Arsh1469 reacted to Mithar in Bhindranwale Sants On Mohammed
Kavi Santokh Singh Jee wrote what he wrote based on what he heard. Every saakhi he heard whether it was verified or not, he just wrote it down which is why it is not considered a Sikh canonical scripture. We Sikhs determine which Sakhi is reliable by testing it if it is in line with Sikh canonical writings which are SGGSJ, writings of Guru Gobind Singh Jee, Bhai Gurdas Jee, Bhai Nand Lal Jee. While Kavi Santokh SIngh Jee's monumental work is respected by the Panth, but no Sikh considers it to be a canonical Sikh scripture while Muslims consider the Hadiths to be canonical along with the Quran.

The hadiths by Bukhari are considered the most reliable sources on the prophet mohammad. Unlike Kavi Santokh Singh Jee, bukhari did not just blindly write down every thing he heard. He diligently verified each and every thing before writing it which is why the followers of Prophet Mohammad beleive in the Hadiths as the most reliable sources there is about Prophet Mohammad. Bukhari himself was no ordinary man, he was actually a genius, they say he had all these Hadiths memorized by heart. Non of the Hadiths can be said to contradict the other Islamic canonical writing which is the Quran.

It's really strange that you as non Muslim are questioning validity of the Hadiths, while Muslims who literally LIVE ISLAM and die for Islam as true believers in the message of Prophet Mohammad and his Quran beleive it to be the most reliable source on Mohammad.

But the difference is, neither prophet Mohammad nor the writers of the Hadiths were Brahmgianis. A Brahmgiani is not some small entity. What to talk of prophet Mohammad, a Gurmukh Brahmgiani is greater than even Brahma, Vishnu or Shiva.

    You said:

The only valid and primary historical sources on the life of the Prophet Mohammad are the Quran and the Hadiths. But on another thread you dismissed Quran and Hadiths suggesting that they may not be reliable since they do not show prophet Mohammad in a positive light. You cannot just pick and choose when you want to use the Quran and Hadith card when it suits your argument. If you accept the Quran and Hadiths then you must accept that Prophet Mohammad was a pedophile, mass murderer, slave owner and trader, rapist, forcible converter and warlord.

If the Hadiths say he was all of those things, when why is it difficult to accept what Sant Jee said to be the truth?

Just wondering if Brahm Kavach is to be recited 32 times a day (which I have read some nihang singhs do) or just once. I counted the "praises" and if I did it right there are 32 so I'm wondering if it means reciting these 32 praises daily or read these praises 32 times. Here is the translation I have:

"There is an extensive thread on Tapoban discussing the Babbars opening fire on Sant Jee, alternatively, older members of the Sangat who associate or link themselves with the Taksal will confirm this, unless of course they are trying to “keep panthic unity” as it was pointed out to me by one ardent UK Taksali. "

Could you please post a link to this thread, ji? I searched for it but couldn't find it.

    Interesting book. some qoutes:
According to India Today206: 'Whereas Bhindranwale has publicly disowned each act of the extremists, the Babbar Khalsa openly claim credit for most of these, barring the killing of Hindu bus passengers and that of Atwal.'

"In one of his speeches, Sant Bhindranwale said209: 'Day before yesterday, a farce was enacted here at Akal Takhat. After getting some tape-recording done by someone, he was called to the Akali stage and made to say that Bhindranwala was conspiring to get him killed. His name is Sukhdev Singh; people often call him Sukha. They say that I have hatched a conspiracy to kill him.' "

When some Punjabi newspapers published information concerning death
of Sikh young men, most of whom died while in police custody or in ‘fake’ encounters, the
Punjab Government approached the Press Council of India to enlist its co-operation against its
own members, the Punjabi newspapers. The Council, assuming that the official view of the
situation in Punjab was the correct one, dutifully ignored the protestations of its members and
recommended that the Government set up proper arrangements to provide authentic information
to the press211. The Government not only continuously harassed newspapers like the daily Ajit,
the Akali Patrika, and Charhdi Kala but also regularly fed disinformation to the newsmedia. A
Times of India article212 revealed: ‘Often and unwittingly... journalists fall prey to the
government disinformation which suavely manages to plant stories... The confusion gets
compounded when government agencies also resort to feeding disinformation on letterheads of
miltant organizations since there is no way of confirming or seeking clarifications on press notes
supposedly issued by militants who are underground and remain inaccessible most of the time.’
The writer went on to report: ‘A group of journalists, including myself, had called on the former
governor to lodge a protest against the registration of a case against the Times of India and the
Punjabi daily Ajit, last January. After hastily apologising and promising to withdraw the case
“shortly” (that the case was ultimately never withdrawn is a different story), the governor had
sought the journalists’ co-operation in tackling the militants. “Don’t publish press notes that
preach violence against an individual, an organisation, etc. but you are free to publish their press
notes that encourage inter-gang rivalry, “ he said, adding “We have drawn up a plan for
disinformation to be issued on the militants’ letterheads. We hope that you will co-operate”.’

Brother, I started doing this Jaap for a minimum of 32 times daily.
I had some experiences during this time, involving the jot quite literally dancing to chandi Di Vaar ( unexplainably shapeshifting and gaining huge flame at times) and upon completion of the Bram Kavach, the jot would always be finished exactly when I finish. Regardless if I did a Jaap of 32 or 52 or even 108.
I plan on continuing this Jaap for the rest of my life
I also wanted to know if so long as your hair is washed, can you Jap this baani any time, any where after you've completed your 32jaaps

I thought all Hadiths agree that Muhammed Sahib used to be an avid practitioner of Dhikr (Zhikr)?

I don't think correct logic and sharda are contradictory.

Repeating a complete shabd or Gur/Mool Mantre is 100% logic. How does one revise for an exam - by repitition - we engrain gurbani on our mind through repitition - next thing to do is vichaar and understand it.

Repeating Gods name - keeps us God focused - and that focus affects all our thoughts, decisions and actions - logic.

Repeating bani enables us to memorise it - hence negating the use of numerous gutke when quoting or pothi when doing kirtan - logic.

In my view are Guru's were completely logical - it is for their supreme and pure logic that I have sharda.

There are 'stories' (accounts/sakhis/folktales - depending on your take) of the late and much respect Sant Attar Singh Mastuanewale reciting this 'Chand' repeatedly during his time at Hazoor Sahib (I believe the foremost propagator of this story is one 'Sant Baba' Maan Singh - who most will no doubt remember for his alleged 'sex slaves' incident a few years back).

The late 'Yogi Bhajan' and his 3HO with their usual 'new age' influenced Sikhi chant this as part of their special morning 'sadhana for the aquarian age' (supposedly Yogi-ji knew that the chants that form part of this 'sadhana' were the best selection until 2012 - not sure if this has anything to do with the London Olympics). According to 3HO, this offers 'protection' and was used by Guru Gobind Singh alongside a particular 'Yoga' exercise peculiar to Yogi Bhajan's Kundalini Yoga when training his Khalsa Troops.

You can recite it out loud or silently, kamai is considered to be greater when recited silently.

It's for protection, for shaheed singhs to do rakhya. Gyani Thakur Singh explained it to me thus, Think of Mool Mantr as the raja, and this mantr (Chachri Chand, Tav Prasaad) as the general.

My understanding is that any Gurbani can do anything, but different shabads tend to have a greater thrust in a particular direction.

Rikhi Vishisht jee (Guru of Sri Ram Chandar jee) amended the mantar to reduce its effectiveness, as people could misuse this mantar in Kaljug. It originally had 32 letters.; now, it has 24. Even the Khalsa Gayatri Mantar has 24 letters in it.
