 hukams whereby Guru Ji says don't place authority in non-Sikh hands.

There were many Hindus active in the persecution of Sikhs in that century(same as the other centuries).

There were many Hindus who fought on the moghal side against the Sikhs in that century.

” community leader Sardar Bishon Singh told The Express Tribune. “Meat, eggs and tobacco are prohibited in Sikhism like pork is in Islam,” he said. This is old news. The above quote does not seem to fit in with the Pakistani Sikhs viewpoint of meat either. They do not have the hang ups that Indian Sikhs have about meat. If I remember correctly it was agreed that this incident would never be repeated.

I just spoke to nirmale/taksali who studied gurmat vidya for 20 plus years. He advised 52 hakums are authentic work of sri guru gobind singh ji. However, 52 hakums contents that you read now its been exaggerated-strictfied, for lack better term -sharia fied, colored with abhramic notions as proper context were not shown. Upon question if bachans need to be read or followed like christian 10 commandments- Bhai sahib answer was no cannot be interperted or taken as christian commandments. These bachans or hakums were answer to questions of sikhs, some can be treated as basic guidelines not meant to be wrapped their head around it but meant to be read as basic beginner guidelines which were further divided into two categories- jatti- personal and kaumi- bachans are meant for sikh kaum.

The reason he believes 52 hakums of sri guru gobind singh ji 'written' now are bit exaggerated is because writer didn't know- actual context of the bachans as they were spoken out by sri guru gobind singh ji, some bachans were answer to sikh only meant for questioner state of mind/spiritual development.

He also mentioned- main essence of sikhi is Sri guru gobind singh ji bachan and sikhi- Jin Prem kiyo tin hi prabh paio ||

He provided two examples - different aspect/perspective of advises given in one from japji sahib and second one from sodar rehras sahib to prove emphasis on the context, see things in different aspects/perspectives (pakh).

My personal opinion is pretty much with bhai sahib ji is saying- i believe 52 hakums are authentic as well....i would see them from transcendental perspective mentioned in gurbani couplet below:

Firstly, all the Guru's took amrit, whether Charan Pahul or Khande Pahul. That's how you adopt a Guru. Even hindu philosophy agrees with that.

Secondly, from your sentiments, can I assume that you know think of Sikhi as separate from Hinduism?

Look, it is possible to discuss this without undermining anyone, but you need to be consistent with your agenda.
